is striking not allowed?

taekwondo has a similar issue where girls will just inch forward with their leg up
>>

>does it work on the streets?
Only if its 1 on 1. Anywhere else you are going to get stomped out while you going for a submission.
I forget who but i remember 1 mma say if you're getting jumped by multiple people and cant get away to take at least 1 guy down with your head buried in their arm or something so that at least you wont get knocked out and hit with no resistance. You still get fucked up but less head trauma i guess
>>
>>76799501
It's the same as crosshit, meme sport for people with mediocre genetics who would never make it as athletes in any serious sport but enough daddy money and willpower and insecurity to roid and train x years to compete and get a mickey mouse trophy
>>
>>76799501
>>76799543
There's no striking, just grappling.
It's a sport, but there's a reason BJJ matches are controlled like this and you rarely see it in street fights. Judo throws are probably more common in fights.

BJJ was given such an advantage in early UFCs with its clearly one-sided hand-picked competition to make Gracie look good, and then later on when unified rules made kicking and kneeing and stomping and 12-6 elbows illegal.

And then even with those rules that favor floor hugging aka BJJ, it still got smashed to bits by anyone with a half-decent background in any other sort of grappling whether it's american wrasslin or chechnyan sambo.
Georges Saint Pierre was originally a Karate fighter but his most dominating years was him simply taking people down to the ground and laying on top of them, and then simply standing up if there was a triangle or arm bar being set up.

Anderson silva mainly did muay thai and bjj, but idk if thats gonna work so well on brock without a little more power since he can actually close the distance and oneshot. Or ngannou, jones, etc grappling gets more restricted the better and stronger your opponent is.

Ten years of martial arts experience here, short answer is yes, it does work, in fact it excels on bad defensive situations, if you are losing or the guy is larger, the entire sport revolves around reversing from a bad position, to the point most guys are comfortable from the bottom, leading into that whole BJJ guys laying on the ground meme. Of course you do learn a lot of takedown techniques.

First rule of self defense is "don't be there". If you can't avoid niggers then you don't need to learn a martial art, you need to improve your social-economic status.
>>
BJJ beyond a blue belt is countering other BJJ guys, this is why it gets meta like the added file
>>
>>76800313
This is a stupid catch 22 argument, because a nigger is the only thing that will attack you. You don't need to have professional fighting experience period if you don't live around nogs. If you do live around them, however, BJJ doesn't mean shit and won't help you anyways, because of reasons like the post you quoted.
>>
It's extremely advanced. It has its own ruleset and becomes very weird at the advanced stages.

>is BJJ a real sport?

Yes, but it's a lame sport due to rulings.

>does it work on the streets?

Against an inexperienced fighters or anybody that doesn't have a BJJ background, sure. Try BBJ in the streets against a mma fighter and you are going to have a hard time. There's no rules protecting you in a street fight. BJJ is still effective, but now you have a lot more careful.
>>
>>76800448
what are the biggest problems in using BJJ in the street compared with a ring? is getting your arm or neck bitten off an issue, or overhyped?
>>
>>76800460
>what are the biggest problems in using BJJ in the street compared with a ring?
NTA but beyond the immediacy of falling on your back in a nice padded ring vs falling on your back on a cement or concrete surface, there's also all the silly modern MMA rules that protect BJJ bottoms from getting soccer kicked & stomped or even kneed in the face should they be touching the ground.

and then in streets fights, even if you land on top you now have to worry about his friends o random tough guy wanting to get inolved running up on you to break a bar stool over your head or stab you or something.

Best thing in a street fight is to knock someone down and run away. You ideally don't want to be rolling on the ground even if you're on top of someone.

You’re a literal fucking retard.

Here I’ll fill you guys in

>purple belt in bjj
>boxed all my life
>old fag now 32 18-21 I fought mma all over
>shitload of street fights
>no I have not won every fight

If the opponent is drunk bjj is hella useful. I was wasted and was brawling someone and they just kept hugging me on ground. I was dying laughing whole time so it wasn’t really a fight and when I stood up I just pinged his head in. If you know only bjj and you think you can close the distance quick and do what you have to (keep in mind you can’t really shoot on concrete) you’ll be fine. But if you only do bjj and you fear getting hit it’s going to be BAD if the other person has any striking ability. Works decent in the cage where there’s no head stomps, groin strikes, padded gloves, etc. in a street fight it will help but it’s not an end all. You’re better off boxing honestly.

>>76800564
Also watch the fight he was handling Gracie very well and the Gracie’s put like 30 rules on the guy “uhh no headbutts” “uhh no kicks that way” they’re fucking Weeners why they got booty blasted in pride so badly.

Perfect for street fighting:
Judo and boxing you’ll literally take out 99.9% of people.

