Who is /fat/ for?
For Corn Consumers who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros) or LoseIt (great for both).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

I was a skinny fat, and struggled a lot trying to lose weight.
Eventually I proteinmaxxed with eggs and cut all processed sugars and maintained reasonable complex carbs.
I lost 50 lbs just like that.
Problem now I look like a twig twink while in my mid 30s.
What can I do to fix this without gaining my weight back?

welp... I'm back.
Initially lost 28kg from 130kg to 102kg from 2021 to 2022
decided to take a "break" and thought I was doing OK, got on the scale 3 weeks ago and saw 117.5kg felt so fucking bad with myself for regaining more than half back

I'm back on it again, 3 weeks in doing omad and cico again, down to 113.1kg this morning
this time I ain't taking a break, hopefully I reach sub 100 by April and then once I hit 90 I'm looking to incorporate some hypertrophy training to maintain the kcal deficit and build muscle

I have a big frame, good fat distribution (at least I think I do) and some leftover muscle from when I did powerlifting

You’ll have more calories to work with as you said. Just plan your daily intake accordingly. Only give yourself a few pigout days, and if you’re planning to eat sloppa then just eat light before it. Be smarter about it, you don’t need to eat like shit all the time, just on occasions.
More importantly if you’ve been conditioning yourself with exercise during the weight loss process you should be able to work off anything you eat or gain in the gym now.

hey it's me the dude who will live off beans and rice once a day ifor february. I got some questions about the intermittent fasting approach.
I would like to use next week to get somewhat used to it and just stop eating lunch first. This way I would go from 3 meals to 2 and then to 1 instad of jumping from 3 to 1 immediately. Would that be a good idea or make the hunger worse? because I have to get used to less food twice?
Next question is what is considered breaking fasting? Do multivitamines and minerals (like zinc and magnesium), creatin or pre workout powder break it and make my body think it should get hungry again?
>>
How long has it been since the first time you tried to "get serious about weight loss?"
First time in your life, not time since your most recent resolution.
>>
>>77029765
10 years ago, many losses and regains, this is my best stint so far because I'm using tirzepatide, currently at lowest weight ever as an adult, BMI is almost normal and I can tell a lot of the flab is loose skin already.
>>
>>77029764
I can tell you from experience fasting doesn't work long term, specially OMAD. The feeling of constant hunger day after day eats away at you slowly until you break. My most successful weight loss attempts without drugs were always the boring ones. Lunch, dinner, maybe a snack, 500 cal deficit, that's it.
>Next question is what is considered breaking fasting?
Anything that contains macronutrients. Carbs, proteins or fats.

>will I never be able to eat sloppa again?
here's what happens to most people who make it- first, they set a goal weight and work very hard for a long time to reach it. they tell themselves that when they reach their goal, they can eat anything they want again. they slip up sometimes but mostly stay on target and eventually they do lose the weight and reach their goal. but, as they slowly change their eating habits, they start to enjoy eating healthier foods. their bodies clean out all the poison that modern goyslop puts into them and they free themselves from their addictions to many of the chemicals in those monstrous foods.

then they reach their target and they decide to eat the goyslop as a reward/victory celebration but.. it just doesn't taste as good anymore and it makes them feel bad afterward. they find that they prefer the healthy food and only have the junk occasionally and usually with regret.
>>
>>77029827
No its exactly the opposite, thats why most people don't make it
How can you be so wrong
>>
>>77029849
i interpreted that post to be from the perspective of the subset of the people who did make it.
>>
protip: you can eat a LOT of chicken because it doesn't have many calories per pound. if you can't choke down plain chicken, get some BBQ sauce but dilute it with water. count the calories and stay under your limit. if you want to feel fuller, add veggies to the side. you won't be hungry eating this way.

