Is it retarded to train compound exercises to failure?
Do you really want to fail a squat or a power clean
>>77005344I fail squats all the time man, I just use the safeties
>>77005344If you use a rack with safeties you can fail a compound without a worry. The only lift I don't train to failure is deadlifts.
>>77005372Actually, I don't think "failure" on deads is that bad. I think if you know your limits you can safely lower the weight back down if you know you won't get it up. But I'm a beginner and it's likely I'll injure myself so use your head
No, it depends on the exercise and how safely you can fail it
>>77005344Yeah if failure could kill or maim you.Reps within 5 of failure (even if the point of failure changes) all contribute about the same to hypertrophy. Going all out for 2 sets is 10, going 2-shy for 3 sets is 9. If you do accessories or any supplimental lifts for that same group it all becomes a wash because the soft cap (the point past which gains become abysmal for additional investment) is about 20-25 a session and maybe 40-60 a week. It's not hard to hit that in 2-3 hours a week of actual gym time.
>>77005344I do all my compounds to failure all the time. I define failure as "can't move weight without flexing the spine". 0 problems.>>77005361I blacked out on OHP once because I was very very tired and the body just knew to throw bar forward as I was fading out. Failing power cleans is a joke. Though imo high pulls are better.
>>77005344>no/thread
>>77005344Only a weak faggot would ask that question. You worthless inferior maggot. Lowly scoundrel. Low test weak twink.
