Any other 30 yo boomers stretch all the time out of pure necessity? I would have back pain 24/7 if i didnt stretch every day
getting stronger glutes with box squats did more for my back than anything
>>76867318I was doing stretches every day until three months ago. I still don't have any back pain.

34, was a competitive cyclist for a decade, always worked behind a desk, sat behind a desk to game when I wasn't doing either of the others. I married a well established massage therapist from our city and she said I was one of the most stiff people she's ever worked on. When I stretch now and it is probably more valuable to my health than working out because it is a work out. When I get done I feel like I have to relearn to walk for the better. In fact, I didn't even go for a walk today because I could still feel my stretches from last night and instead took a long nap. If I didn't stretch I wouldn't feel pain, but I'd have terrible posture, be practically unable to work out and be largely incapable of anything but hunched walking. And if not now, real soon. I've ridden this body hard and put it away wet, I'm just trying to give it the care I always should have.
>>76867318you need to balance stretching with strengthening. Your muscles get tight because they're weak. They are tightening to protect themselves. Work on doing loaded stretches. Strengthening the muscles while in a stretched position. It's the best of both worlds. Don't believe me. Do some incline flye presses at a 5-5-5 tempo 5 down, 5 pause in the stretch, 5 up. Or even just chill doing the bottom of a BSS with some wieghts in your hand.