I have zepbound (tirz) prescribed to me in the US.
I've posted about it before, but it's fucking life changing. Battled obesity since childhood and this is the first time it's ever felt manageable long term. I made it down to 300 pounds today, gonna break the 2-- threshold soon. First time in like 3 or 5 years maybe. Since into Covid.
It's not so much a cheat code like how naturally thin/healthy weight normies perceive it. It just puts you on an even playing field, lets your mind work like one that doesn't constantly send craving and compulsion signals for sugar and fat. I still crave things, I still have to make choices and some days I do better or worse. But fundamentally it's just way easier to eat at a deficit.
It does definitely make healthier foods more palatable than before. I used to never be able to stick to zero calorie drinks. Now it's such an easy no brainer substitution to have a diet or zero coke instead of the sugar version.
>>
>>77029894
Yeah I'm running 1mg a week and its crazy to not have hunger all the time and be full after a normal meal

not an option I have enough money to maybe get a daily meal of rice and beans. I'm not looking for the optimum but for the least suicide inducing version. And I heard multiple times now that the hunger just stopps after a few days of intermittent fasting?

idk about intermittent fasting but while water fasting, hunger goes away at the second or third day.
going high protein and low carb/keto also curbs hunger by a ton.

well, if your hormones are fucked, yes. if not, no.
how to unfuck your hormones? we don't know.
ghrelin signals hunger while the other 3 signal satiety and they seem to get fucked after weight loss in some people. why, we don't know.
>Conclusions
>One year after initial weight reduction, levels of the circulating mediators of appetite that encourage weight regain after diet-induced weight loss do not revert to the levels recorded before weight loss. Long-term strategies to counteract this change may be needed to prevent obesity relapse.

>Weight loss (mean [±SE], 13.5±0.5 kg) led to significant reductions in levels of leptin, peptide YY, cholecystokinin, insulin (P<0.001 for all comparisons), and amylin (P=0.002) and to increases in levels of ghrelin (P<0.001), gastric inhibitory polypeptide (P=0.004), and pancreatic polypeptide (P=0.008). There was also a significant increase in subjective appetite (P<0.001). One year after the initial weight loss, there were still significant differences from baseline in the mean levels of leptin (P<0.001), peptide YY (P<0.001), cholecystokinin (P=0.04), insulin (P=0.01), ghrelin (P<0.001), gastric inhibitory polypeptide (P<0.001), and pancreatic polypeptide (P=0.002), as well as hunger (P<0.001).

My doctor and I set 220 as a realistic goal for now as I get past all of the issues that got me here in the first place.
Once I get to 220, we want to establish a plan for getting me back down to 185, my original weight before I ballooned up. I talked about this a bit last thread and brought it up to him at my appointment today.

my original plan was to just get my cardio in at work, but we hired a new guy and he's been doing a lot of the work that requires a lot of walking in order to get him used to the job so I'm committing to the treadmill at the gym now after my lifts. Not like I got anything else going on these days anyways, kek. Used to be in such a hurry to finish my workout. Now I look back and ask myself, "for what? I was always a loser." I want to take it slow and do it right this time.

That being said, how far should I reasonably go? I'm currently 335lbs, want to get down to like 250 before the end of the year with heavy compounds and calorie deficit (best case) or at least ballpark 270. Can I just go until I can't go any more that day? Got new ear buds and a new phone for Christmas so I can watch stuff while I walk/jog, so I can go a lot further without feeling burnout. What's the general consensus here? I know 10,000 steps is the rule of thumb but is there anything beyond that since I'm so big? Today I did 2 miles, 1.5 miles was 5% incline at 2.5~3mph, then the last half mile I did some HIIT. 500 calories burned, made up for most of the club sandwich my boss gave me at work. Could have definitely gone further though.

Yes.*
*The hardest part isn't losing the weight it's maintaining your weight loss. Once you reach your goal weight set yourself a weight you want to maintain (I think bf % is simpler if you plan to gain muscle) and stick below that point for the same duration as your cut. If it was over 6 months then maintain for 6 months. That means you do the same calorie counting for 6 months and keep the same exercise regiment. Also get to your maintenance calories progressively don't just increase your daily calories by 700. You'll find that balance after a few trial and error increasing calories week after week until you hit a number that stalls your weight.
After you are done just weigh yourself regularly and you can most likely forgo the calorie counting and eat some slop. Like >>77029827 said it's not as rewarding as you think, but it can be dangerous. When your weight/bf% increases past whatever upper bound you set yourself just cut until you hit whatever goal (lbs/bf%) you have in mind. Cutting 5lbs then is going to be so much easier. The danger really is crashing out and quitting everything as soon as you hit your goal weight. I've twice lost 40lbs only to put 30 back on doing that.

