Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 1g per lb of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

I wrote in here a while ago because I had let myself go really really bad.
I also said my goal was to be less of a disgusting hog in a few months when a friend of mine had a wedding where I'm meant to be the groomsman.
I didn't want to be repulsive to look at on his big day. Or at least less repulsive I suppose.
Today I got myself a suit for his wedding. I won't be turning any heads, but at least I won't have to hide in shame, that's a big relief.
Should be able to lose around another 4-8 kgs until the wedding still.

Inb4 you should have gotten a better suit - I'm not exactly swimming in cash and at the rate I'm losing weight at right now, investing in an expensive suit just isn't smart - I still have a long ways to go.
The wedding is also not a big one, the big party is scheduled a year from now.
Thus, this one is a cheap off-the-rack suit, but I will get it tailored still (I'm aware my arms are too short/the sleeves too long).
Then on to reaching my goal weight (still got a long ways to go) and in a year when the big celebration will be I'll get another suit for that goal weight. That one I'll be able to splurge on then.

I'm fairly certain a substantial amount of my "socially desirable traits" are insincere and stem from a narcissistic desire to be perceived as good, rather than from a genuine desire to be good. I had a frozen pizza yesterday. Shouldn't have, I had a long day, didn't feel like cooking and I caved.
I ate very little today to try and atone for my sins, will go to bed hungry and tough it out until tomorrow, that should fix it somewhat.

I'm not a breakfast guy (coffee with milk and maybe an egg).
As for dinner, one of these 4:
- Mualle (turkish lentil stew. Takes a while to cook though, I make mine in a rice cooker with a slow cooker setting)
- protein veggie pan (usually chicken or frozen shrimp for protein, a shitload of broccoli and whatever's in season and doesn't have high carbs for veggies. Vary sauces and veggies so it doesn't get stale.
- Oven roasted eggplant with pepper filling, chickenbreast and green beans (green beans are underrated for cheap filler veggies)
- Frozen trout with mediterranean veggies. Cheap, easy and filling.

Those 4 make up about 90% of what I eat, and they are easy enough to vary (esp. the veggie pan) that I don't think I'll easily get tired of it. Other than the mualle (which is worth it) they're also not things that take very long to make.

I think the fear is less that I'm being inauthentic or insincere (I might very well be, but I don't really blame myself that much for it), but rather that a large part of my personality is the result of me optimizing for external validation based on a value system I didn't really spend any time critically questioning.
I'll just have to spend some time working through it and it'll probably pass.

I've been doing OMAD for about 5 days now and it's been going great, can't imagine doing this outside of keto but I'm genuinely full and don't get hungry the entire day. It's like a cheat code or something, don't even think about food outside of my one meal

I must have tried on something like 30 suits that day, different cuts and different price points (up to 4x the price of the one I chose in the end) and while the severity varied, they all had this sleeve issue. I seem to just have disproportionally short arms for my torso, it is what it is.

4-4-9 rule.
Protein is 4 calories per gram.
Carbs are 4 calories per gram.
Fat is 9 calories per gram.
Just use your kitchen scale and weigh it out, make an educated guess on it's composition, then multiply. You can estimate reduced carbs if one of the ingredients is something like cabbage, onion, zucchini, or other extremely low-carb foods. But, usually it's just safer to err on the side of caution if you did not make it and didn't calculate the calories yourself.

if you're not doing a low-carb/keto diet, my go-to was MPE (meat, potatoes, eggs). You can play with the amounts of each, add different protein or veg to switch things up. lt's a fantastic base to build off of and keeps you full and satiated (thanks potatoes) all fucking day.

The best method I found is finding something simple enough to make in 15-20 minutes, that has versatility and can be tweaked to not get stale. Kind of the reason I restrict myself to 3 eggs a day. Eggs are so important a food on keto that I don't want to burn out on them by having a shitload each day

oh also if you don't have a slow cooker or air fryer, invest in them. Slow cooker keto meals are easy as sin, get a bunch of meat, brown them (or don't) and throw in along with all the veggies you want and some broth. Wait 8 hours and you have enough high fat/protein soup to last you the week.

Air fryer just makes cooking 1-2 servings of protein or veggies super easy so you can focus on making the rest of the meal or just dick around until it's ready

225. Super long way away, but I'm breaking this up into 2 different phases. From where I am now to 300, then from 299 to 225. So about 70-75 pounds each as of right now.

If all goes well I should be cresting under 300 by EoM June next year, from there it'll probably take another 9ish months to get to 225. Going super aggressive on diet for now while slowly incorporating increasing amounts of exercise as my weight drops.

A bit of both, I'm down 30 kgs so far, got another 20 to go until I reached my goal. I wasn't TSL levels of fat, but (especially for european levels) in most pictures in public spaces I was the fattest person in it by a comfortable margin. Issue is I have very little muscle (disability related) so those 30 kgs made daily life substantially harder for me, more than they'd do for a healthy person.

Interesting, I used to be depressed. Thankfully my overinflated ego made me think using meds was "the cowards way out" so I refused those and got therapy instead. Glad to say it worked out for me, depression free for somewhere between 1-2 years now (bit hard to define when the threshold of "no longer depressed" was reached).
