is that a nipple on my blue board?

Yes

It's one of the most natural and primal movements possible. Imagine lifting a mammoth leg above your head in order to feed your family back at the camp.

I'd argue in terms of """functionality""", the OHP is the most applicable compound movement, especially if youre a tradie who has to do a lot of overhead lifting.

ive been perma stuck at like 60-70kg range for reps for 10+ years now

every single time i try go above 70kg i end up straining my upper traps some how.

i do it all strict pressing, i hear some people switch over to a push-press once they hit 60kg for reps on a strict press, but idk seems kind of stupid to change the form into what is really a cheat press
>>
>>76809062
Same. I thought I was insanely strong because I could push press 115 kg at one point
Then I injured my knee and switched to seated press and was quickly humbled with 75 kg being my 1 rep max.

you probably need advanced programming to progress further
like weeks of high volume and working your way towards higher intensity and lower volume, culminating in heavy sets
there's plenty of literature on such periodization for powerlifters, but I don't recall seeing it for ohp specifically, it's usually an accessory lift in powerlifting
>>
>>76809056
Realistically, carries are the most "funcional" movements.
>>
>>76809134
farmers walks and most back work helps tremendously but the most translatable movement to work (in my experience) is the OHP
>>
>>76809062
You just need to bulk sometimes, if you're hovering between 70-80kg bw getting bigger is the fix. Then you can always cut later, get leaner while keeping the strength
>t. 90kg OHP 3x5, 84.5kg bw

behind the neck press is better in every single way

Don't use such a titillating image as OP on NNN, thanks.
>>

My experience is that there are two main types of labor - repetitive, shoulder heavy stuff, and brute strength moving heavy stuff. I would say press for the first and deadlift for the second.
>>
Wow there really is nothing better than a nice pair of tits in a wife beater with no bra underneath
>>
>>76809018
Based and grug pilled
>>
I think it's the most cheated on lifts and I'm absolutely sure 99% /fit/ posters who claim formidable OHP numbers do some stupid shit like push press.
Going too hard on OHP can easily herniate your upper spine discs if you have bad luck. It's not a longevity exercise and there's a reason it's only young dyels who do it.

All lifts feel good when seeing results. This board praises OHP too much in my opinion.

Your UPPER spine? Is there anything dyels AREN'T afraid of? Or any excuse for their weakness? I'm always remidned of the proverb
>The lazy man says "there is a lion in the streets"

I see you have never herniated a disc but you have a good chance of getting to know what I'm talking about if you'll keep this tough guy attitude.

>Why does OHP feel so good
It doesn't, it exhausts every fiber in my body except my fucking deltoids. I just use dumbells and a chair for maximum isolation.
>>
>>76810849
Been squatting and deadlifting over 10 years now. It's hardly inevitable.
>>
>>76810853
weak faggot
>>

when i was bulking (heaviest 190 @ 5'7") i shot all the way to 180 for reps, but once i cut down i fell back to a reps at ~135 before i worked myself back up to 150. a lot of ohp specifically seems to be mass.
aside from that, what's worked well for me has just been doing varied presses and cable pulls 2x a week.

Ahh 2006, those were the days. Getting tight, teenage pussy on the reg, party several times every week, not a worry in the world, life was good.
Good album too desu.
