Lately I've been reading stories about the 2 year compulsory military sevice in communist Czechoslovakia and I've been wondering if the average fitizen would surive it. The worst part of it was probably the hazing of first year recruits by second year recruits, NCOs and COs. It was higly dependent on where you were stationed. Some examples are: >giving your food and drink to older recruits>giving your money and cigarettes to older recruits>Being forced to do some kind of busywork like scrubing the floor with a toothbrush. Being sent outside with buckets to bring fresh air into the room etc.>Being publicly humiliated like being forced to crawl naked on all fours and bark like a dog>Getting your nose broken to collect the blood in can>Getting a regular beat down >Getting beaten up within an inch of your life and getting your limbs broken>Getting thrown out of the windowStanding up for yourself often resulted in getting brutally beaten up. Snitching to the COs also resulted in getting brutally beaten up + most of the COs didn't give a shit or participated on the hazingHow would you survive a year of this kind of treatment?

>>76956495The COs were often incompetent alcoholic retards, who were barely literate. They usually got their rank due to political reasons (being loyal communists). They performed a job similar to american drill instructors. The worst case scenario was supposedly being placed into an infantry regiment. Most infantrymen were the lowest of the low: gypsies, ex-cons, iliterate elementary school dropouts, violent alcoholics and literal retards. These were the people who hould beat you up almost every day for fun. IIRC the regiments were structured in a way which gave the second year recruits a numerical advantage, so fighting back was mostly futile and would only result in getting beaten up far more brutally and getting targeted in the future. If you had a valuable skill and/or a highschool diploma you could become a specialist, so you would be placed amongst more inteligent people. Hazing in these regiments was ussually milder and way less violent. If you were a college graduate you would serve only a year and you would automatically be an NCO so the regular recruits couldn't touch you in most cases.

There were even cases of second year recruits beating someone to death. My uncle who served told me a story about hazing. Some second year recruits were giving him and other first year recruits shit. So he stood up for himself and the second year recruits jumped them. It was 30 drunk second year recruits and NCOs against 10 first year recruits. They got brutally beaten up and when they later told their CO they got jumped again.
