also I just saved this image from google, didn't realize until now that the grip is retarded
this is the proper way
>>
>>76840193
But I do? Just wish my gym would have the machine. Went to a gym like 10 years ago that had it and it was sick.

>why you don't

I'm scared of dropping it on my head so I use cables instead.
>>
>>76840193
>>76840194
I've always done it the second way because it feels more natural on my hands, but what's the difference between both grips? What's wrong with the first one?
>>
>>76840193
I do it with an EZ curl bar
>>
>>76840266
it's very uncomfortable for your shoulders and just retarded/unstable
i used to do them with kettlebells out of laziness (very similar impractical close neutral grip) and got pain from it
im sure it's fine with multiple dumbbells like that tho
>>
>>76840266
try both. Doing it the 2nd way rotates your shoulders out, which feels less impinging
>>
>>76840193
One of my favorite exercises.
I do them on back day and flare my elbows to hit lats more. Yeah it still works chest and tris, but I'm okay with that.
>>
>>76840375
it only really works your chest if you lay on a bench instead of across it
>>
>>76840193
Because weighted ab wheel does the same thing.
>>
Main reason? I'm not a bodybuilding faggot.
Secondary reason? Weighted dips.
>>
>>76840193 do they expand ur ribcage?
>>
>>76840435
no they dont
>>76840440
I do weighted dips and pullovers
>>76840466
yes, you have intercostal muscles in your ribcage that grow
>>
>>76840193
Because I don't want every at the gym to think I'm a dyel
>>
>>76840491
they already think that right as you walk in anyway
>>
>>76840193
>You have 5 seconds to explain why you don't do them
i kinda sorta do:
>>76840339
>>>dragon flag but with full hip flexion - upper abs
so lying on the floor with 2 light dumbbells in outstretched (to my front) arms i am bending knees and hips fully and then i lift pelvis up and hold
legs folded prevent iliopsoas from acting - it can't flex cause relevant joints are already too flexed
i am not holding onto anything though and only my head and upper spine is on the floor, i move dumbbells past shoulders just to counterbalance lower body lifted with abs
and yes i feel it IN SHOULDERS FUCKING SCREAMING AT ME TO STOP !!!!

just kidding, i feel it on my ribs, where the pictured very important muscle lies :D

shown like here
>>76840194
with retracted shoulders and contorted the other way spine it will BE shoulder fuckerino and retard lat movement

U SHOULD FEEL RIBS NOT SHOULDERS
>>
>>76840610
>shoulders are always stronger than ribs
i do this >>76840602

quite regularly bot, my shoulders are better than ever, and i feel it on the ribs
>>76840610
>same as with psoas and ab
yes i solved that also and u are mad about it :D

move dumbbells just far enough to provide counterbalance while lying on the floor with legs curled up all the way
>>
>>76840193
I have a cable machine, so I just do lat pushdowns
>>
>>76840637
you mean lat prayers? those are ok, but not as effective i think
the strength curve feels weird. like it's two parts

I do them john meadows' way
I never understood the whole weird back arch on the bench thing
>>
>>76840993
arch on the bench gives more leverage to the lats and more stretch
>>
>>76840193
They're not in my current routine. Still a great exercise that I will incorporate.
>>
>>76841087
>arch on the bench gives more leverage to the lats and more stretch
and more shoulder fuckeroo :D and more lats and less serratus - it's garbage:
>>76840993
innit interesting how close is that thing to mine bot ? :D

it neither hits lats nor chest for full ROM, just partially. so why bother

>you're retarded if you think an unsupported variation has less serratus
see bot, we can have nice things xD
it doesn't fucking matter that u talk with 100 fake voices blabbering bullshit all day :D

i think my variant, that is actual abs exercise
>>76840602
works serratus also so well because lat is stretched with curling of lower spine (with full hip flexion in otherwise dragonflag setup)
yes bot, i know some anatomy and lat is attached to pelvis which is curled up UP AND AWAY

and that's why there's no shoulder pain - cause u don't pull with lat like and retard fucking your shoulders thinking u're doing something else lol
like this picture of yours bot:
>>76840194
why is pelvis dropped so low and lumbar hyperextended so much? much much moar than in your OP bot cause it's ALL LATS :d

zero shoulder discomfort and warm tingling on the sides of ribs should be felt, and that is what i feel when i do it :D and abs of course :D
>but it doesn't feel like abs blah blah
because previously you (and I and errybody else) WRONGLY associated psoas ache with abs strain
>but hooman, i feel my abs so much with machine crunches/decline crunches blah blah
>it's as if sb punched me in the guts
abs lay very superficial, "guts" is psoas bot

and in this very thread bot is trying to convince you that your should feel shoulders in pullovers lol :D
>>76840610
>Cool pipe dream, schizo, shoulders are always stronger than ribs, so you will feel shoulders more, same as with psoas and abs.

