As long as you don't drink too much too often and you're not drinking while lifting you should be fine. I've hit many PR's while hungover

Only if you’re a low test weak twink

Yes, it completely inhibits protein synthesis systemically. So each time you drink your muscles atrophy. Alcoholics lose virtually all their muscle mass over time.

try a hallucinogenic like salvia, ibogaine, or datura, they often help people lose that ridiculous urge and reprogram their retarded brains.

If I include those I end up doing both

You can try to limit use, at least.
Like, don't drink in the 24h before and 24 or better 48h after training. It basically means, if you're training 3 or 4 times per week, you could drink once per week (and keep it light too, you have 1 day to flush your system), maybe 2 times if you're training 2/week (but that's weak as fuck).
That's because alcohol WILL blunt the growth effect from the training, do you want to sweat in the gym, just to... NOT get the muscle growth effect? That's demoralising.
Weed might be even worse, it's not well researched but it's very possible it fucks up muscle innervation. So you'll grow some muscle, but it will be of lower 'quality' (meaning, it won't be easy to get the full expected strength out of it). Which sucks too.
That's why we have so many coffee and tea threads, that's all we can actually use.

Just do amphetamines
>>
>>76759366
If im fiending i just like a few shots and one or 2 chaser drinks before lifting so im hungry
>>

If you're truly an alcoholic (like me) then sobriety is the only thing that works. Some people can get California sober and that's great but when I tried that I was back drinking within the week. It has a lot to do with abuse/atypical childhood so the brain doesn't develop coping mechanisms properly. I hear there's a genetic component as well although I'm not sure the science is settled on that.

They gave mice the equivalent of giving a 200lb man 4L vodka per day and it didn't do shit.

alcohol only kills gains while your liver is digesting the shit, so unless you're drinking 24/7 or have cirrhosis, you'll be fine

Alcohol is terrible for you and ideally is completely avoided... but it's also fun and makes socializing easier. I barely drink now that I'm old and married, but it was a big part of my life (too big) for most of my 20s and early 30s so I get it.

If you truly cannot stop drinking, the sinclair method can help. Look into naltrexone, an inexpensive generic that essentially blocks alcohol from feeling good for 24 hours. Willpower alone is best, but if you're struggling with an addiction then your focus is on beating it with any method available.

Nah alcohol doesnt really fuck you up if you limit how much youre getting drunk and when and if you have a functioning liver.

The drunker you get the worse it impacts your health exponentially, dont take ibuprofen in pain pills or with steroids it kills yoir liver.

Read pic related OP. I read the one for smoking and it made me quit instantly and I never craved a smoke since. No scare tactics or shaming involved. That was 3 months ago.

I read the one for alcohol but that was a few days ago so can't say for sure if it works yet (the other one 100% did). In any case, it's just a book, so it's worth a shot.
>>76759457
That's not how addiction works, nobody decides to be an addict

>t. recovering alcoholic

>does it kill gains?
In every conceivable way. Missed workouts because of hangovers, shitty nutrition because drunk, and it directly stops the muscle building process at the biochemical level.

I became a fatass because of alcohol. As of last year, I crunched the numbers, and it was responsible for AT LEAST 15 kilos of bodyweight (!).

>gets blackout drunk
>passes out without eating pizzas
>wakes up at 2am, eats healthy tacos

Whatever lies you need to tell yourself to go cold turkey are fine, but keep to self.
>>
>>76759366
I drink daylight until dark and have been making fast gains. Just drink lots of water and get your daily protein.
If anything alcohol is good for gains. Right when the buzz hits the music gets me ultra pumped and going to failure is super satisfying.
>>
>>76762385
if you're getting hungover and raping your sleep schedule then you're not going as hard as you could in the gym or at life in general.
>it directly stops the muscle building process at the biochemical level.
this is a fact and just repeating it doesn't invalidate it

druggy cope + post body

Rob gronkowski would go out drinking the entire night before practice. Go to the stadium, get an Iv to get his fluids back, and then go dominate in the morning.

Personally my entire high school track team drank like fish and we were perfectly fine. I literally never go hung over. Now that I’m not running a jv 5:30 mile and I’m older I have to seriously watch my alcohol consumption. Even a few beers can throw me off. So basically like with anything health related if you are near your athletic potential you can do basically anything including heavy drinking.

Wade Boggs: The American baseball player claims he once consumed 73 beers on a flight from Boston to Los Angeles before a game

Don’t fucking drink if you are an out of shape fat loser who runs a 9 minute mile. If you are basically a pro athlete and have friends that like to party drink like a fish it’s probably good for you.
>>
When I was younger I'd work out through hang overs or moderately drunk if I had to, replace carbs for booze, damage control with cardio and high protein low calorie meals and make a shit ton of progress through alcoholism.
It's different now, tho. Hangovers last for two days and are debilitating. Performance drunk sucks and I'm not able to do the things I have to do if I'm skipping carbs cause I drank last night nor have time to add an extra hour of cardio to make up for half a six pack.

You can definitely make gains through an alcohol addiction when you're young and tough but as you get older it takes so much willpower and strength you might as well just drink less.

It's not a fact. Alcohol kills anything in vitro at 95% concentration. It doesn't kiil shit sub 1%, and doesn't stop muscle synthesis either. Teetotaler propaganda is full of lies.
