>herniates your discs
>ends your lifting journey
Best lift ever created
>>
I dont dead lift except i have to in order to barbel shrug almost as much as i weigh
>>
If you lift with perfect form for every repetition through every Planck length of each movement, you literally cannot injury yourself doing an impeccable and perfectly performed deadlift. Hell if you are performing an impeccable and perfectly performed deadlift, a person could literally toss gasoline on you and set you on fire and you wouldn’t even feel warm.
Perfect form is like that.
It protects you in all ways, always.
Literally.
>>
Do Romanian deadlifts and standard deadlifts.
Not complicated.
>>
>>76947260
That's what happens when you ego lift. So don't ego lift retard.
>>
>>76947279
I've said this before, but I watched a video of a zoomer who lifted every single day for a year. His form was atrocious. Painful to watch. Yet he still added about 300 lbs to his deadlift and didn't get hurt.
I think hurting yourself on the deadlift is just not that easy. I have been doing it a decade and never hurt
I usually don't consider myself particularly brave or anything but these threads remind me what PUSSIES so, so many guys are
>>
>still legged deadlift
I don't see the point on any of these variations.
"Oh I want my hamstrings to be stronger." Deadlifts make your hamstrings stronger. "I want stronger traps." Deadlifts give stronger traps.
What is the point? Why not just deadlift? Just because an exercise exists doesn't mean it's useful.

>aiiiieee my back is made of glass
>is that.. a barbell??? aaaiiiieee aaagghhh aaaaa my back just exploded for no reason
>aaaaaa woe is me i cant gain muscle unless i perform perfect platonic ideal reps every single time aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Your sarcasm has herniated my back.

just don't be retarded

Easier said than done, my friend.

I think that the likeness of injuries largely depends on genetics. And also the posture and foundation someone has before he even starts lifting. You can have an uneven pelvis and not even know about it. It makes your whole posture all fucked up and causes muscle imbalances which will be exacerbated by lifting. This will make injuries far likelier even when lifting with near perfect form.
>>
>>76947423
You owe that anon due compensation, you monster.
>>
>>76947303
No. Any amount of weight will cause progressive herniation
>>
>>76947751
Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you herniate a disk to an extreme extent, it flattens out, dehydrates, regresses, and then you are good to go, except for the bone on bone arthritis.
>>
>>76947466
niggas bend their lower back like a door hinge and still wonder why they get injuries

youre supposed to keep yo shit straight. if you can deadlift a certain weight without bending your back crazy, just go do some back extensions
>>
>>76947260
I'm going to deadlift next workout. Nothing you say here will stop me.
>>
>>76947783
I guess I needn’t hang in front of your house waiting in my Mercedes to follow you to the gym to stop you.
>>
>>76947260
have you considered using a squat plug to take the load of the spine?
>>
>>76947260
My lower back feels funny even during my warmup sets at like 95lbs lol. Every time I look over in the mirror before starting a rep my back looks straight. Other people have told me my back is straight. I'm making sure to take a deep breath and brace my abs hard. But I still get that lower back discomfort. The funny thing is that despite how uncomfortable I feel immediately following the lift, within 20 minutes I'm always back to normal and feel fine the next day, and never had any serious injuries.

Pic related deadlifted 5x his own bodyweight.
>>
>>76947861
That's because regardless of spine straightness or bracing, the conventional deadlift recruits the lower back due to the leverage the bar places on it. Getting a little sore because of this is fine, but if you're worried, take up jefferson curls or zercher squats in order to slowly start directly strengthening the lower back.

>>76947260
my back used to hurt like shit all the time
then i started doing deadlifts and i have 0 back pain anymore
>>
>>76947861
I'd recommend doing hyperextensions to strengthen the erectors. I did that instead of deadlifting for a couple week and when I went back to deadlifting I felt no more pain.

>couple of punks show up to rob me
>tell them to fuck off
>they pull out knifes, guns and pipebombs
>little do these fools know I prepared with years of starting strength
>assume deadlift position and start doing deadlifts with impeccable form
>deflect every attack until the robbers flee
Thanks anon

>>76947840
That's stupid, literally pointless.

>>76948059
Yeah but anons here can't deadlift 315 because they're scared

Sciatica doesn't start out that bad but when you get it you gotta stop doing what you're doing.

That happens when the extruded material from the herniated disk enters the spinal cord and first deadens, then destroys the sensory nerves to your lower back. In a few months you won’t feel your dick or your legs. Then it’s game on because now you can lift anything without back pain, albeit you will likely shortly lose your motor nerves as well and become wheelchair bound. But until then it’s Game On Bro.

>>
>>76948059
I'm not saying that you can't get insanely strong even with a fucked up posture. I'm saying that having a fucked up posture increases the likeness of injuries by a lot. Also, muscle imbalances themselves can cause muscle spasms and chronic pain.
IMO it's better to correct your posture before you start heavy lifting. Injuries and chronic pain are no joke. Chronic pain fucks up your sleep and causes high stress. It also causes a decrease in grey matter, it literally makes you dumber.

That's not stiff legged deadlift. You don't bend the knees at all in the stiff legged variation, which is why it's called stiff legged.
>>
>>76947337
>if you don't immediately die on the spot, that means you're not hurting yourself!
>>
>>76949233
Almost everyone has some kind of muscle imbalance. If you fixate on 'correcting' imbalances (which may not even be correctable) before getting to basic foundational lifts, you will just stay a DYEL forever. And in fact part of the solution for identifying and correcting such imbalances is to, guess what, lift heavy. It's like people who spend an hour doing banded warmups and bird dogs and so on before they feel comfortable to even squat an unloaded barbell, they're majoring in the minors and wasting their training time when they could just squat and get a vastly better stimulus instead.
