What's stopping you from doing a combat sport?
>>
>>76868190
My strikes are lethal. Bone crushing natural power.
>>
>>76868190
No need to feed my inner demons of violence and rage even further. It's like asking a recovering alcoholic why he isn't frequneting pubs ans bars. Pretty sure if I got muscle memory of strikes and kicks and other moves ingrained into me enough I'll accidentaly elbow someone in the temple without even realizing it happened.
>>
>>76868190
It's just legitimately not interesting. There's no nerdy aspect to it
>>
>>76868494
A lot of people think that about liting but nerds min/max the best

I'm already dumb enough as it is I don't need head trauma making things worse.

S'cool though.

Did blowjobjob and mmgay for a month and fucking hated it. Might try muay thai but I love lifting so far.
>>
I’m a lover not a fighter
>>

Lifting is a complete prebuilt scaffold for a nerd autist to insert his entire schedule into

I just don't feel the same way about boxing or judo
>>
>>76868190
A change in my job schedule made it incompatible to attend my local gym's Muay Thai classes. It was fun, oh well, maybe sometime in the future.

Got a concussion once from a bike accident and I'm afraid to get hit in the head because it was scary. Kinda wanted to do Muay Thai tho
>>
>>76868190
I've taken too many blows to the head already

I always feel weird during combat sports, like I shouldn't be going all out since its kind of a dick move and I don't want to hurt people, but then I feel like I'm pussying out when people spar me. It's just a weird inbetween. Like I don't really mind if someone gives me a bloody nose or something but when I sweep someone or bruise them up bad I feel like a fucking asshole that was sparring too hard. I just don't get it.
>>
Most places just make you exercise and have no intention of making a fighter out of you.
>>
people in my weight class are either terrifying monsters of pathetic blobs like boogie and wings.
>>
I did kickboxing for about a month and I hated having to spar with a beginner chick literally 1/3 my height and weight.
Like I know I'm a beginner too, but I could probably downright crack her skull open like an eggshell with a punch, and break her femur with a simple kick.
And everything else I could do at home with my own heavy bag and gloves.
I do miss the rare good sparing sessions with a guy roughly my size, who could actually hold the fucking pad or dish out some punches.
>>
>>76868190
Ive had numerous eye surgeries on my right side. Going around getting punched in the face isn't really in my best interests. I do HEMA instead because it's fun and hits to the head are minimal and well-protected
I also play paintball

Im currently weighing the pros and cons between bjj and wrestling, deciding which to try out first and could be more beneficial in a sudden self defence fight assuming no weapons are involved
>>
>>76868190
I don't have money or a car atm. But I'm open to learning a martial art or equivalent in case I need to protect myself or my bf.
Which is the one for me if I'm a 140lb twink who loves yoga and swimming and doesn't want a higher risk of brain trauma than necessary?
>>
>>76868190
The learning curve is too long and I'm too old to take 5 years just to stop looking like a clown at it. It also lost all practical application since nowadays it's always one against 5 people with knives and even if you win, you go to jail, so I may as well do something else that has any practical effects.
>>
>>76868190
I'm a massive fucking pussy and I don't like being shit among people who are better than me.

I've yet to step into a MA gym that shits on beginners. its always the nicest people you can meet because everyone knows what its like when you begin
Just sign up, trust me its one of the best decisions of my life

Bjj so you can get topped by a fat hairy man
>>

I can already do that every night it's pretty cool
>>
sports that involve getting hit in the head are retarded literally go bang your head against a wall repeatedly, sport
>>
>>76868190
I did some Muay Thai for a while. It was really fun, but my current life situation makes the scheduling a pain.
Classes are 4-5 times per week at most gyms in my area. I travel for work most weeks and end up out of town for at least two of those, and then I've got lifting (which is higher priority) three times per week. Then there's any other life stuff that might get in the way, like plans with my wife or our families etc.
I can realistically make it to 1-2 classes per week on average, and that's just not enough time invested to really make progress training what is fundamentally a skill sport. If I stop traveling so much for work (hopefully soon) and can make it 3+ times per week before I'm too old, I'll probably go back.
>>
I get hurt lifting lightly and i already have a fucked jaw joint. Also i already lost consciousness twice to traffic accidents and have tinnitus.
I don't want to risk any of these things getting worse.
>>

wasnt it not so recently understood that BJJ has just as high a risk of brain damage due to oxygen cutting holds
