47yo lifter checking in.
I do other sports like mountain biking (no e-bike) and swimming.
This means that I need to have a good dosage of cardio weekly. Lifting is No. 1, but now I prefer form over weight. Lot of patience and following a plan.
Takes time. Not for people that cannot wait. You can juice if preferring that way.

Diet: 3000-3500kcal, 250g protein
All whole food, mostly eggs, chicken and ground beef for protein, rice, potatoes etc for carbs

Training: a weird split I made up that results in hitting everything once every 5 days, usually 3x10-12 on main lifts

Supplements; fish oil, zinc, magnesium, boron, vit d3/k2, some cbd l-theanine and melatonin for sleep because my sleep is shitty despite my best efforts

Prob gonna do a cycle next year, and probably cruise in between, considering just test and hgh for now

49 years old. This is with 200mg/week of TRT and about 6 weeks of primo at 100mg/week.
Only injury I’ve had recently is a pulled calf muscle, knock on wood.
But yeah, you have to slow down. Every injury post 40 is permanent. Fuck up your back at 25, you can rehab and get back to 100%, or better. Post 40 any injury can derail you for years. And you’ll never be back at 100%.
I just want to stay healthy and strong as long as a I can. And fuck girls half my age.

Stretching and flexibility are way more important than most younger people think. Most typical injuries you get in your everyday life or gym happen because you weren't flexible enough and you body panicked and either hit the breaks and reverse or started bending somewhere else to compensate.
Warming up is really helpful, resistance bands sound like a useless gimmick until you get your first shoulder injury, then they become a staple in your warmup routine.
Strength isn't as important, I'm a tradecuck who has to lift and carry all kinds of shit at work, but tbt your squat, deadlift, bench, etc strength doesn't really translate all that well to lifting some odd shaped bs at work. Knowing how to brace well does help tho. So unless you're a powershitter just focus on your physique / aesthetic. Egolifting, hitting PRs every week, etc are fun and all, but it all will eventually backfire. I'm not saying don't lift heavy, I love lifting heavy, I'm just saying use your head while doing so. It'll allow you to lift weights and have fun for much longer instead of quitting because of some bs trauma that could've been easily avoided if you weren't peacocking.

Nobody trains hard over 40. 100% of grandpas are on TRT and just do fluff and pump exercises. There is no point of training when you're not competing in sports and not progressing. TRT grandpas will out-physique your 15 hour per week soience-based ideal lifting/cardio protocol on 60 minutes of benching+curls a week. Sorry for the brutal blackpill but that's the way it is. Noticeable difference in the amount of time it takes to heal compared to 20's. You're basically superman in your 20's. Time off has a much bigger impact on your performance then it did in your 20's, so consistency becomes much more important. Retain 100-95% of your performance.

Same as above, except healing time increases, and your diet starts to become more important because it's easier to put on fat if you eat surplus calories. Retain 95-90% of your performance.
>50's
Same as above. Stretching and warm ups become far more important. Easier to injure yourself if you're being stupid. Poor training habits and injuries become noticeable in knees / back. Have to pay more attention to heart rate when doing cardio. Diet and calorie consumption need to be monitored and kept in check. Retain 90-85% of your performance.

Nah, it was pretty easy to lose fat and build muscle. The key was calorie deficit 300 to 500 cal per day with strength training, cardio and high protein diet.

The first 4 meals of my day are the same every day, and my evening meal varies, so 250g might look like this on a given day:

>6 whole boiled eggs on 3 toast (48g for the eggs and 15 for the high protein bread)
>mid morning 50g whey (48g protein)

That’s 196g before dinner

Then if dinner is chicken breast or thighs, or really anything with any meat at all it’s gonna hit the next 50g easily and sometimes go quite a bit over… a 10oz chicken breast is like 75g for example

So I find that really easy, those are the foods I like to eat and I don’t eat in that way to ‘hit a protein goal’ I just eat that way because I like beef eggs and chicken