>Intermittent fasting
This is the way I am going to go. Found the kinobody guide online and going to commit to it 100%. He talks about not to doing any strenuous workouts or running that might increase appetitie which after a while doing this I tend to agree. Walking and some lifting is fine, but I wont be doing heavy leg workouts in my routine. Ill have a light meal for lunch and then some variation of meat and potatoes for dinner.

Yeah, I was going to actually suggest elliptical. I know you said you had blisters, but if you go at a moderate pace and you wear an extra pair of socks, you're not really picking your feet up and down rapidly in succession. You're more or less pushing them back and forward, so that might be a little better. Additionally, I would recommend some topical witch hazel cream/liquid to decrease the blister size and thus pain. You can get it at virtually any pharmacy or corner store and it's dirt cheap.

I wonder what would be the best overall way to reach my daily fat goal. The choices are:
> 2 salmon fillets instead of 1 for 3rd meal. More protein so 1 less spoon of Gold Standard with morning oats.
> Switch to chicken thighs for 2nd meal. Much cheaper than chicken breast.
> Keep adding 30ml of Olive Oil to 3rd meal. Helps with coating potatoes with spices and makes them cook nice.
> Snack on nuts.

I would suggest rotating out a few ounces of nuts. One day you might have almonds, another day you might have macadamia, things like that. This is healthier than isolated fats because you get phytonutrients and fiber and all kinds of other good minerals.

Day 9 of eating pic related every day.
It continues to work for me. In those 9 days I have dropped all the weight I have regained when I had a break due to sickness and holidays, and I'm at my new low for this attempt with no cravings and minimal hunger.
I will replace the oatmeal with something else, as it's not really doing much for me, at this point I might just not eat breakfast and I think I'd feel the same, but I don't want to go below 1300kcal since I know this won't end well for me.
I will also add some sauce to my main meals as the only sticking point is that they're a bit too dry, I found a tomato based sauce that's 33kcal/100ml so I'll probably go with that.
Shopping only once a week has been a massive boon for me, I didn't realize how many of my cravings came from going grocery shopping often and seeing all the tasty stuff on sale.

I made taiwanese braised beef soup. Normally you make it with noodles but i just drink it as a broth to cut cals. I use the woks of life recipe, and it's delicious. Flavourful, good protein from the beef (I use chuck because it's what I have), easy to meal prep in bulk, warming and low cal. A lot of Fatties really underestimate how important flavour is for feeling satiated. You can buy all the spices of Amazon

I think I've found my life-fix
Standing desk is the best thing ever
Sometimes i just listen to music and start dancing it feels so good to stand and move while being busy, I barely sit anymore

I want one with a treadmill but idk if it's worth the cost since I'm already losing weight. If I ever need a new desk I'll take it into consideration.

This is more about how bad sedentaryness is for longevity than weight, but it helps with weight control anyways

I'm too fat to use one, my feet just start hurting(WAY quicker than when walking for some reason).
I got a walking pad but I need to drop a bit more weight before I can use it since I'm above the weight limit.
>>
>>77031871
Yeah I can see that being an issue, for me standing is also more taxing then walking
Ordered myself a walking pad that supposedly holds 250lb which would work for me (230lb)

But I believe its just not being used to standing from sitting too long

anon, it's literally a laxative. it's just not a stimulant laxative so it's not as bad to use long term.
>Another option would be a magnesium-based laxative, such as milk of magnesia or magnesium citrate. These are members of a larger class of laxatives called saline osmotics, which draw water into the bowels and trigger bowel movements. The active ingredients include magnesium, sulfate, citrate, and phosphate.
