I went to the gym from 2010 to 2020, i didnt even get a single cold virus or any illnessThen locksdowns happened, and i was getting a cold like every month (not covid, just a basic cold virus) and I started lifting at home, and for the next 2 years until 2023, i was getting a cold every few months (again not covid, just a normal cold)Then I went back to the gym and its been almost 3 years now and i havent been sick since i went back to a public gymI am wondering, does consistent exposure to virus and bacteria at my local gym actually keep my immune system strong? Or is this just a gigantic coincidence
bump
>>77002908it's possible but no one can say with a 100 % certainty I think. Afaik "exposure to normal levels of bacteria/viruses keeping the immune system updated" is a commonly accepted thing and I remember people talking about getting sick more after the lockdowns ended, but it could also always be other factors. Theoretically the gym should work pretty well for this imo
I've had a cold twice in under 4 months
>>77002908i still get sick 3-4 times a year ranging anywhere from a mild inconvenience to bed-ridden for days.
>>77002908Your gym must be the just amount of nasty for it not to make you bed ridden and also enough to illicit an immune adaptation
