Are these cheap treadmills worth buying to get your steps in?
>>
>>76747536
You can walk outside for free.
>>
>>76747538
i live in suburban america
>>
>>76747540
So do I, you simply jog on the opposite side of the road and run into the grass if a car is approaching you. Not complicated and much more fun than boring as fuck treadmill "running"
>>
>>76747540
suburban america is one of the best places to walk outside idiot. I do it all the time. twice a day usually
>>
>>76747555
>just run into the grass if a vehicle is coming at you bro
yeah i should do that instead of spending like $100 to do it in the comfort of my own home, great idea
>>
>>76747540
and?
>>
>>76747536
Yeah I keep one around for winter/rain but I do other cardio. This is mostly just to pad the other days so I don't detrain between more serious stuff.
>>
>>76747536
>>76747563
sorry about the obesity
totally not your fault
>>
>>76747536
Unless you are some hyper productivity maxing dude and that thing is setup under a standing desk it seems a bit silly. Just walk around your block a few times, park further away from a store and skip elevator where you can.

Oh I'm sorry, is the point of exercise to feel comfortable or is the point of exercise to toughen you up and make you more athletic? If you can't handle running in grass to the point where you have to "run" in an air conditioned room then you are the exact kind of person that needs some experience running in grass more than anybody. You are never not going to be fat with this mindset
>>
>>76747569
I'm not even obese at all, just want to get some ez cardio in
I just lift and sit all day it's not healthy
>>76747577
you are autistic if you think having to "jog in the grass" is actually a point worth defending
>>
>>76747580
You're the one scared of touching grass and you think I'm autistic? It is a pretty normal human experience to have to jog in the grass but you are acting like I told you to put tabasco sauce on your ball sack. You must be so sheltered and gay
>>
>>76747536
Ok, I am probably an expert on these now. I'm on my third one and it's starting to make that dying electric motor smell. I WFH and frequently walk for hours a day on these. I play vidya, watch movies, whatever while walking on them.

They are all made to be used a few times, shoved under a bed, and forgotten. They all lack adequate cooling to their inadequate motor and slowly just burn themselves to death if you actually use them.

So what you do is buy them from somewhere that has a protection plan. I get mine from Walmart, pay the extra for the protection plan, and walk/run these fuckers to death in about 6~9 months. Protection plan repays me when it dies, I put that plus a couple more bucks towards the next one being a slightly higher tier, the world keeps on spinning.

My recommendation is to get one with incline and that will support running speeds. Most have a 2.5hp motor - try and find one with more that suits your budget. Don't get too attached - if you use it, it'll die. Think about what did and didn't work for you as you pick the replacement.

First thing to do is check the accuracy of its speed settings. They're always a little off.
>>
>>76747590
do you actually lube it like the maintenance manual says? or you're just niggering it up?
>>
>>76747536
Yea, i have one because i live in a shitty crowded city. The problem is that if you increase the pace enough it may not be enough of a cardio training. You will eventually want to jog. Mines max speed is 6kmh and im already doing 5.5kmh. Also, its shitty you cant slope them. I miss my old threadmill, i hate being a rentoid
>>
>>76747580
lol sure thing bud
btw, you can't run on those, not that you could run anyways
and if you wanted one, you'd have one by now
>>
>>76747586
>scared of touching grass
no im telling you that walking outside is shit here because you actually have to dodge vehicles lmao
>>
>>76747590
thanks for the one of the only helpful posts in the thread, ill probably do that
im not scared of maintaining something like this but im sure the design is rudimentary and unservicable due to the cost anyway
>>
>>76747606
im not buying it to run?
>and if you wanted one, you'd have one by now
and if you had a good post you should have made one
>>
>>76747603
Yes, I use the oil properly, tension the belt as needed, and even soap the drive belt when it gets bad. I'm actually a very capable handyman with all the tools and have gone so far as to install cooling fans and replace bearings on them in the past - the effort extends the life of the treadmill, but not significantly. The failing is in the cheap motor and shitty design. They're made to be quiet, and more power with more cooling would be too loud.

>>76747606
I've run on all of mine. I'm not breaking speed records, but you can find some that'll go up to an ok jogging speed.
>>
>>76747620
I wish maintenance helped them. Happy to do it - chaps my ass that these are disposable. There's no real decent one on the market that isn't the price of a used car, though. It's either the garbage or the expensive ones.
>>
>>76747614
I do that daily. Don't be a pussy
>>
>>76747735
i dont care what you do in your retarded life
>>
>>76747536
>get your steps in
Pointless metric enormously inflated in importance by grifters taking studies out of context.
Get into running instead, the effects on your cardiovascular system are much more drastic and immediate than getting an arbitrary number of steps at an effortless pace in every day (unless you are literally 90 years old or have been sedentary your entire life).
>>
>>76747843
>bro getting more blood flow through your hips and joints with literally no fatigue cost is a meme
>>
>>76747563
Fucking seppobots, smfh. Stay inside, stay out of the beautiful world, it's too good for you.
>>
>>76747904
thanks sunburnt british criminal named noah, very cool
>>
>>76747899
Yeah, it is a meme. You'd get far more out of just going for a run. It's like arguing that benching an empty bar is still better for your chest than doing nothing when you could just load some plates.
>>
>>76747912
I bench empty bar every workout.
>>
>>76747555
I think hes more concerned about the local urban fauna than the traffic bro

