How the fuck are people repping their bodyweight on the lat pulldown machine? I weigh 185lbs. If I load my pulldown machine up to 110lbs I can do 3 sets of 10 good, slow reps. Then I read online that people are shooting to lift twice their weight on this machine. How is that even possible? Am I just weak as hell or are these people jerking the pulley up and down with their arms rather than their back?

You have to choose: Do you want to stretch your back or do you want mad gains? If you want gains don't let your back lose tension at the bottom watch Ronnie Coleman do them. Cutting the reps short by a few cms can add a ton of weight. My brotheory is that if you go into the stretch you have to get out of it using tiny shitty scapula muscles like whatever the antagonist of the pectoralis minor is. It's a lat exercise scapula muscles should fuck off.
