How do you stay fit
>>
You don't, eight years of night shift ruined every aspect of my life, only starting to get back on track now after I quit and started living normal.
>>

Qrd? Were you actually not able to work out or anything
>>
Switch to day shift. I lost 50 pounds doing nights for 2 years and ended up skele mode

Nights give you brain damage and make you retarded too
>>
All of this coping.
Just put extra effort into being healthy in all other aspects that you can control, as if your health is based on say 3 pillars, sleep, diet, exercise.
Your sleep pillar is weakened and that's okay because you have the other two but you have to make sure and compensate for the lack of sleep.
Look at airline pilots, flying from different locations hopping time zones having a lot of stress, sleeping in hotels where you can't fully rest, eating airplane food, etc. Hardly any of them are overweight and they almost always have a good head on their shoulders.

You must stop working nights as soon as possible it's terrible for your mitochondria. Look up the light diet matt maruca on youtube

>Switch to day shift
Yeah I'm sure he never thought of that
>>
You have to commit to the schedule and solidify your circadian rhythm. Fucking with when you're awake on your weekends will ruin you. It's best to have your free time in the morning so you can have all your appointments or whatever at times you're normally awake anyways. Get really bright lights at home so it feels like day as well. I've worked nights over 6 years now and tried everything to get more free time when the sun is up. Making exceptions every now and then is fine but, just like lifting, sleep consistency is key. I'm as anti-social as can be, so I don't really give a shit about being awake when everyone else is, but if you want to hang out with friends you're kinda boned.

Eat the livers of day walkers

I used to stock shelves then got a job in a warehouse and I'd just periodicaly do push ups. Got home about 6:45-ish sleep til 3ish.

I work 3 nights a week and have 4 days off. I work out on my 4 days off because I feel like pure shit on the days I work.
>>

Lift when you get home from a shift.
>ewwww icky that sucks tho
yeah it does and you’ll get used to it after a month or two
>>
dont ever fucking work night shift unless the career youre in mandates it and even then try your fucking hardest to get some potion that an exception to the rule. Just doing 1 all nighter a week will fuck you up
>>
>>77017226
I have to do 2 12h grind filming weddings for two days in a row and I’ll finish 2 at night. Can this be considered night shift? It’s fucking brutal but I’ll make 800 euros in 2 days
>>
>>77017349
No the real brutal night shifts are the ones that are from dusk to dawn.

You have a very feminine typing style that betrays that you have too much stomach fat and you're not white. I'm guessing either mexican or filipino.

Thank you trio of truth anons. I love you and you give me jope
>>
>>77017900
there's a growing body of evidence that working night shift has negative effects on your overall health, cortisol levels, sleep quality, etc. other anons here are right, you can offset it with a regular schedule, other healthy habits. good luck in SICU.
>>
Last 2 post are mine. On top of bright ass lights should I get blackout curtains?
>>
>>77017843

Glad to see the positivity, I feel like pessimism is even more damaging than night shifts.
Yes blackouts are a must or just some way to make your room dark like blankets over the windows.
People have different feelings about melatonin but I take it at least two or three times a week on days where I feel like I'll need it. Magnesium Glycinate is another good vitamin to add for increased sleep quality. I try and limit caffeine intake halfway through my shift in hopes of falling asleep right when I get back. So yeah stimulants like nicotine or caffeine basically need to be taken at the beginning of your shift which is a good time to enjoy them anyways.
>>
>>77017988
I see i see thank you anon. I'll look into that vitamin D and magnesium stuff. I have a conference tomorrow for the SICU. So scared lol
