Judo VS BJJ
>>
>>76933938
On what set of rules? When I tried judo they kept stopping me because I went to the legs automatically since they have no base for it because grabbing legs is against the rules. I kept beating highly graduated guys who were around my weight or bigger with basic stuff. When we went to the ground, it was pretty much over. Sure, I didn't get to fight a vicious black belt with no jiu-jitsu experience at least since most of them do both around here, but I think that a strong and technical pure judo black belt would probably defeat me on grappling. I'm just a three stripes blue belt though so that's not saying much.
>>
>>76933938
I have a couple of webms for this on my PC, I'll post later
But they're two different sports within the same martial art
I've trained both and I like both
Judo is more combative, it actually feels like fighting
BJJ can feel much more like a game, it's more "fun" insofar as you aren't getting beat up rolling the same way you are doing randori
Judo's rules are weird and you probably won't get taught a double leg, but a BJJ gym without a dedicated wrestling class probably won't either lul
Just pick the one with the closest gym and best training partners, or ideally crosstrain in both
>>
>>76933938
BJJ players suck at stand up

Short of a shodan, a lot of judo guys will flop to the floor on their bellies if they don't get a perfect throw

Judo spends a lot of energy remembering names of moves and learning how to bow to losers who need institutional respect

They're both fun. I prefer BJJ because the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed. If I found a place that broke tradition, deviated from the IJF, and practiced only the sport of judo I would have the most fun with it.
>>
>>76934001
Doing judo once a week or month would be useful long term for bjj standup?
>>
>>76934010
I think a semester of judo would be more useful. If you don't immerse yourself in it you'd kind of learn something, forget it, kind of learn something, forget it ad naseum and never integrate it. If you went and did a few months to a year of judo you'd find a technique or two that you can rely on. Then you can take it with you as you continue doing BJJ

>Judo
the assumption that no one would ever try to pick your legs in a real fight
>BJJ
the assumptions that no one would ever kick or stomp your head in a real fight after you achieve the superior position of sitting or laying on the ground for them
>>
>>76933938
Teddy was such a fraud, good thing he retired.
>>
>>76933938
the judoka will get the takedown (maybe, if the bjj guy is not decent at shooting)
the bjj guy will get the sub or the sweep/wrestle up to GNP
don't get me wrong, BJJ is a mid combat sport, but it's better than judo
>>
>>76933938
The answer is wrestling. It builds the strongest body and its useful in any fighting situation.
>>
The bjj place i go to also hosts sambo
Would it be worth also going to those classes?
Just started bjj this year
>>
>>76934200
>ameridote
the assumption that you have you have your firearm on you at all times
>>
>>76934228
>judo guy pins you with 1000 tons and fucks your bussy
Try getting that sub now bitch.
>>
>>76934957
Yes 100%
Sport Sambo is judo but better, with none of the autism
>>
>>76934228
BJJ was founded by Gracie and got kwabd by Kimura (Judoka) under BJJ's own rules
Decades later, Gracie grandchild who is the MMA champ (BJJ fag) fought the Judoka Olympian under BJJ rules and also lost like a little bitch, just like his grandfather.
>>
>>76935234
bjj was founded by carlos gracie as a child blue belt.
He formed his own school ranked himself to BLACK(ed)
and rhen taught helio who got promoted to black also
bjj as it is now is it's own art but if you wanna be a pure judoka take both as bjj is just the ne waza of judo
other than that choosing which one is better comes down to what you like out of a school
if you dont care about two way street respect do bjj because it's a massive mixed bag and black belts wont spare you simply because they thinj you arent worthy.
You wont see shit like that in judo.
Talk shit to someone in the street because they spoke rudely to you?
in bjj they'll just tell you that's how life is if that person karens and calls your school
in judo you might get kicked out or asked ti take a break because you're expected to uphold a moral code
>>
>>76935244
spar* not spare
>>
>>76935244
So judo is for men and BJJ is for faggits
>>
>>76935244
choosing which is better all depends on you as a person and what you want out of martial arts
you'll get serious leg injuries in both.
Ive seen people get their ACLs torn on their few weeks of judo and have heard stories of slipped discs in bjj
>>
>>76935252
firsr few weeks*
>>
>>76935251
Judoka dont go around showing off that they do judo usually. Unless they just got out if class, then you might see them in Gi pants or wearing merch from their school whereas bjj fighters will literally go grocery shopping in their schools rash guard when they have class tomorrow
>>
>>76935259
i also met a guy online once that said he wasnt allowed to wear gi pants until he made blue belt so do with that what you will
>>
>>76933979
I also keep getting stopped when I throw flying knees into the faces of my sparring partners in the boxing class.
>>
>>76933979
Kodokan rules permit leg grabs but you have to throw, if kodokan brought back leg grabs they may make a come back in the US since US follows IJF ruleset
>>
>>76935274
>inb4 that's ijf though
and who do you thinj ijf bases their stuff off of?
>>
>>76935244
there are as many competitiin judo schools as bjj.
Ive seen people at tournaments that have multiple gold medals and multiole wins ok smoothcomp stay at white belt because they go tona competitive school
>>
I've never seen a Judo school commit such faggotry like fabricate a video about how a robber wanted to steal all of the cold hard cash that passes through the BJJ school's cash register every day, only to end up getting defeated by very brave and skilled black belts

