Why are there so many social media accounts pushing machines over free weights now? Are they actually better?
Most retards in the gym dont know how to fail lifts safely so they rely on the guillotine as if it would save them
>>76869061Because for some reason the concept of variety eludes people. You have retards only using barbells, or kettlebells, or machines. You can mix things up. It's probably best if you did mix shit up
>>76869076yeah but that's like owning an xbox 360 AND a ps3
>>76869081Not really
Because machines are usually better when there's a good machine option alternative for the specific muscles you want to work
>>76869061Basically they are lazy and you get all the isolation benefit. Just none of the strength. Perfect for vapid zoomers
>>76869061Because everyone has their rotator cuff fucked so they can't stabilize for shit and the thought of asking someone for a spot either fills them with an existential dread or they've already brought a gaggle of faggot friends and occupied the bench for a week.
>>76869061Incline dumbbell press > bench
>>76869061Because trends come and go in a cyclical fashion. Barbells and free weights were all the rage until a few years ago. They'll be the "new" meta a few years down the line again.Same reason why Mentzer and HIT's popularity comes and goes every decade or so.
>>76869096Yeah, true
>>76869122I just wonder why even try to go for hypertrophy if the tendon won't be able to handle the weight. Tendons definitely take more time to recover and build but beefing them up vs being able to push 110% are 2 different things. Also the weight is always objectively way lighter than freeweights, bar path or whatever. Do you train freeweights only? I'm trying to make my tendons strong since I reached a point where every bench session hurts like shit during the rep not only after from machines/cables for 50% or more to keep lifting more days a week.
>>76869170Read what you just posted and tell me that it makes sense at all.
>>76869170For strong tendons do heavy isometrics for ~30s then ~10s negatives. Use at least 100 of your 1rpm but preferably more (cheat the weight up). 3 or 4 sets
>>76869170I've started peptides and I'm back to benching, but only at pathetic 2pl8s. 4pl8s on the plate loaded press does NOT translate to freeweights at fucking all.Although at this point I'm only working out to maintain not dying from being a dyel. After 35 it's all downhill.
>>76869114Another better option is trying to get someone to move cables or switch out and change the weights and attachments but you already know what their deal is. I want to step way behind the cables for an inner chest pump and I don't wanna wait until 10pm.
>>76869114B.b...but functional fitness senpai. How are you going to squat up your fallen comrade in the battlefield if you have poor hip hinge balance due to machine usage?
Machines are great>sit down, same seat setting as last time and you’re in place, no need to worry about angling the bench correctly with perfect geometry to hit the muscles equally>just adjust the weight setting by flipping a switch / sticking the pin in. Progress tracking is super easy no need to run around the gym looking for mismatched 45s >way better for hitting failure than having to worry about caving your chest in or breaking the floor >perfect path every single time, you’re not going to give your rotator cuff an ouchie wowchie or some other join inflammation/pulled muscle from going too hard>perfect form every single time >when you leave the machine you get free mires and mogs when the next people see exactly what weight you were doing and them being forced to deload it
>>76869181Ive had machines make weight progress to the point of tendons still being the weak point, I look like I lift more than I do since I am usually trying to maximize hypertrophy and prefer bulking all the time but still prefer prison rep freeweights due to being able to adjust angles more and barbell since it's the best way to get dense muscle, but 3-10 sets sometimes of different variants/rep ranges and maybe half dumbbells/cables/machines.
>>76869188Interesting, if I wanna feel my tendons get tapped out I usually just do full rom in the lower rep range, dbs also but I feel it a little too much in my tendons all the time so I'm just working through the pain trying to get them beefy I'll have to try isometrics.
>>76869061because for some reason most gyms don't have safeties on their bench, and ever since covid people are too shy to ask for a spot
>>76869194It's weird I was doing machines mostly for a little but and low reps too but it seems like you don't keep as much of the pump, but freeweights are the only way I ever got DOMS in the deep muscle fibers. If you're older and want muscle asap just try gymratting and eating a ton for a month to see what kinda size gains to expect at current lifting iq so when you don't wanna put on needless fat you're still making good progress.
what about dips?
