Will I be able to live normally and lift again eventually or am I just fucked now? I’m in my twenties still and one of the only things I’ve wanted to accomplish in this shitty life was at least escape dyel status. I injured my back in early November. Pain was mostly localized to the lower back, tail bone, and my foot (if sitting in a certain position). The foot pain disappeared after a week or two, but I still get persistent back pain a bit over a month later, particularly if my spine has been “loaded” by going to work and standing/sitting around all day. I’ve only been to the gym twice for some upper body workouts but have been doing stretches a few times a week. Went to a doc 2 weeks in and he asked me about foot symptoms and had me lay down and lift my legs up to see if there was leg pain, which there wasn’t aside from tension in the tailbone. He said I’d be fine and to just use heat and rest for a while but my condition has barely improved.
>minor back injury in your twenties>doctor says it's fine>still make this threadyou'll be physically fine, but unfortunately you'll be a retard for life.a thread died for this
>>76912174It’s been a month and I still can’t work out though
Do mobility exercises and remember that the healing process takes time and effort. I had a debilitating back injury training for football and wrestling in junior year of HS, pretty sure I had a lumbar herniation. Had no insurance so had to figure out how to fix it myself. The main thing you should focus on first is getting to the point you are moving pain free. Do exercises that very gently challenge the core muscles often, but avoid movements that are sharply painful and don’t involve weights until you can comfortably sit up, squat, jog, hop, turn at the torso (in both directions), etc. Mobility drills are also a must, being injured your body will naturally avoid using the injured area which will affect how it moves. You don’t want to lose that. So it’s okay to do some stretching and mobilizing. Again, do not keep doing something if it is a sharp pain. Only mild dull slight pains are okay. Make sure diet and rest are good too. Okay champ, that’s all I got, you’ll get better just take it easy.
>>76912313Thanks. How long did you take to heal up?
Your issue is very common, i face it from time to time too. (Im assuming the pain leans more to one side)There is a quickish fix for it: deadhang on a pullup bar and rotate your hips, left up right down then vice versa. This helps to reduce the tension in your spine. Hold and repeat as long as possible. Make sure to gently put yourself down, not just drop from the bar
>>76912313>High school>Had no insurance Minors get health insurance free in this country
>>76912401Yeah we do in the US but my retarded father lied to mom that he paid the insurance bill so when I went to get checked out they ran my insurance and it was fucking denied.
>>76912322I got injured as a Junior and wasn't really fully healed back up until Freshman year of uni, so about 2 years. I was able to start weight training after 6 months or so though.
>>76912410Ah, okay. I don’t believe I have a hernia so hopefully it doesn’t take me that long
>fell for the deadlift meme
>>76913296Post body
>>76911830as far as i'm aware the worst part about a back injury is the stress & fear that lingers of you getting another one
>>76912335OK thank you, I will incorporate this too.
It is what it is. I snapped my back last week just lift around the pain if that's the way it's going to be for the rest of my life so be it the only thing doctors can do is prescribe poison to mask the pain and make their master shekels.
>>76913776nta but this is the weirdest post bodyhave you seen the dyels who specialize in deadlift only kek
>>76913796My niggaThis is what a strong (unbreakable) mentality looks like.
>>76912271I went to snap city at 18because of a work accident. I was able to ditch my cane 18 months later, but didn't get all the feeling back in my leg until I was 40. Learn to cope and move. I started karate less than a year after the accident, and took up kettlebells and basic barbell work, meaning deadlifts, rows, and ohp 6 months after that. I earned my black belt, 2nd degree black, 3rd degree black and master instructor cert before I was 100%. How bad do you want it?
>>76911830I pulled a muscle in my lower back and then the same area again several years later... no spinal issues though. The pain just went away at a logarithmic rate with faint reminders of the injury lingering for years.
>>76913835> I’ve only been to the gym twice for some upper body workouts but have been doing stretches a few times a week. Also for a while after injuring it even bench press was painful to do with standard arched back form, OHP would have been out of the question.
>>76913844>doing stretches a few times a weekAlso I don't think this even does anything. Rippetoe likened it cutting yourself and then tearing pulling apart the wound to help it heal. He has a rehab protocol. I never tried any rehab I just stopped working out for a while which almost certainly delayed my recovery.
>>76913854Depends on your injury, if it restricts movement mechanically you’re gonna watch to move or you’re gonna have a ton of scar tissue to work through.
