I don't even squat, I do reverse lunges cause I'm home gym and don't have the equipment to squat. I'm almost certain I could lunge 225 and I start my warmups with 110 currently. My legs aren't even that big, and I'm a manlet with short legs. Squatting 1 p8 is "why bother" weight and squatting 2 pl8 won't come anywhere close to making your legs "too big" unless you're absolutely spamming high reps.

heavier isn’t really worth it. big legs aren’t aesthetic and you can injure yourself way worse than you can doing most things upper body

Smith, and Wesson, and me. Seriously though examples aren't required. Some bodybuilders never deadlift. I only do it for strength, not for looks. (Strength as in having a strong back/core to do things, not to lift 500lb.)

I unironically stopped going really heavy on squats, I got upto 4pl8 for a 1rm but my knees felt a bit fucked all the time, under 30 too. I now only do 2pl8 but do very high reps, like sets of 20
