About to spend more than a grand on this.Talk me out of it.
>>77085675but it costs less than $1k
>>77085675I have thought about getting one of these for a long time, but I don't really want to fatigue my back with cardio.
>>77085693not in yuroland
>>77085675>>77085698Just buy a kayak if you want to be a dork
>>77085675it's really good exercise you will not regret it the foot straps for the ones in my gym are so wore down that they loosen while rowing, sucks big time>>77085696you can easily control the toughness by not pushing/pulling as hard, really that's where the resistance comes from, not the dials that everyone turns up to 10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN0J6qKCIrI
Why buy this when you can just use exercise bands dumbbells barbells etc ? Are training for the rowing team?
>>77085710>exercise bands dumbbells barbellsah yes those are great for cardio, what the fuck are you saying
>>77085675I like mine.
Ok; Don't.
>>77085722Lifting a barbell raises your heart rate prove me wrong.
>>77085731Fuck. Ah, fuck, you did it.
Buy a ski erg insteador at least buy it secondhand off facebook marketplace
>>77085736If lifting 5x5 feels like cardio you need to do actual cardio.
>>77085750>ski ergthat looks spectacularly weird
>>77085760This.Do retards actually think lifting weights is cardio?
>>77085675The screen and phone holder doesn't move with the seat. So it's hard for retards and eyelets to track their progress and speed.>>77085700Rowers use more muscle groups than a kayak, and they cost 5x as much.
>>77085675Just do high rep pull ups and rows lmao
>>77085760>>77085766I do full body workouts. If I'm still sore but still feel like working out I will do a light crossfit type workout while keeping my heartrate up.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbM-Jon_cpI
>>77085772Dyel?
>>77085790>literally lift so much I do it for cardio too
>>77085792Bro gets winded shaking his blender cup.
>>77085794whatever fag enjoy your spin class I guess I'll continue pumping iron like a real heterosexual man
>>77085801Cardio is for fags?Is wiping after you shit gay too?Or is the bench brown after you use it?
>>77085766Why the fuck would I do cardio when I can use a lower weight with higher reps as a warmup?
>>77085814>Cardio is for fags?I bet you're the fag who recommended the skierg, probably the gayest looking thing you can do in a gym other than having a spotter for your hip thrusts.
>>77085814If you dont get an ounce of poop stuck in your asscrack's hair you should seriously consider transitioning
>>77085818>>77085820You are literally too stupid to even workout if you confuse weight lifting with actual cardio holy shit.
>>77085833What do you think a fucking rowing machine is? it builds muscle and raises heart rate
>>77085833enjoy your next skierg session gaylord
>>77085675i got a used nordic track on fb marketplace for 400, works just fine.
>>77085835>it builds musclechrist
>>77085837Wtf is a skierg?
Everyone ITT is literally retarded (except me)
>>77085849a cardio machine that makes you look like a gay autist skiing across an invisible field
>>77085853Then sign me up because it triggers little macho bros like you.
>>77085861>being a massive faggot to own the Chudsnice
>>77085845Nobody is that retarded, right?
>>77085862>Muh masculinity!>Can't skierg!>Can't wipe!
>>77085868>can't lift weights for cardio>it HAS to be a gay machine that makes me look gay
>>77085864rowing builds more muscle than playing World of Warcraft, but less than carrying groceries
>>77085870Go for a fucking walk.>Can't afford machinesPoorfag
>>77085881>Go for a fucking walk.unironically gay.
>>77085884>Walking is gay
>>77085675Bought mein used for $400
>>77085893>walkingyou're not gay>Go for a fucking walk.you're gay
>>77085898You can't go for a walk without fucking a man?Explain this to me.
>>77085884walking builds muscle if you move your arms
>>77085903sure, a heterosexual can, but a heterosexual wouldn't go for a "fucking" walk in the first place
>>77085909>He's ESLFucking is an adjective in "fucking walk" not a verb.Lift a book bro.
>>77085909>>77085912I want to congratulate you both because this might be the most retarded exchange of the year on this god forsaken board
>>77085912>implying that wasn't a subconscious insertion of homosexual intercourse into everythingNice try homo but you're not fooling anyone. You said it yourself. You like doing gay things to own the Chuds.
>>77085916I'm not insecure about my masculinity.Checmate.
>>77085907
>>77085907I swear to god if I see another retard who confuses cardio with strength wtf even is this board anymore.
>>77085921Congratulations. I'll continue lifting weights for cardio and not looking like an autistic fag.
>>77085928YOU CAN DO BOTH DIPSHIT
>>77085930And you can lift weights for cardio dipshit. Pretend that was in all caps.
>>77085930Lower the weights you god damn sperg and lift faster.that's your god damn cardio
>>77085932>>77085933You have to be trolling.A warm is not a cardio workout.
>>77085935You have to be underage and autistic.
>>77085930strength training kills cardio gains and viceversa you have to choose or you won't break any world records which is the only reason to exercise, maybe if I become a legend at something a woman will rape me which is what it would take for me to have sex
>>77085675it is the most boring form of cardio you'll ever do, and you will not stick with it.
