how common is genuine organ failure from alcoholism? i am 30 and i am having body aches and i am worried my heart is trying to kill me
Are you turning yellow and having internal bleeding?
>>76884972no i am not yellow. i dont get hang overs really but i think its a general withdrawal where i cant think straight and i feel shaky. i sleep upright because i dont like laying down
>>76884979>>76884967just quit cold turkey bro you'll be totally fine
>>76884979I got to a point where i abused a lot of substances with alcohol combine and started to have internal pains. Dont do all that anymore and change my diet and lifestyle and i fint feel lile an aids pateint anymore
At 30 you have time to quit. But you really need to stop now.
stop drinking alcohol you stupid faggot
>>76884967Very common. You should quit but go to a facility if you have withdrawals because you can literally die from alcohol withdrawal
>>76885194this. cold turkey from full on dependency has a good chance of killing you
>>76884967Depends on how much and how long. At 30 you likely do not have any of the organ damage yet. It depends on your genetics and other habits. If you're white, eat a good diet, and lift, you can get away with huge quantities daily for a good while with minimal damage. But the day will come where you actually will. If you are at a point where you will shake if you don't drink, it is likely worth it to go to a detox center if you're worried about withdrawal. You can roll the dice and do a benzo taper on your own if you somehow have access to valium or something similar, but it doesn't rule out the possibility of a seizure. You can slowly taper down if you have the discipline if you're at that point, but that is often hard to do. If you're NOT at that point and can put it down with only minor bodily discomfort, do it now. I have seen niggas get cirrhosis in their 30s. Get your labs done. I've also heard from most people that got pancreatitis/liver probs/kidney probs that it becomes very obvious. You won't be guessing anymore when it's bad. >tl;dr you're probably fine and should stop drinking altogether for at minimum a few months
>>76884967>how common is genuine organ failure from alcoholism? more likely than you assume>i am having body aches the fact you typed this tells me your organs aren't shutting down because that's a feeling you wouldn't ignore or describe as an ache.
I had a swollen liver from alcohol twice in my twenties, got fired from jobs and wrecked a car. It might help to think about why you drink so much, for me it was a combination of being a total loser and failure in life and feeling guilt and shame from a host of bad memories. Alcohol helped me block all of that out and made me feel better about myself. I moved onto Benzos and painkillers once the alcohol no longer worked on its own. The best thing you can do is just stop, once you stop you’ll feel even worse than usual as you won’t have alcohol and drugs to block out all the badness anymore. But over time you will start to tackle issues and solve all the problems you have, the ones which made you drink in the first place. I’m still a total loser but at least now I’m not also a junkie.
>>76884967I don't know about common but it killed my dad. By the end he was on a bottle of vodka a day, probably drinking like that for 10 years. Kidney failure with 3 days in ICU and a month's hospital stay before that. You should probably pick a different hobby.
>>76884979nebulous symptoms like these could ve any number of things and i would much sooner posit stress or psychosido you drink daily? every other day even? if not then you are not an alcoholicgenuine alcoholics drink to function as in they literally depend on alcoholthe first thing they do when they wake up is drink and they drink all day because without it they could even diecheck your poop color if it is pale or yelliw then you could have dysfunctionjaundice (going yellow) is a quite extreme symptomdo you regularly feel bloated? excess fluid is a consequence of liver dysfunctioneither way take a break and also from any other drugstry to chill out and stop worrying about stuff
>>76884967OP I am an alcoholic who has managed to get drinking under control so I can live a normal life. Previously I was drinking a 26 Oz of vodka over 1-2 nights, every night, I reeked like booze everywhere I went, fought/argued with random people at the store or in Public and generally hated myself. Here's some things I noticed1. You'll always wake up feeling like shit, sick, tired, fed up, head buzzing with negative thoughts2. You'll start feeling kidney, liver, and joint pain once you're saturated with alcohol. There was a point I think an ulcer was developing and I felt like I was dying. 3. I started developing bald patches (alopecia) on my head. It went away after I quit drinking 24/7 and got my mental health in check4. You will hurt, abuse, destroy those closest to you, whether of not you're aware of it5. When you finally do quit, the number of years wasted being a drunk will directly relate to your level of regret. You will never get those years back. You'll never get to enjoy your 20s beyond the mess of foggy drunken memories of being absolutely shitfaced and feeling like garbage 6. You'll always be hot as shit, or shivering. Just fucking quit dude, you still have another 10 good years to enjoy in your prime and can set your health up to carry you strong for decades to come. Keep drinking and see how fast life ends.
