muscle-up 3x3
nordic hold 3x15sec
bench 3x4 275 1x3 295 1x1 315
pull–ups 3x9
leg extension 4x30 sec
multl-hip 3x8 13

Good day today, a little light on the ssb and bench volume. SSB was fast and felt really good. Fastest its been by far. No real knee pain. I did stop before I thought I was going to fuck with it again because my progress has been really good. On warm-ups I did 2 and 4 full nordic curls with basically no glute pain. On the road to 10 nordic curls now. Muscle-ups I did not plan on but the chin-ups were really violent today and I stopped the set early to go try some muscle-ups. The first two sets were shakey, then I got the form down and we rolling now. Also, my pull-ups are higher now.

I have been training for hypertrophy but i would like to get into power lifting and strength training
Are those terms synonomous?
Is the main thing for increasing strength going to be immeadietly upping weight once i get past a targeted rep range?

Vascular Rowing Constriction Syndrome (VRCS) is a rare, entirely hypothetical disorder in which improper barbell rowing technique causes temporary narrowing of the upper-arm blood vessels. During intense rowing movements, the surrounding musculature may contract in an abnormal pattern, momentarily restricting blood flow to the arms.

In severe fictional cases, individuals may experience sudden numbness in the shoulders and a dramatic, though completely temporary, reduction in upper-arm circumference—sometimes described in exaggerated reports as up to 20 centimeters. Symptoms are said to resolve shortly after the exercise is stopped, once normal circulation is restor

I realized I should clarify since this place is full of Meatheads (the meat is fat). Decline pushups are the same movement as decline bench.
>But I pushup more weight in decline pushups which is harder!
Well, yes to the first. No to the second. Anyone who's done decline bench knows they can lift more weight because the movement is different. In fact it's widely agreed upon that decline bench is easier hence the higher weight. Same with decline pushups. You would fail at two ordinary diamond pushups.

Weight/energy was not there so I left after one rep. I was reading a comment yesterday on another guys form check post about setting your hips higher sumo pulling, so I tried that today. I have thought they were high enough, but wanted to play around with it. Felt plausible so I will try it more the next week and block.

>>76895298
I started with stronglifts its good. Teaches you what applied progressive overload feels like for a good amount of movement patterns. Also, it works for every lift, and is almost the default of what I do when I start training a new lift, especially if I don't really care about it.

The worst part about lifting is many people don't have the personality traits to be successful following stupid simple pre-written programs like stronglifts on their own. They need an in-person coach and group of people to lift with or they will essentially get no where at all for years. A lot of peoples mental model of exercise seems to be just a bunch of random TikTok and Instagram clips. Can't apply any information on their own.

What lifting shoes do I buy?

Currently looking at:
>Adidas Powerlifting because they're plentiful
>Notorious Sumo Sole some people love, some say are trash quality
>Bearfoot Ursus because Squat University recommended them although they're flat so probably not ideal for squatting?

Tyr L2 if you need a heel to squat/pish press and Bearfoot Ursus for everything else

I only have one pair of cheap heels and a pair of overly expensive german barefoot shoes. I prefer cheap barefoot shoes (almost any brand, they are not hard to make). The Ursus look good to me.

I love watching strength and conditioning training videos. The powerlifting/powerbuilding training don't hit as well most of the time, but sometimes they do. I also like really ghetto weightlifting training videos.

Do weightlifting shoes have any impact on improving results like a belt does, or is it just more to help with your form if you can't keep your heels on the ground? I'm used to squatting barefoot/in my socks up until now.
>>
>>76901952
when I switched from Adidas powerlifts to Tyr L2 I gained a lot of stability from the floor which was mostly helpful in getting log more consistent. If you have limited ankle mobility then heels will help a lot with making squat depth more comfortably. If you can squat barefoot already then it would just shift load to quads more basically.

Really good day today despite fucking around. I dropped some sets off of most stuff, but everything felt great. I think my cardio leveled up again, and the last bit of the glute tendonitis is almost gone. I was able to do 3 and 2 full nordics with next to no pain, so I am going to try an amrap on Friday. Squatting should go really well tomorrow. Only hangup today was I felt both achillies cramping on the bss pause and I don't know if it was from the nordics or low squat jumps I was doing on Sat. I have gotten toe/achillies cramping before doing nordic curls, but the low squat jumps really a lot of pressure on your achillies. Going to keep looking into it.

>>76904000
It might put some more pressure on your knees over time maybe if you have knee issues. My knee issue was only at a very specific angle and I could still squat in heels with it for the most part, but I went back to flats just in case. I am a highbar squatter. Started in vivobarefoot shoes, went to heels, now I am back in barefoot shoes.

