Morning, everyone.

I've lost almost 40 pounds so far, aiming to lose another 60 by the end of next year. But I've already gotten very floppy. Loose skin, but since I'm still fat there's a lot of subcutaneous fat on it. Very floppy, very gross.

I know that as I lose more weight a lot of the fat will go away. And I need to get more serious about exercising so I have a better shape under the skin. And the skin will tighten a bit over time. But is there some secret fourth thing I can do? Are there, like, Korean skin tightening creams or something?

Nah, that's completely normal at a certain stage of fat loss, it's the same when you're already fairly lean and trying to get shredded. You just have to keep going and not let it get to you. If you're worried about the skin itself and not just the general flabby feel, just try to lose weight at a slower pace.

Surgery is literally the only way to truly solve it sadly. The rate you lose weight doesn't do shit, neither does any of the various snake oils people will sell you (collagen supps, retinol creams, ect). Your skin will retract on its own over the coming year, if you keep it off for about a year that's more or less what you'll end up with as your skin will have finished retracting as much as it can. If you're not happy about how you look after that process finishes surgery is the answer.

damn, that's what I was afraid you guys would say, Guess I just gotta power through it and look into surgery after I hit my goals

Gain some of it back, proceed to lose it again but this time add some kind of extended fasting.

That doesn't sound like it makes sense. What would extended fasting do?

It's not what you want to hear, but it's okay to be a bit floppy. Saggy skin and stretch marks are a permanent penance for the sin of gluttony. Be happy you're healthier and want to continue being healthy.

Autophagy. It's not a silver bullet and you definitely should not gain weight first to do it.

Don't spread bullshit.

Autophagy, HGH increase. It's something I noticed watching some fat people's weight loss transformations doing fasting. They didn't make a point about it preventing loose skin, it just occurred to me they didn't have it even though they were on huge deficits.
