In 99% of cases, the problem isn't that the diet doesn't work long term, but it's that the mindset of the person following the diet doesn't work long term. Keto diets slow the metabolism because carbs are needed to transform inactive T4 into active T3. Keto diets often lead to increased levels of reverse T3 (rT3) which slows metabolic rate.

The body is stressed by low blood sugar and triggers the adrenal glands to release cortisol to stimulate gluconeogenesis (creating glucose from protein) to maintain stable blood sugar levels. In other words, keto causes high cortisol levels.

Keto will lead to you feeling cold, stressed, and tired.

And you will never realize until you're 8 weeks into whatever shitty rice and broccoli and chicken cutting "diet" that you're losing nothing and gaining water weight because you have multiple vitamin carences that supplements cant solve and that you need animal fat for literally every bodily function.
Yes it's stupid to restrict your calories or increase them radically based on an arbitrary number. And when it shuts down you'll never know since calories in biochemistry are just the equivalent of "artist conceptions" for how your body deals with food. It's a black box and yiu can never truly know your BMR or even your expenditure during exercise. CICO touting is religious pseudo-science.

Every single time keto has poor outcomes for someone, like clockwork. It's astonishing how mentally deranged ketolards are.
