Worst gym rules thread?

I’ve trained in about 5 gyms pretty consistently and some of them have had some retarded rules.

1. Commercial gym told me I couldn’t squat in socks, gym staff acted appalled that someone would even try it like it was the most dangerous thing you could do
2. That same gym started requiring you to RESERVE the free weights, you couldn’t just show up and use them like the machines
3. Benched in the squat rack with plates beneath either side of the bench bc no benches had safeties, told I would “break the plates” by doing this or that the bench would slide off and kill me (I benched like this for a year with no incident before being told this)
4. Tried out a powerlifting gym and it was the most cringe place I’ve ever been. Full of bloatcels who took themselves way too seriously. First day I went there the manager gave me an overview of the rules and said we were FORBIDDEN from going to failure. Every squat rack and bench press had safeties and yet I was told that he didn’t want to see me failing a rep on SBD. I mean what the fuck? How could someone train to PR in a powerlifting competition without ever failing a PR.

This is standard across every single chain gym. They need affordable insurance, and requiring closed toed shoes is part of that. Not every location's staff will enforce it equally, but the rule is always there.

So you hoarded a rack and at least a dozen extra plates every time you benched? Faggot. Learn to roll the weight down to your hips. Needing safeties for bench is a meme. You must have looked like such a cringe retard.

Kind of the opposite of rules but a ton of people walk between benches and dumbbells mid set let alone machines. I knew better at 14yo on the first day of the gym and these are people who can just go buy a car and go drive it on public roads, there needs to be a fun land happy zone for these people.

I used a rack and 1 45lb plate each side, and with the way my gym is laid out to slide the bar off my legs risks rolling it into someone on a bench in front of me. When the gym has 4 squat racks and it’s 9pm with only about 25 people in the entire gym I’d hardly say I was hoarding it. And in that specific gym it was very common to see people doing far more retarded shit in those squat racks

How the fuck else are people supposed to get to the dumbbells? Do your set further away from the rack faggot

This, I think that farmer walk is a meme exercise and won't do it seriously, so I just walk as far away from the rack as possible.

this to be desu, if you're lifting right next to the db rack you're the douchebag
>>
>>76788846
wtf, squatting in socks/barefoot is probably the safest way to squat as long as you don’t stand with one foot on a thin carpet
>>
French college gym (studying abroad) had all the barbells locked up against the wall in a corner and only unlocked from 7-8pm each day. A very strange people.

nobody wants to smell your stinky ass feet white boy

I was told I couldn't grunt or make noise as I bench pressed. This is after 9 years of grunting and hollering during my sets.

You need to keep shoes on in a commercial gym for insurance and liability reasons.
The rest of your post reads like bullshit.

That’s the point retard. I wouldn’t have made this post if the rules weren’t outrageous

How does reserving free weights work exactly? You fill in a form that says "I want the 40kg dumbbells for 20 mins on Tuesday"?
Also, fully agree on the hatred for powerlifters. Never seen another group in any gym with as much of an u deserved ego as those fat cunts

you definitely weigh below 200lbs

I weigh 101kg mate. And I'm not a fat cunt
