“Science” based lifting is just steroid monkeys quoting garbage studies to sell apps and supplements, “whatever” lifting, as you put it, is gym bros telling you things that they have experienced which may or may not work for you.

the science lifting is really just pseudo science, so it's basically not much better than listening to gym bros and bro science honestly
as long as you go for something that has been done for a long time and stood the test of time, you're usually good honestly
