Been going consistenly for 4-5 years but I just can't take the monotony of it anymore.
So change your routine
idk get a home gym and lift while going about your day or somethingor get in on some fitness-oriented fad hobby like bouldering or whatever the latest one is
>>76772671I tried. My problem is really with the sport itself.
>>76772703Well, i guess if you don't enjoy it and lifting doesn't match up with your goals then you should do something else. Good luck.
OP if you are able bodied you owe physical fitness to yourself. It is the vessel for your soul. It will carry you into old age. This doesn’t mean you have to powerlift or bodybuild, but you must do something to stay active, or your body will fail you. Calisthenics, swimming, kettlebell bullshit, cycling, yoga, hiking, rowing, anything man. Do not give up on investing in your health because it is “boring”. It should be secondary anyway. You only need to work out 3-5 hours a week to be in great shape. You have the time. Be good to yourself.
>>76772631I am sorry to hear that, Anon.Personally I really enjoy it, but I guess part of it is that I am still new to lifting and am always making some progress.
>>76772631Change your goals. Try to build up to some advanced calisthenics movement or push your 1RM on some random lift like Bugenhagen. Get really into grip strength. Anything other than the usual SBD.
>>76772631You need to find a lifting sport that interests you. Clearly doing bicep curls and lateral raises for the sake of itself isn’t interesting you at all. The thing is though that once you find a sport that you like, all that “boring” work in the gym becomes training for that thing. It sheds its uselessness and gains a new purpose.I’ll give you an example. Let’s say you get really into shotput, you love the sport to bits. The athlete realises that that he can only get so good at his sport through cns adaption (using the muscle he currently has). So he goes to the gym and lifts. Having bigger legs and hips will help improve his throw, so those “boring” squats he used to do are now an integral part of improving his throw. Even not-so-obvious things like curls and shoulder raises improve his control of the shot and allows him to put more force into the shot. Etc etc…For me? It’s stonelifting. I probably would’ve quit lifting if not for it. Now instead of some boring optimal bb program that makes me want to kms, every time I go to the gym I get to partake in my favourite activity. It’s taken me across the world to lift historic stones, meet countless new people and has done positive things for my life that no money can buy. For you it could be Olympic lifting, powerlifting, strongman, sprinting, marathons, cycling, swimming, anything man. You just gotta find that thing that calls to you, though that’s harder than it sounds.
>>76772631You could make it more interesting and challenging by increasing the weight lifted.
>>76772631I don't believe you have been going for 5 years
>>76772703Start powerlifting. Putting up big numbers is fun and gives you motivation to chase them higher.
>>76772703>sportNah son, this a cope or an addiction
