I went surfing this year and it gassed me out, so i'm looking for a cardio to better prepare me for surfing and also to lose some body fat, but here's the thing:Running: Too high impact, ran into knee and ankle issues, i also think it may hinder my weight lifting which i am very passionate about and is priority number 1Exercise circuits: Probably the best option but frankly i dont want to do it, it's just a miserable timeSwimming: Another great option but i would have to pay another gym membership so it's out of the questionIncline walking on a treadmill: That's the most attractive option for me at the moment. It's low impact and great for burning fat, but i wonder if it'll be enough for building endurance for surfingAnyone here have any experience with this? Would incline walking build my cardiovascular endurance for surfing to a satisfying degree? I know that it certainly will have some impact, but will it be enough to help me with 1 hour and 20 minute surfing sessions? The most challenging part about surfing is you're constantly moving your body, and the classes last 1 hour and 20 minutes so it's pretty significant. You have to be contantly swimming and pulling yourself up to the board several times, and i'm a beginner so i dont have the skill efficiency to do these things with minimal effort, it actually takes a toll because i'm not experienced.Other options besides incline walking that i have available and that i would do are rowing and cycling. Rowing seems to be the one that most mimic surfing out of these 3 but i prefer incline walking, but i would do rowing if it's a significantly better option
>>76866939We have this thing called skateboarding that was invented by surfers for just this purpose.
Also i forgot to mention but i'm learning to surf in a place with pretty big waves for a beginner (arpoador beach), so it's far from the conditions you see on OP pic lol>>76866945I dont want to get injured, one fall is all that it takes
>>76866970Then don't fall.Get a longboard and don't go faster than you feel comfortable stopping. It's really pretty easy stuff. It's trick skaters that have to deal with all the injury stuff.
surfing is one of those things you can't really supplement to a meaningful degree. Kind of like climbing, if you want to climb better, just climb more. With surfing outside of lessons there's a ton of downtime where you're basically just floating hanging out waiting for the swell. There's some really gay and expensive things like paddle trainers if you're dead set on not getting into the water.
>>76866939>can go surfing>can't swim without a gymHave you considered swimming in the ocean?
are you retarded? losing weight is mostly nutrition, just eat less and keep surfing and you will lose weight and your body will adapt to the cardio necessary for the activity
>>76866939Surfing is fun but the hobby has been totally ruined by bougie nigger faggots. Anywhere you try to go is completely mobbed by cunts and you maybe get a dozen or two waves. And God forbid you try and go to a secluded beach, then you have CHP telling to love on or worse they tow your car.
I would suggest a mix of calisthenics stuff like devil press, rope jump, mountain climbers, pushups, and burpees
>running: too high impactwhat in the fuck. what are people who say this made of? high impact is something like rugby you fucking doll
>>76866939when i was surfing a lot i had a friend what was a bodybuilder who was getting into it and he asked the same questions. i'll tell you the same thing i told him, don't obsess yourself with silly exercises just fucking surf more.
>>76866939>standing gassed me outok faggot
>>76866970>I dont want to get injured, one fall is all that it takeshow can falling in water injure you
Thanks everybody for the tips i appreciate it>>76868525Legit advice, thanks. I was just hoping there was something i could do to get my cardio up because i dont want to cut another surfing lesson short lol, it was embarassing and i threw money away. I'm just gonna do some incline walking for long distances and hopefully it'll help>>76868538he was talking about skating anon
>>76868538>how can falling in water injure youfalling in water can hurt depending how fast you're going. also if you're falling it's because you're up, which means there is a good chance you're on a wave and even something small like chest high is still hundreds of gallons of water and it hurts when that falls on YOU.>>76868538well, good cardio in general you're going to want to simply run or HIIT if you have absolutely to do something beyond that. i was a runner back in those days so i guess that would have helped me without thinking about it too much, but i didn't worry about what exercises were going to help me surf better and i went from total noob to paddle strength to survive double overhead from just surfing as much a possible in the 8 months before my first hurricane sesh. and that was at 32. i don't know where you are but i was fortunate to be able to just walk across the street and i was going every morning and evening in that time.
Cardio is really gay and overrated. It trains your body to be skinnyfat with an enlarged dysfunctional heart. I recommend just walking and finding some form of HIIT you can tolerate if you really can't stand doing some sprints.
>>76870434hey and don't waste your money on surf lessons at all, it costs nothing to float around and wait for water to push you. paying someone isn't going to teach you balance, you learn that yourself and it's all the same except some "expert" isn't yelling at you to do something.
>>76866939Pilates could work. Low intensity, mucho core and balance training. Also, full of tight women for that extra sexual tension gain.
>>76866939kettlebell swings. add some kb squats and OHP too and this will be perfect for surfing.