>>76869061DYELs love meme exercises
>>76869923that's why i stopped squatting and deadlifting.too many people doing these meme bullshit exercises and still can't lmao get a girlfriend or a job
>>76869061>Why are there so many social media accounts pushing machinesKikes using jeets to spread negative propaganda to the goyim
>>76869935Post body
>>76869061>Psst kid>Hey! Kid!>You hate putting in hard work to make gains?>W-what if I told you that you could just put in no real hard work and make the same/better gains?>W-would you watch my content and buy my supps?>Wouldjya??Literally the same shit all the time Roiders tell natties they can get huge doing fuckall and natties believe them because they want to despite knowing deep down that they're all roidtrannies
>>76870033All that would do is prove my point further, squandering your buttcheek ass argument in absolutement.
>>76869114This.
>>76870145>no body posted
>>76869061Same reason Atkins was a thing, same reason keto was a thing, same reason pilates was a thing, same reason ab lounge was a thing, same reason 8 minute abs was a thing. People are lazy, and desperate to believe there is an alternative to the tried and true methods of diet and excercise. Its why everyones fat ass and their fucking mum is on Ozempic. Fitness tapes, smoothie machines, books, supplements, pharmaceuticals talk shows its a billion dollar industry they have the answer for why you dont look the way you want, and you wont have to work as hard. Of course now it's fitness influencers shilling whatever the fuck these morons will gobble up, olive oil perhaps. If you can't figure out the reason, usually in today's world the answer is to get your money. Now physique and strength are equally as important, and there is nothing more effeminate than a weak man. So always do more free weights than machines.
Everyone in this thread post body rn. Almost smith machine is based and I’m jacked.
Machines have their place, but people today think they must make a binary choice between free weights and machines for retarded reasons, and often they don't even really know how to use machines very well. You have the glassback crowd that uses machines because they believe themselves to be weak and vulnerable to everything but Platonic ideal movement patterns, the weird black and white thinking aspies who believe barbells magically injure you and machines magically don't, women and lazy people who see influencers and grifters claiming easy, no-effort sets on a machine will get you the exact same results as a more strenuous program, and narcissists and looksmaxxers who don't care for anything except how physically large they appear right at this moment (and future consequences be damned). Most people would be a lot healthier and happier if they approached fitness with a mindset based on building resilience through gradual exposure, whether to standard progressive overload of common ranges or to unstable or weird positions, and they would develop better all-around strength as a result. Like... bending your back under load is actually completely fine, if you progress into it appropriately, but the pervading tone in fitness is that it will make ur spine explode instantly, and this gets smeared onto movements like squats or deadlifts in which most people end up bending their backs at some point due to fatigue even if the back doesn't bend in 'perfect' form (though actually it still does). The conversation gets confused when you have people citing studies performed on elite bodybuilders or on totally untrained people and using them to promote fitness regimens that the average gymgoer won't really get a lot out of, and the fact that so many people use roids or TRT or peptides these days just makes it even harder to unravel fitness knowledge that works for everyone from fitness knowledge that mostly just works if you're on gear.
>>76869234That's a sweet looking helmet. Too bad it's four hundred fucking dollars
>>76869061Great stability is something you should look for on exercises if you want hypertrophy as it allows you to increase the loads that you can rep, that's why no one shills the yoga balls shitty lift.>>76869114I really want one of those machines that isolate your lats, once you start pulling down +150 lbs for reps your wrists and biceps can get in the way. Even if you use straps you are still using your biceps.
>>76869129/thread
If my gym had expensive panatas, prime and hammer str machines I probably would rarely use free weight, the issue is that few gyms have those and my gym is filled with matrix crap and total strength machines which sucks ass.
>>76870884Most people aren't lifting enough to need any stability.
>>76869061Some isolation exercises are better when performed in a machine. And some people feel more “safe” using them. But that’s all I can say, not a big fan of them.
