Can you lift more than Monk?
>>
Yeah, I'm the strongest guy in my gym. It's a gift... and a curse.
>>
>>76938546
hehe
>>
>>76938619
I watched the fuck out of this 10–15 years ago, it's surprisingly good
>>
probably not. i only can do 65kg for 11 reps on the chest press machine
>>
>>76938669
that's because the writers lifted the Columbo element of whodunnit. instead of a functional man it's a mentally ill one. kino ensues.
mandatory Sharona > Nat

I thought they did sharona dirty and that i would hate Natalie but she grew on me. think I like her better actually

>I can bench 200
No you can't.
>>
>>76938470
Monk is definitely the kind of guy that uses metric plates.
>>
>>76938470
holy shit
>>
Yes, I can bench 201 cubic feet of air.

I couldn’t watch it because the way he was treated seemed so unrealistic. They depended on people behaving in a non sensical way to drive the plot which is weak writing

>extreme outlier in attention to detail and ability to reason
>at the cost of being socially anxiety, phobias, etc
>has a history of solving cases the department had no chance of solving without him
>makes the department look good, repeatedly stops department from arrested the wrong guy on a hunch without doing any police work
>gets 0 credit, won’t give him a job or even pay him enough to afford to live / pay his handler
>chief inexplicably hates his guts and is a huge asshole every episode despite all this

>no leads or ideas
>sees monk
>oh fuck this piece of shit
>get lost monk you are welcome here
>monk looking past him piecing something together nobody else saw
>”the killer was around 6’2”
>”just because you’ve gotten lucky the last 100 times doesn’t mean you could know that. Fuck off I time have time for your shit. I will not listen to an explanation you simply couldn’t know that. Fuck off
>explains how it knows it
>”oh”
Episode ends
>”sorry monk, you really saved us out there that was good work
Next episode sees monk coming
>get the fuck out of here monk…
That was such annoying dynamic. It made no sense

Did you ever watch it? The chief was his friend
>>
>>76943315
I watched maybe two seasons. I don’t remember them establishing the two were friends but they did have a long history working together and there were a couple scenes of the chief talking highly about monk to some rookie. Regardless, the chief was hostile to him constantly. Kept getting annoyed we he showed up to a crime scene, kept telling him to leave, kept being dismissive of monk’s claims without giving him a chance to explain then, once again, looking like an idiot when monk had a solid reasoning, kept getting annoyed when monk told him they had the wrong conclusion and the case isn’t over, etc. It made no sense. Monk has severe social issues so you can’t argue it was banter or something. Obviously monk wouldn’t have understood that. He had some rain man making him look good and instead of being as accommodating as possible, he would interfere with monk.

Second, a minor theme was monk was broke, struggled to pay the social worker, couldn’t pay for therapy, I think at least once he almost got evicted. But how can you accept the police department couldn’t pay him a livable wage for his work? The statement he can’t work for them without a gun, no acceptions what so ever, was already weak but even under the case, it doesn’t mean they can only pay him a $10 arby’s gift card as a consultant. His work is extremely valuable to the police (and by extension the city of SF, if I remember that city right) they couldn’t pay him good money as a regular contracted employee? Wasn’t at least some of the trauma he had related to previous work on the force? Paying for his social worker and therapy would be the least they could do. And that’s not even goodness of their heart type shit, it’s best for them that their golden goose is mentally stable.

who is the "monk" guy? he looks like scarpacci.
>>
>>76943428
Their relationship improves as the show goes on
>>76938470
Psych is excellent too
>>
>>76938470
Monk would never step in a dirty gym and I don't remember him having a home one. Hack writing.
>>
>>76944056
In the 80s every dad had a bench in the basement or garage. He still doesn't seem the type to ever lift a weight.
>>
>>76938470
200 what? Grams?
>>
this show any good? i like the way that actor looks
>>
>>76944102
It's peak early 2000s. If you're a zoomer, you won't like it.
>>
>>76944102
Its peak comfy
>>76944112
This is correct too
>>
>>76940317
200 is a beginner bench anyway. Any man over 160lbs should be easily pushing out 225. My max was 285 and unfortunately that's where I capped before moving and not benching for years. I do a lot of weighted dips though (cope)
>>

>before moving and not benching for years.
Lmao so your gay ass is back to a 200lbs bench then it sounds like

I did go to the local small town geriatric gym with a buddy on my lunch break within this last year, and I still had 225x5 in the tank. Moving out of the city really fucked me up though. This town only has 1 gym, open monday through friday, 8am to 5pm. No access after hours. What a pointless fucking gym. There are some people at my work that have home gyms they use as a group a few times a week, but I don't think I'd enjoy lifting in someone's garage with a bunch of other people around, so I'm working on just building my own home gym once I have a garage on this property.

Just do it now, I have my power rack in my living room, it's the first thing you see when you open the door to my place. It drives my wife's family insane but wifey likes me ripped and doesn't care
>>
>>76944102
It's annoyingly one-note, repetitive and Monk gets stale as a character very quickly. The chief and Randy are far more endearing characters
>>
>>76943315
first few episodes chief buffalo bill was a more antagonistic, they dropped that later on. it became a relationship where a guy in a high stress job's friend went crazy but still has moments of being his old self.
>>
>>76944102
it isn't bingable, it worked because you'd watch it once a week. If you don't enjoy cringe comedy with a guy who has all sorts of problems, you wont like it.
