How do you stop losing motivation? I'll have a short period a few months of working out, seeing results. Get sick, stop working out because I'm sick and then never pick it back up again. For about 3 months I was walking 1-3 miles a night, got real sick for like 2 weeks with my stomach, then stopped and haven't walked except for maybe 5 times since Christmas. For another time I was every day working my upper body with dumbbells and growing my arms, especially my tricep and then I got sick for a week with the flu, and then I never picked it back up.
>>77052758>motivationJust keep doing it regardless, it will get better
you dont, motivation means nothing, only discipline
>>770527581. Come to the realization that physical fitness is the cornerstone of a decent life2. Find a way to work it into your schedule, try lots of different things and figure out what works and what doesn't for yourself3. Just do it until it becomes habit. Consistency is key.
>>77052758You have to have a deeper motivation. "I want to be fit" is rarely enough. You need to have a dream or a lifestyle choice or insecurity that necessitates being fit to exist.
do you seriously consider walking 3 miles an exercise? it's probably better than nothing but let's not kid ourselves here
>>77052758Switched to bodyweight only this month, after 9 years of consistently lifting weights. The reason was a general lack of robustness.I also remember getting sick soon after hitting PRs.My gums stopped bleeding as well, which were bleeding for as long as I can remember, with no changes to my diet.Just do what you enjoy man.
>>77052758You need to do it even if you don’t want to
You have to Griffithmax bro
>>77052758This is why you keep exercising even when you're sick. Zero excuses. Always do something, even if you're so incapacitated that it can only be symbolic.
Just remember how walking is the greatest thing and feeling ever. No sarcasm. From, someone who also loses a bit of motivation to walk during the winter. Also, we all need breaks sometimes and we all lose motivation. Just get up and walk your 1-2+ miles. Just keep doing it. I honestly swear it’s the best thing. Think how muscular your legs will be. Endorphins. There’s not really any cons. Walk and battle the air with your arms pumping. I’ll be out here walking, too. You can think of me.
>>77052758i dont even remember what movies this guy was in, all i remember now is this memewhat a legacy
>>77052758If you don’t enjoy working out and need motivation then it’s not sustainable for you. Lifting is not for everyone I personally itch to go gym even when ill or on rest days, lifting for 16 years. No motivation needed
>>77052773Can you even define discipline? How does it bypass motivation? I think you are a dumbass personally
>>77052758>cut ALL media>browse /fit/ exclusivelyyou will lift
>>77052758The key to success not just in fitness but in all things is life is not motivation, but dedication. Motivation helps but consistency anddedication are the solid foundations to building good habits. Motivation is nice but it is too transient and unreliable. Carve your body with a chisel that never dulls rather than the one that is only useful when the sun is shining.
>>77053157I don't get the guy mentioning butane.
When I see people looking better than me I get motivated. When I see fat people I feel disgusted and get an urge to make sure I work out today. When I see beautiful women I want to look in top shape. When I have sex I want to make sure I can perform at peak. Basically everything motivates me, stop doing whatever lazy shit you're doing and stop consuming so much social media.
>>77052758Guilt is what keeps me from stopping. Like today I wanted to move my rests day to today because I feel off but now I'm doing my work out because fuck I feel like a failure.
>>77052758i lift to getting mi pp hard nakid girls
>>77052758For me, its spite.
>>77053707Motivation = I want to do thisDiscipline = I have to do thisIf you cant grasp that you’re a retard
>>77052758having your routine disrupted fucks everything up. The trick is to just get back into it on any level, even the smallest amount. Once the routine comes back everything else will follow.
>>77056118>even the smallest amountThis. If I'm having an awful week with no desire to lift then I drop everything to 60% of the max weight. It's not optimal but it keeps me consistent.
