Will standing at my computer sometimes improve my health and fitness? Do any of you have experience with standing desks? Thoughts?
>>
someone like logitech really needs to make a high quality handheld keyboard touchpad for standing desks. there are too many annoying quirks otherwise. a treadmill desk would be much more viable with handheld input

Hilarious waste of time. Standing up is not exercise go for a jog retard.

It will help your psoas and QL's not getting completely atrophied, but you're better off getting a job where you have an opportunity to walk more during your day.
>>
the key is not staying in any one position for more than 30-60min at a time
>sit/stand desk, alternate frequently
>use a laptop? eating lunch? go sit in a different spot for a bit
>take a short walk every ~2 hours

t. office drone

The type of desks with a bike under might unironically be better.

>imagine not athletically standing at your desk
If you dont do this you are NGMI

Static positions are what hurt the body regardless of position.
First you were sold on these expensive chairs that put your back in the "perfect position"
Now youre being sold on desks that magically fix your back if you just stand.

Look, they key is to alternate positions
Hunching
Leaning Back
Standing
Leaning to one side or the other
Rocking side to side

I personally have a very hard time doing any real work that requires concentration while sitting, so I do standing for light tasks like writing emails, making phone calls, shopping on amazon, etc
>>
I found it useful when I started working from home. When I was working in an office, I was walking there, walking to get coffee, walking to get lunch etc. So any damage from sitting down was mitigated by the walking. But then when I started wfh, I didn't have those constant breaks and I started to develop issues. Using a standing desk helped fix this.

If you do get one, also buy a mat from amazon. You don't need an expensive one but it will help your feet if you do use one.

No. It will just help you IF you suffer from back pain OR if you have bad posture.

In your anger and retaliatory remark, you failed to actually address any of his question.

I have one for 5 years in my home office.

Worked wonders. Not because standing is much better but when you are already standing it's just barely any effort to to also move around the room a bit.

It's an s-tier enabler of more movement and not becoming a sedentary sack of fat.

This, work at home some days and office others. I have a standing desk at the office and find myself walking around the room much more while talking on the phone, while at home I feel pretty shit after sitting for hours on end and catch myself hunching over

This is objectively correct.

I have an adjustable one and I fucking love it. I put a cheap treadmill under it and spend about half of my work day walking. It's a huge time saver. I usually get 10 miles worth of walking before I clock out.

Same for me

>Back feels funny
>Raise desk
>Legs feel tired
>Lower desk
>Repeat roughly hourly

and
>10 minute CAD script running?
>Take a lap around the building
>Have no clue wtf is going on in the code?
>Take a lap around the building
>Waiting for help with a toolchain bug?
>Take a lap around the building

varying positions does work or another way to do it is have many setups like a phone, laptop, desktop, standing desk, tv, etc that all do the same thing but can be engaged from any position effortlessly by just going to them. doing this results in spending very little time in a typical sitting at the desk situation
