Zercher squat is my best variation, I can hit 440 for two singles.

I just like them, they're fun and not as crushing as a back squat.

I don't give a shit about people who try to rationalize them with 'muh functional strength', it's just a unique and effective variation.

Because unless you are retarded you don't just put 300kg on the bar if you know you can't handle the weight. SO if put on 150kg and I know I can handle it I feel decent about it even though even that still would be enough weight to get me in trouble if things do go wrong. Although I see olympic lifters do that shit from stands with no safeties and 250-300kg and it DOES make me feel squeamish even if for them the weight probably seems the same as 150k does for me.

It's the only squat variation I can do at full range without the spinal load causing issues for my lower back.
Because of my body proportions it's the only squat I can do while staying upright.

440 lbs for 2 singles is nice. Zercher squats are uncomfortable to do so people don't do them or shit on them. Nothing feels better than doing a 400 lb+ zercher then slamming the bar into the rack onto the j-cups.

But in truth, it's the best core activation squat variation. You do zerchers, your normal squats will immediately get better simply because of it. After heavy zerchers, normal barbell back squats feel like vacation.

this movement is good for exactly one thing and it's moving the bar around on the squat rack without removing too many weights cause you're lazy (sometimes i still end up bruising my biceps doing this if im not careful, fuck ass movement)

Vastly different core, lower back, and hip activation compared to a front squat or back squat, driving different adaptations. A strong front squatter will have strong quads, but a strong zercher squatter will have a powerful posterior chain and core in addition to strong legs.
