Would septoplasty or jaw surgery be worth it just to be able to breathe better? I’ve never looked into it but I 100% have either a deviated septum or have my jaws too close to my airway, because every time I breathe it feels like when there’s a too small funnel behind my nose and I can only get like 40% of their air through.

Problem is those are two super invasive surgeries from what I’ve seen and I’m not sure if it’s worth it just to be able to breathe better. And I’m not sure how would I even go about figuring which one I need?

I had a septoplasty so I can talk about that.

To screen for it, they basically put a camera on a tube up your nose and look around for 2 mins. Uncomfortable but worth it. Basically just go to your GP (or your equivalent in your country) and get a referral to an ENT doctor.

Septoplasty procedure is worth it if you have a deviated septum 100%. Procedure is a couple of hours under general anaesthetic and recovery is 2-4 weeks. Recovery is basically just lying down having nosebleeds and a tender nose etc. It is a bit rough but then you can breathe better for the rest of your life so it’s worth it if you have a deviated septum. I can sleep better now, breathe better generally but especially during exercise.
