>go to 5k race because friend convinced me>can barely jog for more than a few minutes before getting windedWtf, I have a resting heart rate of 60 and a highly physical job, why can't I run? I thought there would be at least some carryover from other cardio
Unless you're a galley slave physical jobs are not as demanding on the cardiovascular as you might think. They're more soul crushing. I bet if you get a HR monitor you can get to zone 4 just by walking on flat ground.
>>76871613>carryover from other cardiowhy would you assume that and ''other cardio'' typically means no cardio around these parts
>>76871613well yeah your body isn't used to the specific movement mechanics of running
It's astonishing you had the self-belief that you could run a 5km with no training. Maybe you're a dreamer, or maybe youre ignorant and delusional.Humans are built to run but as the famous anecdote goes "You use it, or lose it". Things like VO2 max which is important for circulating oxygen efficiently around your body during bouts of cardio needs to be rebuilt over time if you have an underdeveloped aerobic ability. You can see improvements over weeks and it takes maybe 4-6 weeks of training to get to an adequate level before you can run a 30 minute 5km.Its likely a lot of your body is underdeveloped for running. Muscles, form, tendons. It's worth noting muscles can develop faster than the tendons can adapt. This means you shouldn't try to do too much too fast because you can injure yourself. There's also pitfalls like shin splints that you can encounter as your bones arent used to the repeated striking, especially on concrete. Another reaosn to build up using programs such as couch to 5km and not trying to run too fast (i.e. sprinting and then slowing down). Keep a steady pace. When I go from 1 year of no running to training running it takes around a month before I can go from poor running to 9 minute mile 5kms.
There is carryover, you just don't know how to pace yourself.
>>76871613lmao
>>76871613rhr of 60 isn’t particularly good.
>>76871613what happens to ur capacity
>>76871749>There is carryover, you just don't know how to pace yourself.lol there's nothing to carry over; OP doesn't do any cardio.
>>76871613bruh you ain't doing other cardio who you trying to fool. anyone half fit can jog a 5k.
