Thread dedicated to all things bench press - the most based thing to do in a gym!

Anyone else like to propel the bar a little into the air an inch or two? I know I'm obviously not doing 100% that way, but I like that it makes me feel like Superman, like it's effortless. I think it probably looks cool too.

You bros have any quirks like that when you bench?
>>
this shit is a bitch to grow
I can hit Pr's every other session deadlift and squat and OHP and i'm surpassing 1/3/4 yet /2/ is fucking gruesome to hit consistently unless i do it every session
Even the incline grows faster than my flat
Maybe i'm a bitch and need a spotter because my abs took too much abuse from roll of shame and i dont want a bench induced hernia

I've been splitting up my chest sessions between bodybuilding style bench and powerlifting style bench. The bodybuilding bench is flat back, full ROM, emphasizing the bottom with no leg drive at all. I can feel my chest from top to bottom getting worked and it's really cool. I'm not moving as much weight but my chest is growing really fast because I think I'm targeting it way better with that form
>>
are weighted dips the best thing to do when you dont have access to bench?

Going light this cycle to give my tendonitis a chance to heal. Other than doing pec deck is there anything else I can do to improve that isn't going to tweak my elbows?
>>
Just inject some BPC-157 in your elbow and get some SBD elbow sleeves. Gtg.

does a wider grip actually activate more chest muscle or does it just let you add more weight to the bar because of the reduced ROM? Every time I bench with wide grip like OP pic I get weird pains in my chest
>>
>last bench day
>failed on final rep of final set
>today
>go to lift the same weight today and try to get all my reps
>fail final rep again
>set felt harder
>worry I'm plateauing or regressing
>realize as I'm unloading the weight that I accidentally used 5lb plates instead of 2.5lb plates and was benching 5lb more than I meant to
a nice surprise in my moment of despair.

calories like >>76770709 mentioned but also I found changing the way I squeeze at the top of the movement, almost like your going to throw it in the air, really helped bumped my numbers up.

My progression. Two plates for reps soon

Weight is in kg

Going in for 2,5 plates (1,5 x bodyweight) PR in 10 days, it seemed impossible years ago when I started with 24kg barbell for reps. Wish me luck anons

if you can do that, there isn't enough weight on the bar

It depends, it MIGHT hit your chest a bit more but it could also screw your shoulders, among other things. Fuck around, find out (what works for you)
I guess
