>only doing cable and machine exercises is bad for hypertrophy and you need to do free weights
is he right?
>>
>>77102049
Is that the bitch that got injured in the ring and killed his wrestling career before it even started?

Roidtrannies are pathetic.
>>
I noticed that all the skinny guys at the gym who run for an hour on the treadmill only use the machines.
>>
>>77102049
watching him react to jeff nipples is funny but his advice is ultra retarded and you should not listen to it (unless it's the most basic and obvious shit)
>>
>>77102060
but are they skinny because they only do machines, or are they only doing machines because they're skinny?
there's an old polack at my gym who only does machines and he's mega strong and ripped
>>
>>77102049
>is he right?
no
>>
>>77102049
Yes, cables are for warmups aside from lat pulldown
>>
>>77102076
why will they not work for hypertrophy?
>>
>>77102049
No. In fact, free weights are more likely to hinder gains as you're more likely to get injured doing them. Plus free weights give you a thick waist.
>>
>>77102061
His advice is actually really good as long as you know to take everything with a grain of salt. What he says about cables is 100% true, what he says about free weights being better is 100% true, and generally his tidbits of advice regarding motivation and programming are solid. The only time is advice was arguably bad was when he was talking about doing Bulgarian stuff, but he doesn't really advocate for that anymore.
>>
>>77102121
>What he says about cables is 100% true, what he says about free weights being better is 100% true
why? there's literally nothing supporting this
>>
>>77102080
You have to be absurdly underweight or very weak to not max them early on, that's the main issue otherwise they're fine as is
There very few plated machines you'll still feel are challenging once You're over with your first year
>>
>>77102125
jay cutler did tons of cable stuff, it just depends on the machine. yeah shitty machines will max out quick, but there are many good ones (like at my gym luckily)
also that's not inherently a cable issue, and that's not what boogs is claiming is the problem either. there's no way you're maxing out cable lateral raises for example, yet that's somehow not as good as free weights

>The Virgin 2020s Succulent Horse Cock Ricky Sticky the Roidtranny who rambles in front of his wife's living room TV in the middle of the day
>>
>>77102129
You cant cheat as much with cable lateral raises which is bad
>>
>>77102049
>You can look good/big/strong as a natty if you put in a lot of work over 10+ years but you will plateau if you don't hop on gear
He is right
>>
>>77102061
His advice is basically just do what you enjoy, and go hard at it.
How is that bad advice? Are you dumb?
>>
>>77102153
but there's constant tension, which I'd argue is a much bigger benefit. it's also much easier to drop set with cables so you can get extra reps near the end
>>
>>77102157
i literally said
>unless it's the most basic and obvious shit
which is what you pointed out now. he has a lot of specific advice that's just plain stupid. one of his worst takes is telling total newbies to do GOMAD and heavy squats
>>
>>77102049
>raping jeff nipples increases gainz1!
what did he mean by this?
>>

Dude
>>
>>77102150
This. I’m not sure just how much gear he was taking in the past compared to now, if any, but dear God the steroids have fried his brain. Watching a video of his from 5 years ago compared to now is extremely sad. It takes him 10 minutes to explain a concept that should take a normal person 2. Steroids really do destroy brain cells, I feel bad for his family.
>>
>>77102193
I believe it, dude didn't just suddenly hit his 2nd puberty as a 30 year old towards the end of the decade that made his jaw and head grow to the size of a manhole cover
>>

nta but there are stages to roiding, his dosage in 2010 (if he roided) would obviously be super mild compared to whatever shit he's doing now

I've had the opportunity to meet Bugenhagen at a con last year and he just puts on a persona, hes way more chill IRL.
>>77102205
>Steroids really do destroy brain cells, I feel bad for his family.
the man has a wife, family and a business AND somehow finds the time to make somewhat entertaining content while being roided up to the gills. He seems way more down-to-earth, in person at least. I'd say he's doing fine, all things considered.
>>
>>77102064
I was only making an observation and not implying anything. So do you agree or disagree with OP's statement?
>>77102234
Where did I say anything was wrong with cardio? I think both cardio and lifting are non-negotiable for a baseline of fitness and health. I believe that it is a waste if you bother with all of that but dont play sports. If one doesnt play sports I think they should at least participate in an outdoor physical activity that isnt manual labor or the like.

you don't feel as pathetic when the cable is on the lowest weight versus using tiny weights / bar only

It's a mindset/motivation thing. And it's just fun to hoist some heavy weight. Keeps it enjoyable.
Most of my volume is still isolations. I just start my workout with one or two heavy compounds.
>>
>>77102287
Fair enough, I’m glad that he’s actually still normal. I guess I just still mourn the loss of his old content. I really do not like his new “review” videos where he babbles for 2 hours on a 10 minute long video.

Sticky Ricky saved my lifting life. It’s fun as fuck and you do make good gains. Just do whatever you enjoy though. A stressed muscle will grow when fed
>>
>>77102124
>why? there's literally nothing supporting this
Observation proves it since you rarely if ever see muscular people use solely cable machines. They're good for accessories but even then I'd generally prefer free weights. There are mechanical differences the same way there are mechanical differences between smith machines and a barbell. Plus, it doesn't make you strong, which is something anyone should concern themselves with even if their main goal is hypertrophy.
>>77102129
Jay Cutler did primarily free weight stuff until he got old and stopped competing. Now he shills for that dumb cable bullshit. If you actually watch his training from back in the day he was doing compound heavy free weight movements.
>>
>>77102121
Bullshit.

