What's your favourite row variation?
>>76806449You dont need anything more than the first two and their variations
>>76806449I am partial to gorilla rows because they are rather fun to do.
db row, both feet on the ground, one hand on the db rack, db foot forward so it's not a total clown show other than that cheating allowed
Been loving barbell row for a while but im having trouble getting the same old squeeze lately so im about to try chinups, pullups, then dumbell rows after.
>>76806552How do you avoid lower back stress when bb rowing
>>76806569Not being a glassback or a geriatric over 35Alternatively a belt and proper form
>>76806449Cable rows. specifically low to high wide grip and high to low narrow grip.
I started doing Yates rows recently and they've been feeling great. Other than that I like doing chest supported/seal rows. Pendlay rows are fun too for explosive power.
>>76806569I never really had that problem with barbell row, and i grew up with childhood skuliosis and a bad back. Maybe you need to do some core work?
>>76806449Manmaker rows look compelling. I'm going to try it on rings next time I do ring pushups.
>>76806658It looks like a total meme to me, that you could never do with enough weight to challenge your lats.
>>76806569How much do you row?
barbell rows are shit. best row is meadows row
>>76806699>It's a t-bar/landmine row but you look like a dafodill doing itNo thanks
>>76806669True. But I'm a calisthenics fag and don't do heavy weights so it could work for my purposes.
>>76806709More like a fancy chest-supported machine row. Because of the arc the bar makes the weight starts in front of you but finishes to your side, it's more natural and gives you a potentially longer ROM than t-bar/landmine rows. Also you can go pretty heavy so it's not gay. I still prefer good old db rows but they're neat.
>>7680667480kg - pendlay row to avoid aforementioned lower back issue. Dunno about regular BB rows, probably much less, like 65-70kg
band resisted inverted row. something I came up with. basically some band pegs and a power rack. place band across power rack and pull body through band. the thing I like about this one is it's so easy to setup and very effective.
>>76806569Don't do bb rows (esp if you're tall), not everyone has good proportions for it and it's easy to hurt yourself in a dumb way. Switch to chest supported rows or db/kroc rows, it's absolutely not worth it to nuke your lower back by doing rows.
>>76807787I guess this asshole already came up with it. Whatever dude
>>76807787>>76807815isn't it easier to wear a weighted backpack while doing the exercise? same as with weighted pullups/dips
>>76806449T-bar>>76806464Two of the worst on the list
>>76807825No. I can add 100+lbs resistance easily with a band. Weight vests become very painful to load very quickly not to mention the costs. Plus they feel weird in rows with the strap under the armpit it can impede ROM. I can scale the resistance much quicker and easier with bands
>>76806569You don't. Lower back stress is a feature not a bug
people who don't do anything for a living don't mind their lower back being burnt out 7 days a week
>>76806449Cable or t-bar
>>76806449Are gorilla rows good? I like them because they make me feel like a gorilla.
>>76806449essentials: single arm high row, heavy mid row, cable long pull with grip variants, heavy low row. also do linear row whenever i come across this machine. nothing feels like growing ur lats to the point it hangs or looks as if it's melting down per gf.
>>76806449Pendlay rows for barbells, standing kroc rows off the back of an inclined bench for dumbbells. But rows are the one thing that cables and chest supported machines are just better.
>>76808060Didn't understand a word of that. Are they all machines?
>>76806449Barbell rowSmith machine rowLow row machine
>>76806449are helms row good or did i fall for a meme?
>>76806449yates row
besides doing weighted pullups i only do 2 kind of rows , and back is my best looking muscle group , medium mag grip cable row with flare elbows and unilateral chest supported machine row with elbows tucked
>>76806569Do t bar rows, chest assisted, or just a Yates row
>>76808261My gym only has a t-bar row machine rather than the one screwed into the ground, the angles are all wrong and there's nothing gained from using it over a regular bent over row
cable and meadowshonourable mention: inverted
>>76806449Cable row or any chest supported row because my back is fucked
>>76807857Deadliftlet
>>76806580>geriatric over 35did u really have to do me like that, bro....
>>76809391I like inverted rows but I can do like 12-15 and don't see an easy way of adding weight
>>76806449I loved the Kroc Row, with proper form my whole back got destroyed by it. My new gym doesn't have DBs that heavy so I don't do it anymore.
i do the chest supported row with a barbell loaded with 55lbs, it's not alot but it makes sure i have perfect formif i had dumbells in my hand like in that picturei'd be doing reverse flyes
>>76806449All these are terrible
>>76810897woah we got a contrarian over here!
>>76810897Do enlighten us
>>76806449Seated cableI can just load it easier and keep progressing in weight at a good rate still. Most other rows have much slower creep for me.
>>76809391>meadowsthese look hard on the elbows, is that the case?
>>76809412weighted vest and changing the level your feet are at might make it more challenging, i mostly used them to help me get back into shape after being bed ridden for 6 months or as the occasional finisher if i want to do something extra>>76811096i haven't found that to be the case
>>76806449Gorilla rows because ook ook me ape pick up big thing
>>76806449Doesn’t cable work your lats more? I always do it when the zoomtards crowd the lat pulldowns
>>76806569Deadlift
>>76812171Providing you don't flare your elbows
>>76812171Yes, but your back isn't all lats.
>>76813066*yes to pulldowns, vertical pulls in general not cables
Pendlay RowsYou do a full reset with every rep, so you don't get the 'bounce' and lower back strain that you get from regular BB rows. And it's harder to cheat.
