Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 1g per lb of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

You could do clean and jerks to get you started, which will be a good way to build base strength for the full body. You could also do bodyweight exercises, and put the plates into a backpack to help you progress, like wearing it while doing pushups.

Man I can't wait to eat normal food like a normal person again, and not worry about calories or portion sizes ALL the time.
I have a bunch of food items I've been salivating about for months now that, while I could easily fit it into my diet, it would make my portions so small that I would either go hungry or it would put me at maintenance or close to it.
Basically I've become hyper fixated min/maxer almost. If it's over 110-120 calories per 100g, I ain't touching it.

Do what I do, and assume most people do as well; overcompensate. Eat 1500 calories a day (which is what is recommended to most normies as it's well within safe levels) and make those at least 80g protein, unless you're aiming to become hueg beefcake.
If you REALLY want to find out how much you burn every day you should very strictly eat a set ammount of calories a day, and by the end of the week see if you gained, lost or maintained, then adjust accordingly.

Personally I'm already done by then. Traditionally I don't eat with restrictions during that time even if I am on a diet, but I've also never been over 29 BMI so take that for what it's worth.

Bro you're just doing extreme measures to stick to calories in, calories out.
Feast and famine, during your eating days you gorge yourself in thousands of calories. During your famine days youre at a 100% TDEE calorie deficit. You can only fit so much into your stomach at once. Arguably you cant get more than 3500~4000 calories a day on your feast days, but thats still 7000 ish calories. Then the famine days are just raw calorie deficits.

Youre actually doing more harm than good, as well, because your lack of consistent eating is reducing your protein availability. I reckon youre not eating 100% protein meals on the feast days.

You're losing fat, but also losing muscle too which is probably why the weight loss is extreme. Your body consumes your basal TDEE whether you want it to or not, your body repairs muscle fibers and cells whether you want it to or not. Muscle will be reabsorbed on that clock.

Starving yourself for too long is just dirty bulking, but in reverse. Of the weight you lose, around 25-35% of the weight loss is muscle mass. Considering the thread, you are NOT working out at the intensity required fo push that down to only a 10% portion of your weight loss being muscle.

Your body does not store protein as it does fats. You essentially use up your protein the second its needed, then the body converts it into glycogen for storage. After 24-36 hours of low protein intake, your body starts breaking down muscle tissue that isnt being used. Your body only uses so much protein a day, based on needs of activity and repair, the rest is just shit out or converted into fat.

Your study you posted also still promotes CICO. They consumed past their calorie limits and they gained weight. Some just gained slightly less weight.

You cant cheat CICO, its even in the thread OP. Its basic energy conservation. All youre doing is claiming you're bulking for eternity if you go above your TDEE when all you're actually doing is cheating yourself in your diet plan.

Feast day meals for me are a 200g steak, 3 boiled eggs with a side of spinach or lettuce and a tomato depending on what's cheapest. If I'm still hungry then I'll add in some cream cheese slathered on a celery stick. For some reason this works and I dont feel hungry afterwards. Not sure if that's good or not but hey it works for me.

probably but I'd rather have to rebuild muscle from a healthier position than continue to be a devastatingly fat fuck who cant even jog for 20 minutes without being out of breath. Weirdly enough I've managed to lift heavier in the gym recently than I have in the last 5 years, although not really that impressive considering how weak I was previously and I've noticed a positive difference in my stamina levels between last month and this one when it comes down to my endurance both when doing cardio and with the sports I've picked back up.
I feel sore most days since I now do some form of workout every day but I dont feel even close to as debilitated as I was 10kg ago. Also for some reason feel less tired all the time which is nice. Never got that when trying to do slow and steady stuff.

I see no reason to stop what I'm doing until I'm down like another 20kg because its working and I feel much better than I used to by a long margin.

Im losing as much fat as possible and working from there. I'm recomping as much as I can while I go but the priority is lose fat. My reasoning that I've already had confirmed is that the less fat I am, the more mobility I gain and the easier it is to build muscle doing the proper movements and actually being able to execute on motions as opposed to having to find a fat person way around how I'm doing things. Already having a reduced gut size has made almost all lifts and exercise I do easier.

Last year I started my weight loss around October. Lost a good 15 lbs. Then Christmas hit, I ate a fuck ton of junk when I went home... completely derailed my diet. My brother is on Tirzepatide. Made really good progress, going from over 280 to 205 in 6 months. He was talking to me about how he wants to get off of it when he hits his goal weight of ~185 (he's 6'2" and [used to be] muscular/strong).

Going off the medication seems like a bad idea to me. Seems like the much smarter move would be to drop down to a lower dose for a year or indefinitely while waiting for his metabolism to recover. All the studies show people regaining a large chunk of the weight after coming off GLP-1s.
What do you guys think?

PS: How do I convince him to slow down his cut to <= 2 lbs per week now? He's still cutting at ~3 lbs per week and is burning lots of muscle. But all he really cares about right now is the number on the scale, not maintaining muscle.

Caved slightly at the end of this week both in fitness and diet. I'm going to use my failure as motivation to make it to Christmas without any lapse in diet and any significant (>2 day) lapse in exercise, even if it's something as simple as just walking a mile.

If I don't count my calories I will way overeat, even on cheat days I can go way over board. If you have audible or know how to pirate ebooks. I recommend listening to "A Guide to the Good Life" by William B Irvine. If nothing else, you'll learn more about ancient Greek philosophy but in all likelihood you'll find something in there that you can bring into your daily life to make it better.