Nothing hits my lat Delts better than cable raises.

Nothing hits my rear delts better than face pulls

Nothing hits the long head of my triceps better than overhead extensions.

Barbell, dumbbells, cables. All just tools with their specific uses. Only a retard limits himself.
>>
>>77102121
No Bulgarian training works extremely well I’ve tried it. I’ve gotten other people to try it. Every time people explode in strength. Much faster than any other program. His advice is golden. What experience do you have? Playing around in the gym? He’s been lifting for decades and used to train D1 athletes.
>>
Bugez is my top 1 inspiration to keep training. His advice is keep it simple don't over complicate it like jeff nipperd and think about every set and rep for hours on how much you stretch and hold, just hoist some big weights with maximum effort and it will work and it does work. Low iq niggers love reading into everything so much and spew random hate on internet
>>

also how does this make sense? why do they magically work in some situations, but are bad in others? if free weights are superior, how can cables be good in any situation?
>>
You should do whatever you want. It's really not that big a deal. You can make all freeweights, all machines, or a combination of both work just fine. Some may be better than other but it is completely secondary to consistency and effort over a long period of time.
>>
>>77102052

Reddit Bugenhagen will never be your mentor, your older brother, or any type of missing father figure in your life. He doesn't know you exist, and if he did he wouldn't even take time out of his day to pity you. He wouldn't expend emotional energy to even acknowledge that you were in the same room with him. Eric hates his fans, but he must live with them because they make him money.

Stop simping for other men online. Go outside.
>>
>>77103768
yes mr kike israeltelaviv is the only person in the world saying that bigger muscles make you stronger
>>
>>77103165
Also as you get older (I am old man) you want variation. So I do dumbell lat raises, cable lat raises and the lat raise machine because JOINTS. Variation is absolutely key to avoiding overuse injuries. I do the same full body routine patterns 3x a week but slightly different exercises each day and zero joint issues. Like Monday is barbell bench, weds is press machine and peccy deccy, Friday is incline dumbell press. Easy.
>>
>>77103850
I'm on my way to older and hear you. I vary more so for fun than injury prevention. I do in fact do both DB and cable lat raises since I can load more with DB but then get the better tension and iso with cable. I do the same for other lifts as well.

It's actually not. Show me someone who only does cable exercises who's strong.
>hypertrophy makes you stronger
Confirmed DYEL who just got into lifting yesterday. No offense. It's possible and in fact common to have large muscles but to also be relatively weak in comparison to people who actually lift heavy (i.e. who don't use cable machines exclusively).
>>77103540
>also how does this make sense? why do they magically work in some situations, but are bad in others? if free weights are superior, how can cables be good in any situation?
They're limited in how much weight you can load them with and so they make more sense for accessory lifts that require much less weight. I also find that they're occasionally more comfortable to do for some people. For example, I hate doing dumbbell flyes for whatever reason and I never really feel them in my pecs, which bothers me. I switched to cable flyes and I like them better. I do them on days I do shoulder press and dumbbell bench.
>>77103344
Maybe so. I'll admit I haven't tried Bulgarian myself and I'm relying on what I've heard people say who have tried it. Common sense would say it'd be very taxing on the body, but I could be wrong.
>>
>>77104460
>It's actually not
you can get jacked without ever adjusting the weights or reps? again, verifiably false. you *will* become stronger when your muscles get bigger, that's just basic
also i do free weights myself, i just hit 120kg bench press at 78kg bw (manlet) after training for a year

After many years of training, I can safely say that if I had my time again and had to go for one or the other I would train with machines. You probably should do both but the aversion to machines doesn’t make any sense unless you want to be a weightlifter. If you just want to look good and have a decent amount of strength then the machines will be fine

>pendulum/leverage/hack squat
>leg press
>leg curls
>leg extensions
>high rows
>preacher curl
>u arm pull downs
>various grips of cable rows
>chest and shoulder presses
>deck, crossovers, face pulls, raises, pull downs etc etc
You could build a great physique with that and never go near a free weight. Conversely, you could powershit it up for years and become 300lbs of lard

https://youtu.be/qKZ1Ra1Ns3s
>>
His videos are funny, but the obsession with the term "horsecock" and the adjectives he uses alongside (thick, bulbous, girthy, voluptuous, ect) makes me not wanna play them loudly. Like it gets to a point.

He said he was gonna stop making reactions to "science based" content or something after Jeff reached out to him and offered him to start in some "gym scientists vs bros" video some months back, but he's pumping out those reactions just as much as ever.
Reaction content is pretty low-brow, even though it can be a guilty pleasure. His videos are pretty transformative for better or worse. An hour+ long reaction to a video maybe 20 minutes long, he doesn't get near finishing it, and skips over or talks over a lot of it.

The stuff he says about mindset and just lifting heavy weights and the emphasis on freeweights and building athletic strength and power, treating the body as one unit. All very motivating.

>is he right?
Idk, I'm a DYEL pencilneck noob lol... for now.