>>
>>76747536
I got myself a walking pad for about 400€. I like it. Helps me walk when otherwise I wouldn't want to go outside. I can't wander aimlessly without a destination, and I find the loneliness depressing. I'll just put something on to watch and walk at home. I don't regret it at all because it suits my purposes.

I'm not American but is the suburb a bit like small towns here? So if you step outside to walk you're the weird one and people will look at you like you're an unemployed criminal when they pass you with their cars or from their windows, then they will chat about you with their friends/family?
because right now here in Italy the "outside" doesn't really exist for most people in what you might call our suburbs
it's either house - car - work
>>
>>76747538
People bully me and yell racist stuff from their cars whenever I do
>>

Open carry a rock.
>>
>>76747536

i bought this one a year ago. used to live in a city, dedicated 10k stepper, wasn't a problem until moved out to the burbs with my now wife. townhome community with barely anywhere to walk. bought this thing to put under my standing desk on lift days so i can get my steps. works totally fine, i put it against the desk when i'm done.

not really much else to say about it. i wouldn't spend more than $100 on any of these.
>>
>>76747538
It gets old fast if you try to do it every day. Plus you can't go out naked and barefoot, and it's more expensive if you factor in all the pants you'll destroy if you have juicy adductors.
>>
>>76748969
I never get tired of walking outside, I often go twice a day.
>>
>>76747590
Best response in thread. Thanks for saving me from wasting money.
>>
>>76747536
yes i use mine daily
>>
>>76748654
That's why you should go outside dressed like an 80s wrestlers, show those negative nancies who's boss. I swear to God Italy used to be fun, now it's just a bunch of stuck up cunts. Back in the day only the "rich" would act like that, now it's everyone. The average shitalian people deserve only pestilence and fire.
>>
>>76747536
Walking is for old women and fatties. This is what you need
>>
>>76749123
You couldn't figure out the cheap shit would perform like chink shit?
>>
>>76747590
After talking about this here last night I took my current walker apart and cleaned out the dustbunnies. Took the actual motor apart to inspect bearings and bushings - all fine, but holy shit was that thing full of dust. Put it back together and it walked me for an hour with no cooking smell, go figure.

I think long term these things can have their lives best prolonged by periodically popping open the housing and cleaning them out. Blast some compressed air through the motor too. My current model is really easy to open up, so we'll see how long I can keep it going.
>>
>>76749469
yea i would like jump roping but hitting my feet every 30 seconds is annoying and breaks my rhythm
>>
>>76747536
No, it's incredibly boring to walk while not advancing, it's also noisy and takes too much places.
Just walk outside for free
>>
>>76747536
No, they’re made for women. Adult men are too wide for these
>>
>>76748654
Boomers think if you're outside for any reason at all it's weird and may call the police on you, normal is going right inside after work and sitting in front of the TV until it's time to sleep
>>
bought a shitty $100 one with an incline
ill maintain it with oil and blow out the motor's dust every so often
we'll see how it goes
>>
>>76748308
I read this post in an indian accent
>>
>>76747555
Don't you get the police called on you if you're seen walking in an American neighborhood instead of driving around because you're mistaken for a hobo?
>>
>>76749538
have you tried jumping every 30 seconds?
>>
>>76747536
good grief you could walk back and forth in your room 100x and get a better walk for free. i'll never understand why people are so happy to foolishly hand their shekels over particularly for something as simple and normal as walking.
>>
>>76750291
Can’t do that while playing cs2
>>
>>76749520
Not exactly. Online reviews corroborated what anon said but reading it again really brought the message home.
>>
>>76750342
Well, just to reiterate, my mom bought one on the recommendation of a friend (who probably barely uses it) and it broke in less than a week. They're underpowered and poorly made compared to even cheap traditional treadmills.
>>
>>76750291
i already pace around autistically my house it's weird and cuts through productivity
>>
>>76747540
>suburban
So you live in a comfy enclosed neighborhood away from traffic. What's your problem?
>>
>>76751897
This although I really have no idea what suburb means anymore.
It used mean urban sprawl like this sea of one story shit drug houses that surround the city like enemy tents in siege and largely function the same way.

Now people use it to refer to those housing developments like 20 miles out of the city like someone just plopped a cul-de-sac in the middle of the woods.
>>
>>76750314
if you can't do something simple like walk without it needing to revolve around video games you have problems, my man
>>
>>76750476
then wtf would you need to spend money on a walking mill for?