What I found out was it was mostly a mobility/hip flexor/low ab compression strength issue. Once I started doing seated straight leg raises, I could squat highbar barefoot and it feels exactly the same as in heels. I don't think its a ankle issue for most people anymore.
>>
>>76904000

THREADLY, RELEVANT, and HIGH QUALITY REMINDER for you unlifting ANON CHODEs to post body/lifts and get a trip. Tripping is the only way anyone will believe anything you have to say about anything. And only if you demonstrate at least one of the following:
>A squat in excess of both 2.5 times bodyweight AND 500 lbs
>A deadlift in excess of both 2.5 time bodyweight AND 500 lbs
>A bench press in excess of both 1.5 times bodyweight AND 350 lbs
>A LMAO4PLAET or greater row from the ground
>A Log "Press" of at least 240 lbs and 1.15 times bodyweight
>A front squat equal to or greater than LMAO4PLAET and 1.75x bodyweight
>A body that /fit/ won't roundly criticize (good fucking luck)

Okay, gotcha, thanks. I'll see if I can borrow some weightlifting shoes with a heel and see how they feel for me. I don't think I have any big ankle mobility issues, main reason I was wondering about the shoes is since I plan to compete in the future and you're required to wear shoes there. I might just wear the deadlifting slippers or something though when squatting, I'll figure it out in due time. When I squat I pay attention to warming up my knees properly, first with low-weight high rep leg extensions, then some sissy squats and normal bodyweight squats to finish. That combination and lowbar allow me to squat 3 plates and more with no pain, when highbar on really bad days has given me knee pain during my warmups.
>>76904694
I see, thank you. I don't really do oly lifts in my routine, so I'm guessing strictly for powerlifting they're not an immediate boost?

I was told this was the best thread to ask for advice on my squatting form
I don't plan to get serious with this im still a gym noob thats still cutting, but I really need some advice
am 5'10, the high bar squat made me lean forward a lot and I can't help it, but the low bar feels like im more upright, is my form ok with the low bar? I'd like to stick with that from here on out

also im squatting less weight with the low bar here compared to high, so thats why it looks easier for me, I just want to work on my form before continuing progressive overloads,

FIGGY can ignore skin color, but can never ignore LIMEY colloquialisms, bongistanian!

The low bar looks as fundamentally sound as a perfectly side view can really show. A 3/4 view would let us see stance width and toe angle and such. Ideally you'd go just a little bit deeper, but your pants might be beginning to constrict you at the bottom. Squats are best done in shorts. Keep on keeping your knees back as you descend like you appear to be doing, and keep your torso as inflated and braced as possible as weight gets heavier. Sneakers are the worst possible option for squats, barefoot or some kind of "deadlift" shoe is better (and fine for FILTHY CASUAL strength training), even cheapo squat shoes would be the most best option and might help you get a little bit lower at the bottom while keeping your back extended.

There's nothing here that would constitute a real red flag, just that small stuff to keep in mind as you keep squatting.
>>
>>76909183

squat 2x1 475

nordic curl amrap 7
leg extension 4x8 10
bench 315 1x8

Yesterday basically sucked. I woke up really groggy and had really shitty training and an overall weird day. I just did like 3 reps of 405 squats and some swings on the dip bars and dipped. Just jumping over the bench to warm up felt strange for minutes. I think it was too much l-theanine before bed. I have since pulled it from my PM supplements and did not take any yesterday evening. Today was much better. I wanted a good training session so I drank a C4 during training. I don't normally have caffeine until after I have my morning training session (so I can tell if my sleep is good). When I want to have a better training session, I drink pre + some choline and will be good to go. If its a meet, throw in some painkillers too.

Nordics I did today, so I don't have an excuse Sat for deadlifting. Glute did not act up until the halfway through the 8th rep, hence I got 7. No knee pain today either. The glute tendonitis seems to be on its last legs. I am mentally focusing on getting the knee back to 100%. Last week I was not able to do five broad jumps in a row on concrete without my knee hurting, but I can do them on grass.

I benched twice because I tried out another bench 20-25 minutes after benching the first time for fun. I was just fucking around realistically.

Enough of my blog for today. I hope you all have great training sessions.

Nothing notable going on until Saturday, This block is about done, just chilling mostly continuing working on the knee and glute. Yesterday evening I was able to do some broad jumps on concrete without my knee hurting, but felt they could have had a little more power to them. Double unders are getting better too. Been watching some crossfit videos, and I didn't realize you have to whip the rope. You really want to do some cardio so you can train harder. Its so much more fun.

Good day today. The front pulls are money, 100% worth adding into most programs some of the time. Sumo went well, just fucked around. I had no pain pulling the 495 finally. First or second pain free pull of the year. Need to start adding some more sets and reps. Strength is fine, I don't think I lost too much, just my body was limiting my force output because of the glute tendonitis. Don't get glute tendonitis. Deload week is scheduled, but I will probably push it to next week because of the holidays. Normally I do 4 weeks on 1 off/zone 2/light stretching only.

