Titanium fags gather and share joys of total hip replacement. I really enjoyed the 30mm lag bolt screwed into my pelvis. What's the recovery period like?

In high school I had an assignment to design one of these
The teacher was obese and had just had a hip replacement which was a funny coincidence
Don't get fat

Can't help with personal experience, as im 31 what happened that you need a hip replacement OP.

My 68 year old mom had it done 6 months ago. Despite being a woman, my mother is tough as shit and she has severe alzheimers. So my father and I would have to sit with her all day, and watch her cause if not she'd forget about her walker, and walk to the bathroom. At night we would put chairs up to block her and she'd climb over them, and my dad would wake to find her limping back to bed. I stayed with them for 2 weeks and by that time she was getting done with her walker. By 4 weeks she was done with her cane, and by 5 weeks she was walking around normally. Over the summer about 3 or 4 months later, one day she visited me and I walked her around too much about 4-6 miles she was sore for a couple days after that, when i asked her doc, he said returning to full activity, can lead to pain and soreness for up to a full year. She's been limping a lot lately and we realized the other hips fucked too, but we're reluctant to have to go through the nightmare again.

Anyway suffice to say brother, youre probably younger and a male, so Im sure youll be even quicker. The best advice i can give, is that the first two weeks are critical do not over do it, make sure to do the excercises, and do not cross your legs fucking ever. Falling or any mistakes during that period, will lead to double surgery and a retardedly year long recovery period.

Good luck bro.

im 60, life time of running, skiing, snowboarding, water skiing, wake boarding, mountain biking, motocross racing. Had several minor to moderate injuries and I have arthritis. joint was declining exponentially to the point I could barely walk, and I mean walk a few feet. It came down to getting a new hip or getting a wheel chair. The good news is my other hip already had moderate damage so there may be another operation in the future.

They told me not to cross my legs but never explained why?

Makes sense bruder, no judgement here, ive been running and lifting since 13, and I live an extremely active lifestyle. Most of your shit is on loan, and will break, i know it's in my future. It's funny I talked to my mom's surgeon and he told me about the part where he plays god, ie he decides if you get the metal durable hip cause they think you'll have a long life, or the shitty ceramic one, cause youll be dead in 5 years.

Sucks you have to get the double, id maybe wait a year before going back under. My dad did his hip and his knee within 9 months of each other, the knee made the hip look like a walk in the park.

>Don't cross legs
For two reasons actually. One if you arch it too much it shortens the tendon during recovery, so you end up walking like you have one leg longer than the other. Two the motion is counter productive to recovery and can lead to a tear in the stitching though that's unlikely, as once again mom has alzheimers and had to be reminded every 20 minutes to uncross em.

>so you end up walking like you have one leg longer than the other
welp, before the surgery my bad hip leg was noticably shorter than than my "good leg" and the surgeon added a little length during the operation. The op leg is still a bit shorter, but not nearly as much. As f'd as it is I am glad I did everything I could when I young and I am trying to maximize what time I got left.

sorry to hear about your mom. My grandmother was similar. She was 80 with Alzheimer's and fell and broke her hip. At that age, it can be a death sentence mostly because the person doesn't do their PT or stay physical, they will just sit and waste away as it hurts. But because she had Alzheimer's, she kept forgetting she broke her hip and would walk everywhere. She'd complain about the hip pain, then sit for a bit and forget all about it and walk again. she lived another 14 years after that. Fell another time, luckily didn't break, but when we got to the hospital, she was confused why she was there. She thought she was there to have the baby (she had to have an emergency C-Section in 1948) but also recognized her grand-daughter at the same time which needless to say is not logical. Brain is weird when that stuff happens. Both times she fell she had gotten out of her room at the home she was in and was wandering around.

Somewhat funny anecdote, but also not funny. Doctors would come to the home and see patients and then charge Medicare. My mom had to stay on top of things with those kikes. she also visited like 3+ times a week, but grandma (who has Alzheimer's) would forget, so the doctor would ask "does anyone come to visit you?" and she'd say no. and they'd take it as a fact! so anyway, one time we found out she had been approved for speech therapy because the doctor asked her if she had trouble speaking, and she only spoke to him in her native german. When mom found out, she was going to cancel it, but medicare paid for it and she was getting out, socializing, and seeing other old people and the speech therapist, so she just left it.
