I ended up taking 5 days off in between my torso workout rather than 4 because my left trap muscle was in pain/stiff cause I slept funny and improved on bench and weighted chinups last night so I don't know, maybe you can midway through a cycle take 5 days rather than a full blown deload week
I've never been to the gym and never had big muscles. I just spent 2.5 months in hospital and lost 20kgs in 2 weeks. It falls off pretty quickly.