Today was harder than I thought despite it only supposed to be overcoming isos this week. Watch said 720 kcal (without biking, doing that tomorrow).

Only thing to report is the overcoming bench isometric is money and should be in more programs. Really easy to do and does not take that much time. Basically a spoto press into the pins as hard as you can for 5 seconds. You have to set up further back on the bench, my head was completely off the bench. The pins need to be parallel to where you touch basically. It feels really good though. The five seconds gives you a decent amount of time to explore the movement while pressing as hard as you can into the pins. I am going to do some longer sets later in the week. Probably my favorite new (to me) movement I have done lately.

The hip flexor hold and nordics were yielding isos going to try modifying them to make them overcoming later in the week as well. I got 2 donuts, a bagel, and 591ml coke for post workout.

Sumo is going well, I actually felt my glute more doing the squat iso, so I will be changing the sumo iso in the future to add more squats. The standing lat raise and ohp were okay, but not as satisfying as the bench. I am going to try them seated again later this week.

Shifting back to a bit more junk. Weight is dropping easier because my cardio is better, and I can train way harder now. I think the jump roping affected my appetite and how thirsty I get faster than the bike. I definitely don't need as much liquids now. I am starting to understand the wider range of experiences people report when starting training a little better.

/fit/ is a dead board and it turns out when Blobby isn’t posting 50x per day in this thread there’s not a lot to discuss.

There were times when I rested about ten minutes in between my five sets of five on volume day, and managed to survive the workout. I vividly remember using my routine self-talk and imagery methods to jack up my adrenaline before the fifth set of five at 455 pounds. My pulse was racing as I hitched my belt into the second hole. I no longer could hear the music droning in the gym, and I no longer had peripheral vision; it’s as if my focus blocks out the irrelevant sensory details. I approached the chalk stand while taking short breaths. I could feel my pulse; it pounded through my chest and my mind. I rubbed my hands in the chalk – it helped increase the friction of my grip on the bar – and then rubbed them together. I specifically remember the chalk softly floating up to the sunlight that was shining diagonally across my vision. There was something poetic at how it floated, so softly, through the sunlight as my jaw clenched uncontrollably. It was like the peaceful eye before the hurricane hits. I slammed myself under the bar, walked the weight out, and ground through five reps with a weight I had already done for 20 reps. Summoning maximal adrenaline five times in an hour left me feeling exhausted, and I fell into a chair to catch my breath. I had survived volume day again.

I kind of do it, even though I'd like to cut my rest time. I don't really track them, and just use a song I'm listening to as rest time. Which is usually around 4 mins. But then I still have to convince myself to get under the weight, my mental game is weak as I'm an anxious person in general, so before I start squatting again 5 minutes have definitely passed, sometimes less, sometimes more towards the end. Worth it? Honestly not. I feel I lose too much time and could spend time better doing more accessories. Maybe one day I'll do a deload with the sole purpose of tracking rest time and building back up to the same weight but under some time constraint.

bench iso 4x5sec 1x30sec
single leg extension 5x30sec 2x5 80
maltese press iso 5x5sec
nordic hold 4x20sec
chin-up hold 2x30sec

Today was good. Fucked up the bench, it was supposed to be some longer sets but it still felt good. Friday might do incline instead of flat, but definitely longer sets. I think the isometrics are doing something, and worth putting programming. My kcal today was 670 in 66min, which is not bad for not doing any isotonic lifting. Almost cooked myself on the chin-up holds, but cardio has been getting better so I was able to hold out. I still had to cut a set though.

Yes especially near top sets. Not much anymore since I am working through some injuries. Also, my cardio is much better now so I am usually good to go around 3-4. I don't like resting much more than 5 minutes though without a specific reason.

How long you rest between sets and how long the workout is supposed to take is also something you need to track and keep an eye on. If you were supposed to rest 3 minutes per set, but you needed 4:30, thats still an issue to look at even if you had no problem getting all the reps.

squat iso 3x5sec 2x30sec
pull-up hold test 2x3sec
back extension hold 2x30sec
front raise hold 4x15sec
hip flexor iso 4x25sec

Today was pretty good. Weight is going up. The squat iso was not as good as the bss, bench, or deadlift isos, but I am trying it again tomorrow. The last set I think I was breaking new ground, will report more tomorrow. I want to get it to work. The back extensions off the bench cooked me for a few minutes, but my cardio is getting better now so my heart rate is a little lower when I am cooked. About 110 instead of 135 this time, much more manageable. Afternoon training was good too, a little light. I did cook a little bit again doing some l-sit work.

The new goblin gear wraps came in today. It uses an anchoring mechanism to get a very tight wrap, this is definitely an upgrade from my old goblin gear wraps