>>76885655well done anon alcoholism is one of the hardest addictions to break
>>76885410Also this. At the end of the day, we all drink because there's shit we just don't WANT to fucking deal with. When you're forced to be sober, I promise you will bodyslam these fucking obligations and make them your bitch, because there's 0% chance you'll be able to bear the alternative (sitting there sober while your responsibilities mount)
>>76885243I have brain damage more than organ damage. I was a binge drinker. Just 21-25 was enough to fuck me up. My speech and memory are that of a dementia patient
>>76885658Thanks buddy, the fight never ends
>>76884967i think it's a lot more common than many people who are not familiar with hardcore alcoholics, substance abuse counselors, or medical professionals realize. my current boss is a few years younger than me (hold for laughter) and he was such a raging alcoholic that his organs started failing in his early 30s. when he was in the hospital after relapsing for the final time his heart stopped several times and he had to be revived with a defibrillator
>>76884988Don't speak so soon, I think you had a stroke towards the end of that sentence
>>76884967Not common at allKeep chuggin away, Cobes
>>76884967Almost guaranteed to not occur if you get yearly LFTs like you should be.If your liver enzymes are out of range then just stop drinking or take some NAC.
>>76884967drink gallons of water every day.jog six miles a week.eat kale & brown rice
>>76884967liver failure from alcoholism is basically inevitable if you drink heavilyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJ0q6-fY6y0
>>76885655Well done, anon. Ditched the bottle year ago and never looked back.
>>76884967It depends on the relations of you and the god of drinking alcohol Buchus. Besides, drinking alcohol is not just about drinking alcohol. Kind of alcohol is important, with whom to drink this alcohol is important, to which measure to drink this alcohol is important, with whom make love after that is important, what snack use with drinking this alcohol is important, what toasts are pronounced when drinking this alcohol is importaint. Alcohol consuming is a serious art.
I'm glad I was too much of a stubborn faggot to drink when I was younger so I never had the itch to do it after college either
>>76884967It's not as common as the current anti alcohol scare tactics want you to believe, but Im an old fart and I know at least 4 people who have died of cirrhosis, all in their 50s. They were all chronic, heavy, long term drinkers. I also know people who are chronic long term drinkers who made it to nearly 80. It's more common for alcohol to contribute to health problems like high blood pressure or diabetes and make them worse. Try cutting back on the number of drinks you have per day and give yourself at least one day a week of no alcohol to help clear out your liver. You'll feel much better doing this even if you can't stop entirely.
>>76886423Alcohol is such bad news that I honestly believe it is a pall on society that it's so accepted and even encouraged. I know why people think they need it, and that it's because "humankind cannot bear very much reality," but alcohol isn't even close to being a viable solution.
>>76884967I can give you my anecdote:I drank from 30 to 35 years old, roughly 250-500 ml a night, every night. Rough, rough time. Heart pains toward the end and panic attacks which felt like a heart attack. Horrible, horrible shit.I managed to quit and started working out, and after about 4-6 weeks of that, I finally felt normal again. High blood pressure and bad lipids were the main result, but those are back down to normal now.I don't feel like it wrecked me permanently, mainly I just hate that I wasted 5 years.
>>76887404>I don't feel like it wrecked me permanently, mainly I just hate that I wasted 5 years.IKTF, I used to be a major pothead kinda feel the same way lmao. Thinking back on opportunities or chances to do shit I missed because I was high is always depressing to think back on.Good on your Anon, I’ve seen firsthand how bad Alcohol can be to get off of
>>76884967kek you're gonna dieprobably cirrhosis and fatty liver
>>76884967>how common is genuine organ failure from alcoholism?Very.
>>76887395maybe that's the reason - it has enough sides to make most people careful with it (most of the time)
>>76887395What is the solution then? What can you take to cope with how shitty/stressful life is?>inb4 cope answers like “nothing”
>>76887426Thanks man, and good on you for quitting as well. I know it can be hard with weed as so much of the messaging is "weed is fine, it has no impact on your life unlike alcohol" which doesn't help.
>>76884967You are just being poisoned by people around you. Get away from them and you'll be fine. Also stop drinking.
>>76884979Exactly how much do you drink anon? Are you at a fifth a day or past that?
>>76887395The thing is alcohol never solved shit in my life and made everything even more hard. It's just widely accepted drug.>>76887670Genuine answer? Seek God (whatever that means to you), learn how to manage stress through proper relaxation. Some people meditate, some people spend a lot of time in nature.
>>76887385Does one sober day a week really help that much? I'm 30 and getting my first blood tests done later next year. Kinda scared of what the results will be, I'm otherwise healthy besides drinking too much.
>>76889822What does your gut tell you?
>>76884979anon I believe in you and you'll make it through this