bwahah :D even that dead idiot was suspecting something:
>>76841294
>>
>>76840193
I do but incline ones only
>>
>>76840193
I don't own a bench
>>
>>76843229
>>
>>76841087
It doesn't. Just lay on the bench and move the dumbbell lower behind your head lol, same leverage and stretch without the awkward unstable position. The only ROM difference is you divide it in two directions. Think of it this way: if you move your right hand 10 cm away from your left; or you move both hands 5cm apart; in which case is the distance bigger? It is the same...
>>
>>76840193
To do them I would have to lift. Do you think anyone here lifts? lmao
>>
>>76841344
pretty sure he did it one handed
>>
>>76840193
But I do, as a warm up before bp
>>
>>76840193
Did them for years and they're mostly ineffective. got to a heavy weight for high reps too.

for a short period in my life i had a gym friend that let me use his legs as an anchor for the bands
it was one of the best feelings in the world
>>
My right shoulder has shitty mobility so it's hard to do properly
>>
I use two dumbbells. I don't like the one arm variant because it feels like cheating since the weight is 2.25 of the single version.
>>
>>76840193
The picture is bad. It's a bad posture for the spine. You can do this exercise with your whole back on the bench, it's much better.
>>
>>76840193
i do them on cable machine kneeling
>>
>>76840193

>>
>>76840194
How does the bottom half not swing towards your head on decline?
>>
>>76840193
my humorus rolls out of the shoulder capsule when arms are close together and fully extended and pulled backwards in this position. Not sure why. Shoulders othersie very healthy and I can do behind the nexk presses and pullups/chinups no problem. But pullovers, nope.
>>
>>76842094
I do the lying triceps extensions that way, hammer grip and the two dumbbell stuck together. EZ bar feels much better, but I can push more with the dumbbell since I know I dumping them is easier. Probably it doesn't work the same and the bot schizo will come in hot with a wall of text but yes, two dumbbell version is an ok option
>>
>>76840193
I do them twice a week. I'm totally a DYEL but my teres and lats noticeably pop out after I hit some sets. Feels good man.
>>76845076
You've got it all wrong. Extending the spine lets you get way more out of the exercise, especially for the back and for shoulder mobility. You also get a free exercise for the intercostal muscles, which expands your ribcage over time.
Do you just think that any spine bending under load ever = bad no matter what?
>>
>>76845729
>lying triceps extensions that way
they are lying to you, this is the only triceps extensions that make sense:
>>76828244
it's all good he will live in his richardalo pianeololo triceps extensions with powerband hooked on wrist with fulcrum on biceps side of working arm on a pillow between said arm and knee - these were his last dying words:
> it's tha best, isometric hold that builds all 3 heads of triceps without fucking anything up cause load does not go to shoulder joint at all, internally rotate shoulder as u do it cause long head will try to rotate it externally
he said, i know i was there :D

with lying triceps u're tormenting the long head cause it extends elbow but also goes below shoulder joint to scapula where it jams in this position into bones of joint
and u're extending elbow and performing shoulder extension at the same time with that long head

needles to say lateral head won't grow from that cause it won't be doing anything in particular - the load is too little

>Probably it doesn't work the same
it doesn't
>and the bot schizo will come in hot with a wall of text but yes, two dumbbell version is an ok option
aha, u gotta just press em together for that sweet sweet long head biceps tendon torment cause reasons :D

>especially for the back
yeah, cause u're using lats in very precarious for shoulders way
>and for shoulder mobility
oh yes sooo mobile, the more it hurts the more mobile it is right? right?

>>76840602
>with retracted shoulders and contorted the other way spine it will BE shoulder fuckerino and retard lat movement
>U SHOULD FEEL RIBS NOT SHOULDERS

>You also get a free exercise for the intercostal muscles, which expands your ribcage over time.
chest is collapsed cause lumbar is extended thoracic is flexed

if u lie flat on the floor and curl lumbar spine up like i say then yes: chest is expanding cause thoracic is extended - thoracic extension expands chest bot, ribs are attached to thoracic spine, at least they were the last time i checked lol :D

I don’t even know if these are good for hypertrophy, the stretch just feels so good so I spam them. It’s like bodybuilder yoga.