>>77085767Buy used you fucking dumbass.
>>77085675I used to do these at my gym but it was really boring. Nothing beats jogging on a treadmill while watching random videos.
>>77085995ESL-kun kayaks and rowers aren't the same thing.
>>77085993>>77086010play the fishing game while you listen to a podcast how much stimulation do you need?
>>77086025I need visual stimulation. If I'm outside then I can bike or jog for hours even without music.
>>77086018you mean "row boats", esl-chan? a kayak is a better option, for one thing you row facing forward and don't need the water to be perfectly still
>>77086039that's what the fishing game is for, you can play games on the tiny screen that you control with your rowing, one is about eating smaller fish and not getting eaten by sharks, my favorite one just showed cartoon boats to help you visualize your own pace
>>77086048Kayaks barely utilise legs though
>>77086058So do rowers. You can just try rowing without moving the seat and see for yourself, the difference is noticeable but not a big deal, in fact for fast 100m sprints the seat isn't supposed to move a lot.
>>77086095So you are saying that performing the exercise incorrectly does not engage all the target muscles?
>>77085993>>77086010the absolute state of you, here's a gif to keep you focused
>>77086400you are a hamster on a wheel
>>77085675I have it in yuroland. It’s breddi good ngl. Been getting gains with doing this fucker for like 10mins on 22 rpm before every workout. The gains might not be connected, idk. It surely isn’t just cardio. Watch your lower back, bro. I’ve been feeling some stiffness and shieeet (could just be the muerto-lifts).
>>77085864>>77085845>t. never rowedThis shit will work your legs, back, abs, lats and arms. Stick to your hypertrophy faggotry, us REAL men sill be doing strenght.
>>77085760You could probably get a good cardio effect from extended complexes tbqh
Meanwhile the superior cardio machine
I had one for about a year then sold it.It is fun and nice to have in your house for a while but after some time you realize it's just about the most boring form of cardio there is.
>>77086587blocks your path
>>77085700>Just buy a kayak if you want to be a dorktub too small
>>77086600I like skipping but it doesn't work the arms the same way, neither speedrope nor a leather one I had with weighted discs in the handles
>>77086600>oop, lemme step over you there, Bud
>>77086590I mean all cardio is boring except if you do it outside. Well I guess any kind of sport you do can be considered cardio but as far as home gym equipment it's all boring. I bought a knock off concept 2 rower and just sit in front of my TV and will row for like half an hour, an hour then put it away.
>>77086747why do you have random people walking around your house?
>>77085750Epileptic crosstrainer is the go
>>77086048Kayakers don't row they paddle>inb4 pedanticdifferent techniques
>>77085675just get a rogue for less than 1k
Why would you get a rower? just get a stationary bike
>>77085675>Talk me out of it.no
Get a treadmill insteadYou have no free limbs on a treadmillRowing for 20 minutes while listening to music / starring at a TV gets boring fast
>>77086048>a kayak is a better option, for one thing you row facing forward and don't need the water to be perfectly stillSince when do you need perfectly still water for rowing??
>>77086048Row boats aren't the same thing as rowing boats(shells) ESL-kun.>>77086010>Nothing beats jogging on a treadmill while watching random videos.I used to wear the Samsung S8 VR shit while on the elliptical and rower. Jogging was too bouncy.
>>77086923>You have no free limbs on a treadmillwhat did he mean by this
Calorie expenditure = VO2 = exercise-induced heart rate All cardio is the same.
>>77085675i really want one but don't have the space for it because I live with my parents to afford me the money to buy one. sigh.
>>77087440it can be stored upright, and they're cheap 2nd handthat said, as many have pointed out, it is boring as shit and you won't stick to it unless you're part of a rowing club, are in prison or have a very good excuse for doing it
>>77087445>as many have pointed out, it is boring as shitit's an indoor machine, boring compared to what? static cycling? elliptical? treadmill? it's the same shit
>>77087448>boring compared to what? static cycling? elliptical? treadmill?yes
>>77087448The thing with the rowing machine is that it requires constant active effort from the user to keep the workout going. It's mentally very taxing and hard to self-motivate. I have one and have barely used it because of this. A treadmill or stairmaster or whatever, the machine sets a pace and you keep up. Running outside, you have momentum, you have distractions. On a rower you power the workout and if you stop, it stops.Perhaps not the best explanation but in short rowing machines require a greater mental effort than other forms of cardio.
>>77087505>than other forms of cardio.other forms of machine based cardio. if you stop skipping or running or swimming, you stop.
>>77087510Skipping, swimming, jogging are done at around 60/120, 90/180 spm, rowing is around 20/35. Relative to any other form of cardio you stop with every stroke.Stop arguing about shit you haven't tried you fat piece of shit get a gym membership they have all of the cardio machines for you to try. No one will bully you there I promise.
>>77087505>It's mentally very taxing and hard to self-motivate.>On a rower you power the workout and if you stop, it stops.that's a you issue, learn to self-regulate, none of your made up problems apply to rowing
>>77086600holy fuk i had no idea such faggotry did or even could exist. these people are worried about looking gay for using a rower or bike but lookatme!! skipping overunders with an overpriced cable attached to two maglites that don't even light up? this is cringier than the thing where you just hold the handles and pretend there's a rope.
