What's the fastest way to gain cardio capacity for boxing? I want to compete and maybe in the future possibly go pro for a little bit, but raising boxing rounds is a real grind.

I don't think jump rope helps that much.
I hate running.
Kettlebell swings seem okay.
Sprints are cool.

Or should I just up my sparring time?
>>
>kettlebell swings
Do kettlebell pirhouettes, like the strongmen do before throwing them.
Go from swings into 5-7 spins, then back into swings.
If you're feeling really advanced, you can throw it at the end and cave in the skull of somebody at your gym.
It sounds retarded, but it's basically a way to instantly gas yourself.

Another one I used to do was running beep tests. You go until you gas out (you can shadowbox as you go, or do boxing style steps on the earlier stages), rest for 1-2 lengths, then go back into it. You should essentially be running 4 stages above your test max.
The other one is just jamming assault bike -> clean & jerk (or clean and press if it's easier for you) -> heavy bag until you gas, over and over, or some other meme hiit training.

whoa i didn't know this kind of exercise existed.
>>
>>76777340
That looks slightly more retarded than the one I suggested. Essentially, hold the kettlebell in one arm and swing it as if you're going to do an underarm throw, but then bring it back down on the other side and do a pirhouette and keep going. You're going to turn around 5+ times in the same direction.
The queue to make it feel ok is "look left, look right".

Cycling. Its easy on the joints and the harder you work, the more fun it is. Climb up steep hills without getting off and walking

For jump rope, like any cardio, you need to put actual time into it, like at least 20 minutes
>>
>>76777345
i feel like if i do this wrong i might fuck my knee tendons?
>>
>>76777351
Try it with a light weight (like a 2kg dumbell). The actual risk is a rotor cuff tear.
>>
>>76777280
Kettlebell swings, aim for 150 reps/set with at least a 20kg bell
>>
>>76777280
You can't really gain cardio fast. It takes forever. Just start training ASAP.
>>
>>76777280
You think you can go pro and don't know how to do cardio? Full retard
Cardio is just two buckets, base and intensity. Base is built up by a lot (and I mean a lot), of slow easy jogging or other Z2 activities such as cycling or rowing. Something like 3 45 minute sessions a week and one hour and a half session every 1-2 weeks. That's your base. Then you want to do 2-3 HIIT sessions a week. Something like hill sprint intervals. Boom now you're an athlete. You're not going to do it though because you're lazy
>>
>>76777349
As someone who transitioned from a fighter to a cyclist, cycling is great but it will not help you build the fitness you need for fighting.
If you want to box you have to run.
>>
>>76777387
i know how to cardio
I don't know how to push the boundaries of peak progress for atheltic training for boxers cardio
>>
>>76777397
It's time dude. Start training like you're going to run a 10k race, same training blocks. Over the weeks and months and years you'll improve. Cardio is cardio when it comes to sport. I do MMA and the best cardio guys are triathelon guys. Think Diaz brothers
>>
I'm a 30-35 mile per week runner usually around 8:50 pace. I want to introduce rope into my winter cardio along with my rower and light weights. How do I get good at jump rope? What does being good even mean? Are fancy tricks worthwhile or just Instagram bait?
>>
>>76777349
No. You need sport specificity.
>>76777362
Warmer, but still no.
>>76777340
Jesus christ no.
>>76777321
Again, no sport specificity.

>>76777280
First of all, the best cardio for boxing is boxing, because the idea is to recreate the motor patterns and the kinds of output to meet your performance based goals. Now, there are ways to do this with more control, less injury risk, and clearer markers of progressive overload than just sparring and bag/padwork, but not the way these people say.

-Jumping rope is your best low intensity steady state exercise with just the slightest anaerobic component, but on its own it does little.
-Db alternating unilateral clean and presses with moderate weight mimic not just the constant up and down, but also the constantly throwing power through a pressing motion with the full kinetic chain behind it, really meeting the output demands of being an aggressive boxer. If you're like me, you can take a 50 lbs dumbbell and throw it overhead repeatedly for an alternating set of 40 reps (on each side) and it trains you to set a HELL of a pace for ~4+ minutes, or you could decrease weight and do 4+ three minute rounds with a minute rest between, because that is the kind of output boxing requires.
-Landmine circuits also help mimic these kinds of motor patterns, up and down, shifting weight between dominant legs, loading and coiling one side of the obliques, maintaining a high guard, ready to either throw power or explode into a different stance. If you're like me you can just take the unloaded bar and do 10 minutes alternating boxer squats and core rotations for increasing rep ranges. 5, 10, 15, etc. This is extremely demanding in terms of anaerobic as well as aerobic endurance and, once again, will train you to set a hell of an aggressive pace for a few rounds, or it can be done for 3 minute intervals with a minute rest, followed by 3 minutes of clean and presses, 3 minutes jumping rope, and 3 minutes of bagwork/shadowboxing.

You also neglect the recovery aspect of cardio like hill sprints. You can have a big gas tank but if your opponent can reciver faster youre fucked.

Thats probably the most important part, look at mike if youre actually throwing hard youre gonna be out of gas regardless, and he wasnt exactly me olympia but he was on roids so.
>>
>>76777404
honestly i had to start jumping rope during training and the best way is to just do it for a long time. Like mind numbing amount of time. When I do muay thai classes they'll have us jump rope for literally 45 minutes straight, I wish I was exaggerating. Some people do the tricks but I don't see the point. It's great for building calf strength.
>>
>>76777418
You may money to jump 45 minutes of rope? Jesus. You come there to do muay thai. Yeah the conditioning is important but that's just weak coaching.
>>
>>76777423
That was probably just one lesson since they want to actually drill shit in with each lesson not teach you a lot of what they know just for you to not absorb it. What i find odd is how no martial artist is much of a lifter besides jon jones, tank abbott too he was benching 600x2 in one vid and one of his kos is just a 1/2 punch instant ko.
>>
>>76777280
hate running? shut your bitch ass up and start running. u don't get what u wish for, u get what u work for.
>>
>>76777439
Weight classes disincentivize lifting beyond novice gains. Once you get to a point where more strength requires more hypertrophy, you're working against yourself. That is, unless you're a heavyweight and don't worry about the cut.
>>
>>76777423
well you would hate wrestling then lmao
>>
>>76777468
No, I love wrestling. But the cardio is dynamic and sport-specific movements. You don't just jump rope for 45 minutes like you can do at home.
>>
>>76777409
Bro broke it down super sciency and everyone went "I'm a boxer bro, not a reader"
>>
>>76777280
>I want to compete in boxing.
>I might even go pro.
>If not for all that pesky boxing.
>How do I be elite world class talent at boxing while having no interest in even dipping my toes into the water of the kind of workload required to be a vaguely competitive amateur.

Give up and go do jiujitsu.
>>
>>76777349
That's stupid. I used to bike for hours without getting tired but when I tried to run for a few minutes I was gassed out immediately. It definitely will not transfer to boxing
>>
>>76777409
I got some sport specificity for you *unzips*

What about those meme-cranks for cardio?
>>
>>76777280
What is your current level of cardio?

I personally want to know how long and well you can jump rope. There's no way you can tell me you're a boxer and don't fw one of the most prominent forms of cardio that boxers do.
>>
>>76779045
Brown people don't understand the world around them that well.