>You’re better off boxing honestly.
I agree, I have 8 years of boxing. You are massive poser tho, this made up scenario where the BJJ guy laying down gets groin or head smash and folds, simply doesn't happen on a real life grappling, to even assume that's how BJJ guys fight is crazy. Don't believe me? Watch old school Gracie dojo storms where they would go to karate gyms and beat those guys up, on hard floors. They close up the distance and at that point its very difficult to hit a guy with no space, you should know that if you fought a lot.
>>

Sure, you just were trying to allude to it being a street fight tool of some kind

Mikey does this retarding hopping shit because of rulesets that do not permit pulling guard. If he's hopping on one leg and ends up on the floor due to his opponent touching him and off-balancing him, it goes down as a takedown for the opponent but crucially Mikey can now start every reset from the ground because that's where his opponent put him after the 'takedown'.

Gordon did a similar thing against Nicky Rod where he gave him his leg and Nicky took the bait. Now the fight is on the ground, Nicky's wrestling experience is neutralised 5 seconds into the fight and Gordon melts him:

BJJ works one on one and also gets you used to handling pressure and conserving energy. If someone takes you down unexpectedly I think BJJ is great to know, i.e stay calm, don't gas, turn around quickly and get him in guard and try to sweep or sub

On the street? Look at KOTS fights. It's more rare but can save you from getting destroyed if you're on bottom. Vs multiple opponents? Lol

>>
>>76800460
One on one with no weapons there's no real issue, the problem is when you start adding factors that are likely to happen in a street fight.
If he has friends or someone doesn't like what you're doing you are getting stomp like a roach.
If he has a weapon you could in theory control their arm but is better to knock them out before they pull their weapon.
If there's multiple opponents you're beyond fucked.
If you go for a takedown there's a chance you hit your own head on the concrete.

In a street fight you should aim to end the fight as quickly as possible to get out as quickly as possible, bjj takes too long.

Wrestling does not make you the most well rounded fighter. TKD is good for children as an entry to martial arts. Every TKD person I have ever trained with had amazing kicks and striking overall. MT with clinch is the best martial art to learn. Elbows and knees are brutal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj3H4aXxAvQ
Almost all of the cases of kicks/stomps to the head of a grounded opponent the recipient is already exhausted or rocked and a TKO should be called. This is because pride had very poor refereeing and they were far too late to call a TKO. Very few of them came when someone was still intelligently defending themselves. If you're in guard and you're intelligently defending yourself then you should be able to use your feet on their torso almost always to prevent it, but occasionally it slips through. Watch the video if you don't believe me.
Knees are different, but you need to know ground grappling to do them, because they usually come from a sprawl, side control, north south and occasionally a side turtle. And if you're on the receiving end you need to know ground grappling to prevent them.

His point was that you can be taught to use the exact equipment that you will be using in war in a few months if shit hits the fan so it is pointless to LARP, so just focus on staying fit and ready. He was a ww1 vet so he would know.

yeah bullshit. training to military standards are ass. its made for literal retarded fat normies to be able to pass. the reason the gun training makes people seethe so much is that for a long time it was only high level military/feds/swat that got to practice shooting/small unit tactics/cqb. the better you are at these things the better you are off in general.
there are whole businesses revolved around training people to pass t1 selection now. it's not pointless to larp. If you only can use military assets to the standard you are fucked and are cannon fodder.

Even during the war underage wehrmacht soldiers received enough training to become elite and directly promote to unteroffizier if they were lucky and chose to apply what they had learned. Contrary to Jewish propaganda there was no cannon fodder.

really? how'd that work out for the nazis? did they win?
also clearly there has been a few changes in warfare since WW1 & WW2
it's a psyop to not train, militias are healthy for the republic.

Grappling is the oldest and most evolved form of fighting you can learn without a weapon. Every culture with any sort of martial history on Earth has a version of competitive wrestling for a reason. The Japanese developed jujutsu (unarmed grappling) because even with their spears, armor, and swords, they understood the importance of being able to kill someone when you're disarmed or too close to use a weapon, and also how deeply primal grappling is and the fact it can teach gameness.

The reason BJJ has succeeded where most other arts fail is complicated; it's not the absolute best combat sport (boxing or Judo are better), but it is the best for most people who can't fight. You cannot take someone who is a zero and make them a hero by putting them in kung fu or aikido or any traditional Ninja bs. Only a competitive combat sport can do that and BJJ is the safest of these to practice into old age.

Take for example Judo. It's a young man's sport and kids die every year in Japan from brain and spinal injuries training Judo.

Boxing and MT might be better for taking someone tough and turning them into a knockout sniper, but at the cost of probable permanent damage to your brain - the most important organ you have, which houses your entire intellect and personality. You have a much lower chance of developing CTE when your main focus is groundfighting.

Wrestlers will smoke pure BJJ guys **if the wrestlers learn submissions** but that's a big if. I have choked out the local wrestling coach as a shitty blue belt because he didn't know what a triangle was. And he was bigger and stronger than me. Submissions are that powerful.

BJJ is the sweet spot that offers a low bar of entry, longevity of practice, teaches gameness even to small or weak people who otherwise cannot fight at all.

Knowing what to do trumps everything else in a fight. Period. BJJ is not the only path to this knowledge but it's by far the most accessible and open source.
