Thoughts on running every day?

It's usually fine if you're already adapted to running (6 months and onward) and modulate distance, speed differnt days to have some easy days in there.

But that's more in line with sports/competition/performance goals and doesn't indicate as much about vascular health as we'd like it to.

you gotta have some days where you only go a mile or two but it's good for habit building and getting out of lethargic periods in between other tasks

t. ran around 180-200 times the last year

Post body and we will see how well it works.

My right knee and right glute hurt for 2 days after a 5k run.

I dont like running. I do it once a week listening to music for fitness but I never get a runner's high or whatever fairy tale bullshit poeple are trying to psyop me with. It's just an hour or so of torture a week that I put up with for the sake of overall health.

My wife likes to run a lot, and does multiple marathons a year. She generally runs 6 times per week, 3-10 miles per run with longer runs as she ramps up to races. It seems to work well for her, she's not as fast as she was in her 20s but she rarely gets injured. I stick to similar distances but only run 2-3 times per week. I think more that that has very diminishing returns, but if you enjoy it and have the time it's certainly possible. If I didn't work full time and have lots of gardening stuff to do I would run a bit more. Next summer I'm going to focus on speed instead of distance, see if I can win some old man age categories at local races. I might increase frequency if I'm going for shorter runs.

It's not bullshit, even though it does sound like it is. It doesn't always happen, the scenery and your running skill matter for this.

For me, the "high" doesn't really kick in until miles 15-20, and then it alternates from euphoria to misery and back again until I'm done.

I run every day. almost 80 miles a week right now.
Don't do it unless you've already been running for a long time. You'll get hurt.

It's a great way to stay small.

Fine if you've built up to it, but probably not optimal (compared to a lumpier distribution on some days and taking a rest day) unless you're doing literally 100+ km / week or so. I'm running every day at the moment but only because I'm still recovering from an injury that meant I couldn't do long runs and this was the best way to get mileage in; in a few weeks I hope I'll be back to fully polarised and will have a rest day in the cycle.

Sounds fine. Running is best done in moderation, the guy jogging 3x per week for 9 miles total is healthier than the runcel who runs 5x per week doing 30 miles per week

Since you're in the culture, why do runners love drinking alcohol so much?

You can only pick four
>Job
>Gf
>Social life
>Lifting consistently
>Rooning every day

It's just not doable when you have a lot of shit on already, it's hard enough getting to the gym 4 days a week while in full time employment and you have a family, regularly see friends too. Just running once a week is fine

But while I was still a student (so unemployed lol) I was running every day and legit saw good results from it. I could literally eat like absolute shit while lifting heavy and basically dirty bulk while staying lean. It's a great idea but just not practical for grown adults with other shit in life who also want to lift weights and not lose all their gainz

>Job as a gym owner
Covers everything but a gf all rolled into one

I'm not sure they do? Not more than the general population at least. I've been to races with free pizza and beer parties afterwards, and sometimes spectators will hand out beers along a race course, but plenty of runners don't drink or drink a normal amount.
>>
Currently my routine is to lift twice a week and run once a week.

Can I get in pretty good cardio shape and not kill gains from running once per week?

My runs are just trying to be in "zone 2" and go as far as possible.
