Why are high volume and time under tension disregarded in favor of low volume and heavy weight for most people's health and fitness goals?

Frequency>intensity>volume

You can realistically combine any two and create a respectable workout plan that will show benefits to just about anyone that follows it, but I listed them in order of importance.

For one translation of effort to gains is more natural because failure can always be your stopping point. Makes progress and ability to add weight really clear.

It's time compact
doesn't require deloads
simplifies scheduling
runs into less injuries when done in a responsible rep range or with warm-ups

The difference in natties is almost entirely negligible if they're not bordering on being advanced lifters.

So it's for retards?
>>
>>76788951
Because weight goes brrrrrrr
>>

It's a horse shoe.
Retards:
low volume, high intensity
Midwit:
High volume, periodization, pyramid sets, myoreps, time under tension, deloads, orm testing, chains, bands, sleeves, gloves, belt, lifting shoes, pre-workout
Scholar:
Low volume, high intensity
Gigabrain:
Steroids + anything

Because the human body was not designed to get big and build muscles, especially on limbs

So unless you're on steroids, you have to force things out with... HEAVY LIFTING

Trust me, I'm a calisthenics bro and doing set and reps never got me anywhere

Was I aesthetic? sure

Big? Fuck no

Until I start doing weighted variations

Very true, and it applies to so many things
Dumb people are dumb enough to just lift, eat, sleep and repeat
Intelligent people are intelligent enough to understand you only need to lift, eat, sleep and repeat
Midwits will read peer reviewed studies and debate on reddit for days to achieve absolutely nothing, they are the real retards

Yea except you're the midwit.

Hi shlomo

I agree with this except I dont think that volume is least important. Splitting hairs, though. Really.

I think the reason why high volume and time under tension are favored (by normies and smooth brains) is because they are suggestive of "doing more work" and most people, even if they know better, have a prejudice towards doing more work in the gym to meet their goals. Thats largey because so much of how we have been taught to think about exercise and body goals is bodyfat oriented. More work in the gym (combined w proper caloric deficit) is probably better for fat loss. But no really if muscle gain/strngeght is your primary goal.

Jamie Lewiss of the old Chaos and Pain website had a great program that consited of lots of sets of few reps wqith heavy weights, so that you got your volume in (for hypertrophy) but used heavier weights for fewer reps for strength. I dont recall his frequency.

Ive been using a mix of higher frequency, heavy weights/high intensity for the big lifts, and higher frequency, lower weights (high volume) for arms and shoulders. Its been working well.

Nobody goes to the gym to lose fat.
>>
>>76791382
Almost = "Nobody SHOULD go to the gym to lose fat" Unfortunately that's not what happens. And, my point is that the belief that more work = more weight loss subconsciously pervades and perverts most people's traing. Hence, the love for volume - "more"

Im not saying its right. Im saying its what is.
