I think the barbell bench press is a pretty bad exercise for chest. After years of lifting and many form variations, I can't seem to get mind muscle connection with my pecs. I always feel it most in my shoulders.

I think that dumbbell bench press and cable crossovers are vastly superior because I can get a full stretch on my pecs and achieve a larger ROM.

Seconded. Benched for years. Barbell benched 245 for 5s, incline 185 for 10s, db chest flye 60's for 12, all kinds of traditional chest work.

Then I found this particular cable press machine, nothing special about it, but the path of resistance and the range of motion were absolutely peak. Deep stretch, full crunch. I maxed out the machine for 20's, so couldn't even do proper ~12rm sets, but regardless, my chest blew up more in the next few weeks than anything I had ever done before.

Couldn't find a stupid questions thread so I'll post here.
I'm a dyel and never feel my chest or pecs working when I bench or do any other chest exercise, no matter how I position myself or tuck my elbows in. At most, I feel it in back, shoulder blades or arms, why?

Try elbows and wrists rotated inwards more, and try arched/flatback. Super strict vs heavy, etc. For me it's a stiff arm pec shrug kinda deal to get the mmc right. Reverse bench is sick too.

Underhand/neutral push through, it'll be tricep fominant but that rom is where the pec major is loaded the most for like a cut chest.

If you only do dips and arched bench but I'd wanna do that enough to keep the entire strength of chest up. No harm in adding a not so lagging bodypart to the end of a workout.

you're probably referring to the feeling of squeezing the muscle, most chest exercises don't have you fully contracting the pecs they go from stretched to neutral it's like trying to squeeze your biceps with your arm extended you can flex it and it's not weak but you can't feel the squeeze
cable cross overs are probably the best exercise for squeezing the pecs in theory I find that simply pushing the dbs together after flyes can squeeze them until they cramp up I can't speak for the effect this has on gains it does feel good

You probably hit more delts on bench, try some prison reps and just contract pecs mostly. Take the weight up then drop it until pec failure. Now I can jump into a topserlt with barely any warmup and hit pecs.
