>Purposefully controlling the eccentric movement while lifting is just a safer version of ego lifting.
Change my mind.

Well I’m glad everyone agrees with me

>ego lifting
No such thing. You either can lift the weight or cannot
>>
If you don’t control the movement all the way through you’re doing half reps

brother can you draw what you wrote? by your statement what is not considered an ego lift?
giving internet to thirdies was a mistake.

The benefit of a controlled eccentric lies in the fact that you're providing more time under tension than your muscles can naturally sustain through lifting normally with a 1:1 concentric to eccentric duration. Basically, you're not strong enough to lift a weight for 4x20, but you're strong enough to lift a weight for 4x10, so you double the eccentric duration which would give you something more similar to a 4x15. You're basically doing something that you're not normally capable of doing, and that's why it's just a safer version of an ego lift. You're merely sacrificing the speed of the lift instead of sacrificing form to milk 5 more reps out of each set. Sacrificing form is just more dangerous than sacrificing speed.

Yes, I would get a big ego if I never got myself injured in the gym

Tore the shit out of my sopinal erector on Friday while squatting. Felt it tear like paper on the elft side. Going down very slowly and under control. First rep of second set of five with 330. first set of 5 felt great. No problem. First rep of second set - riiiiip. Slow tear. Dropped bar onto safeties.

What the fuck is "ego lifting." Somehow it doesn't mean "lifting purely for vanity" but has come to mean "lifting heavy weights" BY guys who only lift for vanity. Literal projection. Retarded phrase.

No. See pic related. Guy is an absolute asshole, shouldn't have done it, shouldn't filmed it, and he's probably dead now after taking a trip to snap city.

This is so dumb. Controlling the weight doesn’t mean a 5 second negative. Go for 2 seconds if you want, just don’t divebomb your negatives. Yes your muscles can handle more weight on the eccentric, but they can’t handle warped leverages from you constantly misgrooving because your bar path is inconsistent as fuck. These massive dudes are so good at the movements they specialize in that they barely ever misgroove, you are nothing like them. Learn it the right way, then branch out. Stop skipping steps.

You may be able to lift 315 pounds but that doesn't necessarily mean you can bench that weight
