Does calorie counting actually work? I am 5'8" and almost 300 pounds and I get only basic movement in, getting off my ass making my own food, getting groceries, etc. I have limited myself to 1500 calories a day and have stuck with this for a week and I have felt a lot more energetic but I was curious what the /fit/ opinion is since I have heard some people say that a calorie deficit is not enough to lose weight. Once I lose enough weight that I'm not embarrassed to be seen working out I would like to start going to my local gym, but right now I'm just not comfortable doing so.
>>77104728For me it didn't.Weight is hormonal and genetic at the end of the day.
>>77104729>fast for a week straight>lose absolutely no weight because muh jeans
>>77104736They're spelled "genes" as in genetics you retard.
>>77104729the absolute state of this cope lmao
>>77104744Meanwhile GLP drugs sales are increasing.
>>77104747>fat people resort to big pharma instead of actually putting in consistent effort to eat well and exercise dailyno way
>>77104728A deficit will always result in weightloss. There are no exceptions to this. What this is might vary quite alot for different people.
>>77104728That's funny, you're my height but double my weightImagine if I was carrying around a clone of myself at all times, kek
>>77104749If counting calories work then why are you still fat?
>>77104759Im not OP but I'll take that ad hominem as an easy concession, try working out instead of consuming goyslop you fucking loser
>>77104767Proof?
>>77104738Do you also have a glandular problem?
>>77104781I have a retard problem.I.e. you.
>>77104728It does but it can be annoying or frustrating for some people, leading to relapses. It's easier for these people to just learn to do extended fasts (16-48 hours) since there's no counting or math involved and the deficits created are a lot bigger. If you're actively losing weight just stick with what you're doing. You should start working out ASAP though, stimulating muscle growth and burning a few more calories per day will help in the long run.
OP here, didn't realize I was gonna cause such a shit show, thanks for the honest responses though anons. Personally I've just been eating a lot of white chicken meat, I bake it in a mix of seasonings like lemon pepper and lime chili powder, and douse that bitch in crystal hot sauce when its done. Tastes good as shit and now that I'm committed to it I honestly don't know why I didn't do this sooner, good luck to my fellow calorie deficit anons.
>>77104747They need to eat more protein to get the same satiety response.
>>77104729Please post a time stamp. I’m 99% convinced you’re an engagement bot and not a human
>>77104728Calorie counting works, but you also have to tailor your diet to minimize hunger. If you're a fatass you probably eat like a fatass, so your usual diet at a caloric deficit will make you so hungry you end up binge eating. You probably won't get it right immediately, I personally had to fail several times before I figured out a diet that lets me maintain a daily 500 kcal deficit and still work without getting too hungry.
>>77104728Yes, but it takes longer than a week to start seeing results. 3500 calories burned roughly equals 1 pound of fat lost. I'm 5'3" and was 240 pounds in the new year. I limit myself to 1100 calories per day, but I replenish most of what I burn at the gym. Doing this I lost 18 pounds in 6 weeks. The first 2-3 weeks I saw a big drop but since then it's been 1-2 pounds dropped each week. I burn roughly 500-700 calories at the gym daily by keeping my heartrate above 150bpm for an hour. I run, walk on a 12 percent incline and bike. I work so hard I have to peel my clothes off I'm so soaked with sweat.Go to the gym now. No one is judging you for putting in the work. Lift weights and do cardio.
>>77104747Correct, GLP1 drugs work by reducing your appetite and thus your calorie intake.
>>77105986That's more logical than cutting calories and staying hungry.
>>77106298Not relevant but ok
>>77104729it is hormonal, but your hormones are affected by the foods you eat. Stop eating carbs.
>>77106301Feeding behavior is relevant.
>>77106329Keto schizo
>>77106339Reddit
>>77104728No, common sense solutions like eating less, drinking more water, and sleeping more don't work, you need to start taking turkesterone, shining a red light on your scrotum, and drinking raw milk; basically, you shouldn't do any of the simple things that rely on your own accountability, that way you can blame someone else for your failures.
>>77106363No I don't browse r/keto
>>77106385This is what i did and I went from 300 to 315. Should have been doing raw carno and worm maxxed.
>>77106392Or sliddin logs from Andy.
>>77106333Not to my point
>>77104728Holy fuck, READ THE STICKY.
>>77106397You don't have one.
>>77104728Obviously. A caloric deficit is literally how you lose weight, so the most effective and traceable action is to count calories. Increasing expenditure doesn’t hurt but it is much harder to track.
>>77106401Rejecting things as irrelevant that you disagree with because you try to tack on your opinion and an additional premise and it was rejected is infantile.
>>77106393He slidd too close to the buns. Rip in shidd
>>77104728Have you tried developing a crippling opiate addiction? Those guys are always skinny.
>>77104729Wow bro has violated the laws of thermal dynamics. Someone call a physicist.