>>76935293
>is that.... adults doing jumping jacks...??? AAAAIIIIIEEEE MY BULLETS WON'T WORK AGAINST THEM
>>
>>76933938
no gi bjj
judo stopped being relevant once t shirts got invented
>>
judo genuinely makes you worse prepared for a real fight than if you had sat in your room watching ufc for 2 hours every day.

judo ONLY consists of walking forwards straight up and trying to grab the other guys collar or sleeves like a faggot. and then if it gets to the ground immediately stalling and going to all fours prone. it should be banned because of how dangerous it is, not because you can hurt other people with it but because using judo will get you killed in a street fight.
>>
all this pointless martial arts sperging while you can just do mma.
if you do jiujitsu or boxing or whatever "because it's the most effective in the streets", deep down you know you are a little bitch

>>76935117
judo pins are mediocre while jiujitsu escapes are their forte
>>76935234
boomer history doesn-t matter. take a modern judo athlete and a modern jiujitsu athlete and it won't even be close
>>
>>76936049
>1951
>Helio Gracie cries like a little bitch when he gets annihilated by a Judoka
>boomer history doesn-t matter. take a modern judo athlete and a modern jiujitsu athlete and it won't even be close
That's what Royce Gracie said in 2002 before crying like a bitch at his defeat from a Judoka. Give some time for the young Gracie children to age. I look forward to another generation of Gracie crybaby bitches getting owned by Judokas.

If you want to be prepared for a real fight, then carry a gun. If it's illegal in your country, carry a small knife, to "open packages", of course. Humans are meant to fight with weapons, not their hands.
>>
>>76936541
And then the grappler has a knife too but more skills as well
>>
>>76937343
weapons are only an amplifier. You can be a dog shit grappler and become deadly with a knife or sword
>>
>>76937352
if anything to person who sucks at grappling is gonna be more deadly with a knife because they're gonna be relying more on it
>>
>>76937352
>>76937401
Yeah I know you think you're going to be better than a pro fighter because you play blade of ashihama on ps5 or whatever, but you're gonna get your knee kicked in and then your arm broken whilst you fumble for your katana
>>
>BJJ
More like BlowJob Jitsu lmao
>>
>>76936541
Dumbest fucking post of all time on this website, congratulations.
>>
>>76933938
Judo literally contains the entirety of BJJ, just employed differently, plus stand up grappling. The only other grappling styles even close is greco-roman or american freestyle, because it has areas of dominance in both standing & ground game.
>>
Judo VS Greco?
>>
>>76937742
I support learning to fight unarmed but he is right kinda. In fit/gym culture there is this idea that just going at all consistently, even if only for a day or two
>>
>>76937796
wrestling beats bjj and judo
too bad it's nit as popular as it was before TMA became popular
>>
Depends on the dojo and teacher. In our dojo it's split in 2: one side is for kids who compete and are taught throws within the current rules of judo, one side is for the old guys who are taught everything, even the banned techniques, even the bjj stuff. Judo is part of traditional japanese jujitsu, which has strikes, throws, grappling and groundwork.
>>
>US
BJJ. America's Judo is laughable unless you train at top competitive schools.
>Anywhere else
Judo and it's not even close.
>leg grabs
Literally not a problem
>t. Judoka that trains BJJ for fun

Here's a realistic scenario of what happens in my BJJ gym.
>we start standing
I throw them 9/10 times and they get the wind knocked out of them
>ground (if I choose to engage)
If low belt level I pin them maybe submit. If higher level they choke me out or make me tap. Or I literally just stand up and repeat point 1 if they stand up too.
>>
>>76939480
>leg grabs
Literally not a problem

What
>>
>>76939562
Leg grabs are forbidden in competitions, but are still taught in the basic techniques and kata.
>>
>>76939562
The first lines of defense against leg grabs are your hands, distance, and movement, which is the same principle in defending against throws in Judo. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking sprawls as the answer to leg grabs when in reality it should be the last resort.

When I first cross trained into BJJ, people were giving themselves to my throws trying to chase single legs. Now obviously you will get caught every now and then if the setup is good, but that applies to every other takedown technique, whether throws or footsweeps.

If there are clothes to grab (gi or shirt) then leg grabs are even easier to stuff. They're more emphasized in rulesets that forbid clothes/gripping, and even then the same principles apply, just with wrestling grips instead of gi/cloth grips.

Back, webms

Once a week, maybe
When I trained judo I trained once a week (this was decades ago now)
And I was never very good at it but I could throw newbies and drunk friends
I would generally say twice a week for definite improvement, but if you're able to work your standup in BJJ rolls then that would be enough
I went back to judo late last year (had to move away a couple of months later so didn't stick with it) and found that a lot of the training time wasn't necessarily what I thought would be useful - we didn't do as much randori as I would have liked, so if you're able to turn some of your BJJ rolling sessions into randori then I'd say do 1 actual judo session a week and then use your rolls to practice

this is actually a good thing. it prevents your sport from becoming vulgarized by bozos like eddie bravo and other stoner freaks like joe rogan.

>and now i show you the transition from crackhead control to retard control