>>77087540I'm not saying rowing machines aren't good cardio or that some people can get great use out of them. I'm saying that if you're already struggling to motivate yourself for cardio, buying a rowing machine is probably not going to work out. There are other, less gruelling forms of cardio that don't cost much if anything. There's also an issue of proportions. If you're not built right, rowing is going to be less enjoyable.
>>77085675Row bros im about a month in and just hit my first sub 8 min 2k Feels good man (my lungs are on fire)
>>77085818For your heart?
>>77087679>There are other, less gruelling forms of cardioI really don't understand your point
>>77087737you're being retarded on purpose and don't even know what the thing you posted doeskill yourself
>>77085675That's $4300 in a high yield savings account over 30 years
>>77087752Aka nothing
>>77085940That video
>>77086587based and victorian era pilled
>>77086587You can skii erg boy can practicing jacking off two dicks at once together
>>77087749>waah waah it's a grueling workout>waah waah I bought one and don't use it now>waah waah but muh willpowerthis fucking machine is even recommended to obese and old people since you can ADJUST THE DAMPER AND YOUR OWN SPEED you hopeless retarded nigger faggot, I pray to god you're trolling and don't subject other people to your endless idiocy on a daily basis
>>77085675Just build a rowboat out of scrap lumber, it's much cheaper.
>>77087857How many hours did you clock last year mr rowfag (shill)?
>>77087924Scrap lumber and some nylon or polyester (if you can snag a billboard cover being taken down, it's heavy but durable) and build something like this: https://gentrycustomboats.com/boats/RacerX.html
>>77085675Buy a kayak instead and go outside.
>>77085995Lmao these are full price for these recreational pelicans. These people are smoking crack
>>77087393*rower not treadmill
>>77085675you wont use it after a month and it will just take up space in your house.
>>77085675Have one and I enjoy it; I fucking HATE running. My first option was a bike but that's basically a suicide since everyone drives like a chimp in my third world city.
what
>>77087448>it's the same shitIt's not. You can buy a Concept 2 and find out for yourself. I'd rather be 2 hours on a treadmill than one hour on a rower. It is boring as fuck.
>>77085675Buy a canoe and carry it to the river. Much healthier, and cheaper
>>77089893how many times a month would you do this really? and depending on where you live you can't in winter
>>77085820>spotter for your hip thrustsI lile getting a bj whilst working out
>>77085698Buy one second hand. There are always loads of them for sale on places like Facebook Marketplace. Do you really need the newest onboard computer anyway?
>>77085675I have one it’s cool. I use it maybe once a month. Don’t fucking do it.
>>77085675I use mine every day. Its nice
>>77085928>lifting weights >for cardio???
>>77085675Only worth it if that’s the cardio you truly enjoy. I bought a stationary bike and it turns out I hate it. I bought a treadmill and love it. Much better purchase. So if you love doing this at the gym, go ahead and get it.
>>77085675rowing machines are an excellent workout. both for strength and stamina.you can most likely get away with less though. but not that much. I got the Domyos 500B from Decathlon and I have to take it apart to tighten all screws again every 3 months or so.
>>77087752$825 of which the government will immediately collect as capital gains taxes, leaving you with $3475but to match the purchasing power of your initial $1000 thirty years later (at an inflation rate of 3% p.a.), you'd need $2427so really, you only got around $1500 out of it.unless inflation was higher, which it most likely will have been for a few of those years. and you are hoping that you're at ATH when you sell, too, and not just in one of the years where you get cucked hard and then need another to recoverputting off a purchase that would help with your fitness and then waiting 30 years just for that is more than questionable. investing isn't nearly as amazing as people claim, not even at high yields, unless you are insider trading and manage to pull those "40% within a few days" stunts every now and then.
>>77093063Not to mention there's no better investment than a fit and healthy body, so that in 30 years you're not some weak, fat, out of shape decrepit old fuck.
>>77085915checked
>>77093164It's amazing how many people are willing to put in the effort to invest, save, etc, only for it all to be washed away by health issues in their sixties because they didn't take care of themselves well enough.I'm really interested to see the bifurcation of life expectancy in the next fifty years or so, since a significant portion of young people are lifting weights, eating well, and doing cardio regularly, while many others are just melting into their couches while they look at tiktok and order in.But I guess if you're living longer because you're healthy, that's all the more reason to be investing.
Do it they're fucking great and less than 2 g's is a bargain
>>77085675You can do burpees for free.
>>77085675I have that exact model and I like it.It's funny, I used to do a ton of rowing back when I was in college, and then I stopped when I picked up powerlifting, and now I am back to rowing again because this Winter has been absolutely miserable for running and I decided that I needed a way to get my cardio in without leaving the house. Now it's just chilling in the corner of my office and I can whip it out whenever I feel like doing a workout.
>>77085675All the gyms I go to always have these machine available and never taken up.Personally wouldn't do cardio with them cuz I'd fatigue my arms and have my lifts suffer
>>77086587>blocks your bikepath
