I'm getting close to outgrowing my gym's fixed weight barbells, how should I progress? Switch to dumbbell curls or start using a regular barbell?

DB Preacher Curls are the best. People are too lazy and stupid to do them though.

Cables are for women and children. Penis having adults have no business using those bitch machines.

Dumbbells with your elbows pressed against your ribs and your arms out to the side. It engages your biceps better than curling straight in front of you.

You get resistance on the negative using cables though. I'm currently running a mix of DB curls, straight arm barbell curls, and cable curls, couples with tangential bicep exercises like chin ups- pull ups, lat pulldown, rows, etc.

Are you honestly under the impression that lowering a dumbbell back to the starting position is not providing resistance? You seriously think gravity turns off and your muscles are not working at all when you lower the dumbbell after the curl?

It works differently, you can still do slow negatives with dumbells but the weight and distribution all vary. Point being I'm just doing a mix of everything to get the most range for the muscle so as not to fatigue or just get tired of the exercise.

Gravity works the same for everything anon. Cables are easier, all you have to do is hold on. Dumbbells require you to stabalize the weight which engages more fine motor muscles.
