>>
the chin up bar for fatties
>>
mindmuscleconnectionlet
do them one handed until you learn to squeeze your lat
>>
>>76993788
Or quit being a fag and do pull-ups (assisted or weighted)
>>
>>76993781
How far are you supposed to pull the bar down? Every channel the guy is pulling to a different position. Its not like that with squats or deadlifts or bench or any type of curl. If it is, there is a specific reason and they usually call the exercise something else. Lat pulldowns and pull-ups people are all over the place. When I say people I mean youtubers with fitness channels.
>>
that's why you do them with 1 arm
>>
This is one of the few machines that actually has a use
It helps build strength for people who can't chin themselves
Pretty much every other machine is just an inferior substitute of something you can do with a weight
>>
>>76993788
Worked better for me when I started sitting more directly under the bar.
>>
>>76993796
stop listening to people online about where to bring x thing during a movement
the movement has to be natural, you fuck your shit up at the part where you force the movement to x position.

It's not rocket science, put the weight at like 20lbs and do a few warmups, whatever is your max rom is your max rom. everything else is cope.
>>
>>76993803
posts like this is why I come to this website. will test.
>>
>>76993796
>How far are you supposed to pull the bar down?
To your chest. And if you want to focus on lats lean back a little. Pulling straight down is pecs too.
>>
>>76993781
Doing these with a very closed grip did more for my lats than anything including pullups. Shoulder width, don't lean too far back and you'll feel your back for the first time being sore.
>>
>>76993805
Yeah, there's a reason pulldowns are swarmed by DYELs
>>
>>76993793
>>76993786
Yeah yeah. Don't shit yourself twink.
>>76993803
Those hit better than any Pullup or Chin up variant. Cables provide constant tension and resistance, something DYEL niggers don't get. Ideally you would do both.
>>
>>76993793
Or ignore your gay feelings and lift the fucking weight and grow.
>>
thats why i only do 1 vertical pull but 2 horizontal on back day
>>
>>76993851
now I need to try this

>>76993781
I find more annoying the girl who takes a bench, a barbell and a fuckton of space to do not even 1plate hip thrusts ... and with bad form, and they just leave their shit there after they finish
>>
But what if I like them and feel a good stretch based bois

why waste money on a machine like that when you can do pull ups?
>>
>>76994338
those machines are for people who can't do pull ups
>>
>>76993781
Agreed. Got all the way up to 90kg X10 reps and it didn't grow my lats.
I have only grown my lats with one arm DB rows historically.
>>
>>76993781
Lat pulldowns are legitimately iq filters in a gym. People who say they “cant feel their lats” (hear this shit a lot) from lat pulldowns are invariably doing them wrong.
>>
>>76993863
>>76994338
>do BW pull ups for 3 sets to failure
>now my options to deload are either to fuck around with resistance band on a bar
>assisted only in bottom half of the motion because resistance band
>no idea how much weight is actually substracted
>risk of getting eithe face or balls smacked if band slips
>or just go to pulldown machine, set weight to around 70-80% of my BW and crank 2-3 more sets to failure
>same weight throught the whole range of motion
>better control
I mean... you should use every tool you have available. Machines, free weights, callisthenics. Just rotate them every session or every few weeks to diversify your workout
>>
>>76994566
>6 sets on same movement

>>

I'm working on clapping pullups I don't think you know what you're talking about
>>
>>76993781
If you row overhand you should lat pull underhand you'll see why

I prefer these as it isolates the lats better.

Fatty alert.
>heh fuckin fags dont realize I'm one bulk away from hafthor
>>
>>76995117
I'm 230 lbs at 6'1 and can do 4x12 with 20kg in a backpack. You're just fucking coping because you're shit at Pulldowns. Pullups are fine when you don't have access to the gym. If you do, there are much better ways to actually develop the Back.

Either way, fuck off you stupid DYEL.
>>
>>76995136

Let's see those lats

I have a feeling your lats are not as developed as hard as you crow. Lose weight and they might pop for you

Switched from lat pull-downs to chin-ups and pull-ups.
Added weights to both after time.
Decided to test how much stronger I was and tried lat pull-downs as a test.
I lost thirty percent of strength in lat pulldowns thanks to doing weighed chin-ups and pull-ups.
>>
>>76995169
we're beyond fucked, the day of the rope is never coming. but i have had to hang upside down from my legs and pull someone up. weird accident in a warehouse i worked in.

You can't post something like that and not give us a run down in greentext form.

I am a fatty (90kg, 177 cm) and I can do 15 pull ups but prefer the pull down
>>
>>76995207
ok here goes
>woman in bucket mounted on forktruck picking orders on high rack (she wasn't supposed to be doing this for the exact reason this happened, they're supposed to drop the pallet then put it back up)
>forktruck gets bumped by another forktruck passing by
>truck she's lifted in tips over up against rack she's picking from
>thrown down and slams her head into inside of bucket
>can't just tip the truck back on wheels and drop her back down because it would fling her out like catapult
>can't wait for fire dept/ems the truck is unbalanced and could tip back anyway and fling her out
>i scramble up scaffold at end of rack to top fifth level and make my way across tops of stacked pallets, like a weird mountaintop climb
>the only way to get her out is hang upside down from leading edge of rack and pull her out of the bucket
>50 feet above the concrete floor
>pull her up and hang her there while two other guys who came up after me clear the pallet she's next to
>they guide her back into the rack over the pallet and we lower her down and i monkey my way back up to the beam i was hanging from
>unfortunately for the story's sake the truck did not tip back and i did not pull her out just in the nick of time LOL but we got her out and she was safe but had concussion
>she got fired and i got on probation for not waiting for help
>>
>>76993803
just do a 1 arm pull up. do you even lift bro?
>>
>>76995248
Impressive. But also dubious that there wasn't a better solution, having at least another forklift available and the combined brain power and problem-solving skills of two forklift operators.
>>
>>76995248
That is cool, thank you
>>
>>76995266
in retrospect the best thing to do would have been nothing and wait but we didn't know if the truck would tip back on its wheels and fling her out or at least slam her against the bucket again. and it was the only bucket so we couldn't raise the other truck to her not even with a palette, that was more dangerous than what we did. trust me, the decision we had to make in seconds was dragged out in investigation for a couple weeks so i heard all about what should or could have been done but in the moment + adrenaline i just did it. the final determination was that the other truck should have been parked against the truck to prevent it from tipping and we waited for ems, which is exactly what we should have done and why i got suspended. but shit man we weren't trained for anything like this and i just acted.
>>
>>76995283
Obviously sitting in an armchair is easier but placing the blades of the free forklift under the tipped one so it doesn't fall was my obvious instinct reading that. One forklift can lift another one, and you're reminded of this constantly by being told not to do it.

If you can't feel your lats on the lat pulldown try doing what mentzer suggests (inb4 >mentzer)

>barbell curl in the moderate rep range until failure
>rest pause then crank out one or two more curls
>immediately proceed to the lat pulldown machine
>do close grip lat pulldown with chin up grip (palms facing you)
>moderate rep range
>your lats are now doing most of the work and your bicep is being hammered past failure

i think its amazing for +max weight scapula pulls or hangs
>>76993788
u dont need to do anything else other than reps until u start tweaking/spasming you'll immediately build mind muscle when you work through the spasm
>>76994338
pull ups need like a base momentum i find
