When I started as an untrained fatty I couldn't do a single unassisted pullup because how would someone with no back and a 20lb curl pull 200+ pounds?

To do hypertrophy reps of pullups you have to already be either fairly strong or fairly lean

The difference is I had half an inch (.5 in) more arms when I did chins
So yeah. They're an ok exercise but don't seem as important as the main ones.

Only gironda pull ups hit ALL of the back muscles but it looks kinda stupid. For me, it's neutral narrow grip ones to failure then cable pulldowns with around 40-50% of my BW, also to failure

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make but those are excellent reps. They're basically muscle ups without the transition. It's impressive as fuck for a dude that heavy.

I did this shit as a teenage skeleton. I weighed 110lbs and I could do 19 reps. I think that put me at intermediate for that weight. Now I'm a heavy bitch and I don't think I could get close to that.
